Yeah, the Ruo River water is corrosive, especially to SJ who is without a divine essence, so the fact that she kept looking for MY shows how much she loved him. In the book, it stripped most of her "shell". They showed it in the drama with her burnt skin marks after she saved MY.
Eventually in the Barren Abyss, she didn't have much protection against the attacks of the devils. Her physical body was torn apart and she devilized quickly afterwards coz of her resentment.

We thought we'd be immune to these scenes after rewatching so many times, but we're still not... 😅😭

Ji Ze helps them by zapping them out of the BA. They are now in the bamboo forest. MY finally explains some things and how he hopes to have a peaceful life with SJ, like they did in that forest. MY ask SJ to trust in him again and to basically give up her revenge

SJ confirms that MY made a deal for TH's life for the crystal. Her disappointment in him was palpable. Perhaps, until that moment, she kept hoping that MY would side with her. She recounts the story her father told her and says the price she must pay is too high, so she can't accept MY's love anymore. SJ drops the crystal and says, "I don't want to owe you. I will find a way to revive SY and will kill my foe myself." 💪💪👏👏 Lulu's nailed this scene!

Evil TH tries to take over the SR, but SJ arrives and finishes her off. She remained unrepentant and got an easy death in the drama. Being boiled in the cauldron for 30 days, like in the novel, is more apt.

SJ vows to hunt down the entire Flying Serpent tribe. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Go get 'em, SJ!

MY misguidely keeps refining the crystal instead of investigating and rooting out TH's conspirators. She keeps having access to her tribe members and the maids were used to leak the info to SJ that SY was thrown into Barren Abyss. Obviously, it was a plot to lure SJ to death.

MY remains oblivious to this until he is informed that SJ "escaped" and went to the abyss. How SJ could have escaped with all those maids and soldiers around is another area he should have checked.

Ji Ze tries to stop SJ but she goes into the abyss to look for her dear brother. After all, he is the only remaining kin to her in this world. SJ has a hard time fending off the devils because they were too many and too strong. She gets torn apart and devilizes due to her grievances.

MY arrives too late to stop her from turning and instead of answering her honestly, he condescendingly thinks SHE IS TOO EMOTIONAL and fends off her questions. Instead of explaining using the crystal to revive her clansmen and using the Bone-Refining Seal to form her divine essence so she can do immortal cultivation again, he impales himself on her sword and knocks her out. Way to go!

MY asks how SJ is. The doctor says SJ has psychological issues causing her deviation. Yup, the annihilation of your family and clan does that. 🤦‍♀
MY instead of consoling SJ listens to the quack doctor and doesn't talk to SJ at all. Let her stay tied up with the Ruo rope instead of finding out what she saw, or at least accompanying her in her grief. Good job at being emotionally available to the one you allegedly love!

The evil B says Poor me yada yada yada when MY refused to release her. As in her nature, she quickly rallies and makes another evil plan.

It was really devastating. Because we saw how happy they could have been just by themselves in that forest, it made the ending sadder. The might have beens... *sigh*

It is totally understandable to skip it. It is hard to rewatch that part especially the flashbacks with SJ's dad. His line broke me again, "Remember as long as you are sincere, the gods will be moved." 😭😭😭
No they won't because some of them are too detached while some immortals like TH are evil...

He finally leans into that yearning for SJ. He should have done that earlier instead of driving her away.
SJ is so cute! She has this joy and innocence about her. It is so sad to see that go away at the end of the ep. 😭

Yup yup it must have been tough on them. They had to do a lot of wire work while handling weapons. Xixi's halberd was really heavy too along with his costume.

TH uses this opportunity to hunt down SJ at the bamboo forest house. It's a good thing SJ hides quickly from TH. She goes to Shanqing Realm to check with MY, but the guards prevent her from seeing him, saying he is on a retreat.

Even after a few rewatches, the urge to smash TH's smiling face is still strong. 🤬 Along with the "Heavenly soldiers", she goes to the Clam clan and orders their death for "colluding" with ADG. CDL's famous line "Sha~" is here. 😂

The entire clan, SY, and the Clam King were no match for them. The stupid general finally starts questioning TH's order and thinks to run it by MY before proceeding, but it is too late. TH gives the final blow to the Clam King. The peaceful Mohe River Clam Clan's annihilation is done.

SJ gets a foreboding and rushes home. She arrives to see her entire tribe and her father wiped out. She watches the memory bead and sees all the machinations of TH. She blames herself for getting entangled with MY and thinks she is not worthy of being his daughter and their princess. She faints and we see the beginning of her internal deviation... 😭😭😭

Here comes the bringer of death and disaster named TianHuan. Get away from MY! She persuades MY to leave by informing him of the whereabouts of ADG's evil artifacts. Of course, she destroys MY's letter to SJ as soon as he leaves. 🤬

ADG's Bone-refining Seal made a crater and connected itself to the land, spreading an evil aura. We see how the Heart-guarding scale becomes an artifact there. Even with his immense power, the BRS wouldn't budge, so MY has no recourse but to remove his HGS to detach the BRS and to take it for cleansing. He sends Heavenly Rain, and with this combination, Mt. Buzhao becomes verdant and eventually full of spiritual energy. It will become the home base of the XY sect in the future. I love it every time MY recoils from TH's touch.

MY plans to purify the BRS to set SJ to rights, so she can continue her immortal cultivation. The Fire Quadripod can be used to purify demons/objects, but it shortens the user's life. He thinks it is worth it and goes into a four-day retreat to do just that.
