Adding on to Chuntian, LYX is naturally slim with a ballerino's build (coz he was one before). It is hard for him to gain weight quickly. However, he heard many people pointing out his weight loss so he made efforts to take that constructively and gain more weight. If you look at his recent photos/vids in Weibo Night, LoL gaming event and Douyin Night, he has done that.
In TTEOTM, as a hostage prince, it was fitting that he was frail. As he gained more power becoming the Demon God, his acting skills made up for the physical bulk he's lacking. There is a reason why the Chinese call him the costume drama god. If you wanna give TTEOTM another shot, that'd be great coz this is one of the best xianxias to date but if it really doesn't appeal to you, that's perfectly fine, too. 😁

Yes, the novel did from Ch.60-62 including the brief background on ZMxAZhu. It didn't contain this extra TH plot so everything past ep.36 in the drama didn't happen there.
Here is a summary: After the da gege cycle was finished, XXC dies and his soul fragment finally combines with ZM in the lava. It wasn’t until the memories belonging to XXC merged with his primordial spirit that he understood many things. XXC's death in the timeline causes MXL's rebirth since he gives back her chaos energy. While TMS was forcing MXL to do the 3rd bow, DLZM emerges from the abyss to the horror of the Alliance. He goes directly to MXL who recognizes him as XXC yet not XXC. She also recalls she is Ling’er and also AZhu. They embrace. TMS goes on to say that if he can suppress ZM once, he can do it again. He attacks DL ZM but MXL blocks all his attacks. TMS get his fate pen to rewrite destiny again. MXL rushes to stop him and he aims for her heart with the pen and she bleeds but he holds back most of his strength at the last second and her attack on his divine channel hit instead. DLZM hold swaying MXL and TMS could see he can never separate them. NXY mortal body dies but TMS just returned to his divine post to slumber for thousands of years. MXL and DLZM easily climb the God slaying ladder to seek more answers from the Time Keeper. Everything is cleared up and they get their happy ending after defying fate. Epilogue tells the story after they have kids in the demon realm with Alliance members in attendance for their eldest son's birthday party. Some naughty2 between DLZM and MXL were written too. LOL!

The drama writers decided to go extra bigbrained so they deviated a lot in the last part but it created loopholes. They tried but it was a shame coz they were doing so well when they followed the novel's logic. For pure drama watchers, it might strike differently.

Same same. I seriously am trying to reevaluate and choose parts of the last stretch of the drama that I like coz I loved the first 3/4 of it. 😂 Despite some failings, it is still one of the best xianxias in years though.

The problem doesn't lie in TMS learning emotions/empathy. Him learning those, choosing the greater good, cooperating with MXL and DLZM, and eventually destroying destiny for free will are great higher ideals. I liked some points made. But there are writing and execution problems with contradictions based on previously set logic and dialogues. It would take too long to go over each and I don't want to rewatch eps just to prove those inconsistencies. More importantly, instead of showing the acceptance of a multi-faceted character, the writers insist on emphasizing the distinctions of the fragments like you said about FY×TMS and A Zhu/MXL×ZM/XXC. Having realization of one's grayness but choosing to act morally is divine. Isn't this what AZ said made ZM different from the Divine Clan? Thus a merged DL ZM with a redemption arc would have suited MXL more as they are now the complete and realized versions of themselves. The way the writers also addressed how to kill HT is problematic and convoluted. Explaining why that won't work based on causality would take a whole essay. 😂 It is what it is though. I still like the drama for the most part.
