I'm going by the novel. This is what I think. LBY did not use CSS. They are kind of making it look more that way in the drama. After LBY betrays CSS, I think she was hurt. She impulsively decides to break off the engagement. I think he genuinely loved her, but the timing was just wrong. It just fell into place that the opportunity for revenge happened right before their marraige. LBY regrets how he handled the whole revenge situation and abandoning CSS and everyone. Just like LBY instantly regretted his words, CSS probably regrets leaving LBY as well. It's explained that breaking off the engagement was the only time that CSS felt she had any power over LBY. So, the only way to get back at LBY for the betrayal was to break off the engagement. She was probably set on going into exile with LBY.

CSS is extremely stubborn and refuses to look back. However, after LBY is exiled she gets extremely ill and goes into a coma. While in her sleep she constantly dreams of LBY and is heard calling out for him to not leave her and to take her with him. She felt abandoned, but she loves him. She is only truthful in her dreams and Yuan Shen heard it. Yuan Shen realized in this moment that CSS is most like LBY. When awake, she just tries to deny any feelings for LBY and just kind of goes along with putting on this act. She did not marry for the whole 5 years that LBY was exiled and refused Yuan Shen's proposal, every single time. This is most likely because deep down inside she knew he was the only one she wants to get married. She only gets engaged to Yuan Shen 1) to fulfill the Empress Dowager Xuan's dying wish to get married (not knowing Empress Dowager Xuan, meant to LBY) 2) she was worried about seeing LBY again when he returns from his exile. She was trying to fool herself that she no longer loves him, but knew that she still does and if she saw him, all of her real feelings would surface. She was trying to avoid him, but to her surprise, the Empress Dowager Xuan requested LBY to return early.

When LBY returns, her "fear" of seeing him again is realized. It's obvious to LBY and everyone else that she still has feelings for LBY. LBY only seeks for another chance when he realizes that CSS still has feelings for him. LBY's feelings have never changed. He still loves her as much as before. CSS is the one who doesn't realize how much she still loves him. After LBY prevails and breaks down her walls, CSS begins to do the thing she had been refusing to do, which was to reflect. She immediately tells Yuan Shen that she wants to break off the engagement. Yuan Shen finally realizes the lengths that LBY is willing to go through for CSS. With no other real choice, he "decides" to give up on the engagement with CSS. Yuan Shen never stood a chance against LBY. LBY is willing to give his everything for CSS. Yuan Shen does not have that conviction. CSS kept up the air of indifference and "hate" for LBY the whole time he was gone. When she reflected, she realized that what he did was wrong, but also understandable. She sympathizes with him. As someone that loves LBY, she decided to accept him for the good and the bad. She finally realizes that no one else can treat him better than he can and that he is someone who loves her for who she is. CSS is not a troublefree heroine. She is constantly getting into and causing trouble. LBY is always there to support, clean her mess up and rescue her. This is unlike Yuan Shen, who only loves the best version of CSS. Finally, after 6 years of seperation, they reconcile and love each other more than before. Now, they are going to face everything together.

Back to your question of CSS being ridiculed. Bitches are going to talk. She continues to look after the Empress Dowager Xuan until her death and got a lot of praise from the Emperor and Empress Yue. She's actually seen as a virtuos and refined lady. However, this isn't who CSS really is. CSS doesn't care about any of that, but needed to pretend in order to survive. When LBY returns, her genuine self comes out again. CSS's brother explains to her that she only made a lot of mistakes when LBY was around. Meaning, she could only be herself when he was around and would often cause trouble. When he was gone, she hardly made any mistakes. She had to pretend to be a refined and virtuous lady. So, this tells me, she only felt safe and comfortable to be herself when LBY was around.

Finally, for all that LBY has done for her, she understands and will slowly pay him back with the rest of her life. She knows he has done a lot for her and he will slowly reveal them to her and she will return the favor. After the reconciliation, CSS thinks about the past. She knew that LBY was willing to sacrifice his life for her, but she didn't feel the same way. She always thought her life was more important. When they were trapped together and she was asked who's life is she willing to sacrifice, Yuan Shen or LBY, she reached a new conclusion. There was someone else's life who was more important than her own and that person is LBY. She didn't hesistate to sacrifice her life or Yuan Shen's life for LBY. Sucks for Yuan Shen, but CSS will only ever love LBY. By this point, CSS and LBY are on the same wavelength and don't even need to say anything to understand each other.

I'm going under the assumption that a lot of content will be cut. It will probably be rushed. Part 1 covered like 40ish percent of the novel. Part 2 seems like a condensed version of the second half with some changes. So unless we are in for a surprise rewrite, if you guessed 47 or 48 is the start of the revenge arc. Then I can see 5 or 6 episodes to time skip and for them to reconcile. Then the remaining episode for the last arc.

My guess is 10 episodes before the end they break up and it'll take 5 episodes for them to fully reconcile. 5 remaining to cover the final arc after they reconcile.

She is pretty nutty for LBY and will do everything up include killing CSS and him so that they don't have a HEA. She murdered her husband and tries to kill CSS, literally cause she covets LBY and wants to be with him. She had the one sided love with him since like the age of 10 or something. LBY never led her on and usually just ignores her. LBY did use her as a shield though when he was exiled, so that part is a little messed up on LBY's part. But she is a psycho.

How did she die in the novel?

The Luo family actually has a relatively powerful military. She ambushes and corners CSS. However CSS set up some explosive traps which wounds LJT and eventually she is forced into retreating. CSS and LBY are reunited and look for her hide out together. When they find it, there are dead bodies everywhere. No one was spared and there is the smell of rotten flesh. LBY realizes that the killers were "dead men." They are known to fight with hooks and LBY had been injured by them before, so he has experienced how ruthless and dangerous they can be. LBY fought them previously to kill a rebel group in order to protect Yuan Shen's family and by extension CSS (This is the plot point in the novel that gets Yuan Shen to finally give up on CSS). When CSS finds the scars on LBY's arm left by them she is heartbroken and wishes she could trade places with his injury. They find LJT's body among the dead. I believe she was dismembered and impaled into a wall.

She killed her maid to silence her. She is the one who conspired with Fifth Princess to harm CSS. I think pushing CSS into the pond was her idea. It wasn't shown in the drama, but she is the one responsible for trying to frame CSS with a murder. Later, she wants to kill CSS. If she can't have him, neither can she. She dies a horrible death in the novel.

In the novel he "betrays" CSS. He had a choice on carrying out his revenge or marry CSS and he resolved for revenge. If he met CSS sooner things might have been different. But he was given a chance right before the wedding. His aunt had just died, who was the last of his real family and he found out where the Ling family would be vulnerable. He had been waiting his whole life for this moment. It was just unfortunate, everything fell in place right before the wedding.

These scenes are kind of deviating from the novel. But in the novel nothing bad happens to Lou Yao.

That's a tough question.
Here is my take. She always had a type of affection for him, but it's more admiration than love. By episode 27, I still don't think she loves LBY. She probably just appreciates the fact that he likes her and will treat her well. She is worried of being oppressed though. After she realizes that he doesn't intend to oppress her, she decides to agree to marry him. Still not out of love though.

In the drama, there is a visible and tangible change from episode 33 and up, where she gets insight from QiQi and Yang Yang. In the novel equivalent, CSS does not get insight from QiQi and Yang Yang, instead it's Madam Wan, who tells CSS about her relationship with her husband. Madam Wan asks CSS how LBY treats her and CSS flashes back to all the scenes that LBY has helped her. She doesn't hesitate anymore and is willing to get married with LBY and looks to treat him better. She believes he deserves to be treated well for all he has done for her. I think she is at least partially in love with him and coming to terms with her feelings.

It's only after LBY admonishes her after the incident with Fifth Princess and LBY receives the flogging, CSS actually begins to change. When she does something, she thinks about LBY first. Like if she is cold, she wonders if he is cold. If she is hungry, she wonders if he ate etc. So, here she is fully in love with him.

Some of the plot has deviated already, so who knows. However, I'm not that optimistic. I'm going by what was in the MV. The ending of the novel is in the MV.

First bite happens before the time skip, about 10 days before the wedding and before LBY carries out his revenge. LBY bites her again after the time skip, when he finds out the bite mark scar is about to disappear.

I'm waiting for the first bite. That should be an indication that LBY is about to carry out his revenge. In the novel, he carries it out 3 days before the wedding.

No. They are only engaged again by the end of the novel (the engagement is confirmed in the extra chapters). In the extra chapters written after the novel, there is a time skip and they are already married.

The moment that he pushed her off the horse was the initial moment that CSS felt betrayed. She was ready to die with him. She woke up confused and in a daze. LBY could have done many things different. He could've surrendered.

Yep. She is extremely slow in the love department. The Empress only ships LBY and CSS. She didn't expect CSS to agree to Yuan Shen so quickly. The Empress continues to drop hints that LBY is the one she loves, but CSS doesn't get it. After CSS accepts the engagement with Yuan Shen, the Empress proceeds to just keep talking about LBY to the annoyance of CSS. The Empress even says if you married LBY you would've seen how rich he was. Finally the Empress drops the bombshell that LBY is returning from his exile and she was the one that requested it. CSS starts to panic. It's clear that CSS still loves him. And yeah, maybe he could've jumped down with her - the tragic story death of two lovers.
