She gets engaged to LBY in part 1. Most likely engaged to Yuan Shen in part two. You can find a pretty heavy spoiler…
I don't doubt that. Certain scenes have already been added that were not in the novel. And other scenes were dumbed down. But, most of the key points regarding the romance are shown in the trailer. They are kind of fundamental to the story so it's likely to be similar. I don't know how they will handle the political part and war parts, but the romance portions will probably be close to the novel.

The 4 engagements.
LBY getting his revenge and leaving CSS behind.
The bite mark.
etc.

LOL. I always have to seperate myself from real life when watching these dramas. IRL some of the stuff he does would be considered stalkerish and creepy, but in a drama, it's swoon worthy and I'm all for it.

Spoiler about mom, if it makes you a bit more happy)) actually in novel its not that trope))) and SS will find…
I'm biting the bullet and reading the novel like RN. If I remember I'll keep you posted. But yeah, other than Wang Yan Ji, it seems like it'll just be your more typical secondary love interest girl vying after the ML. It's like how is she better than us, she must've tricked you..blah blah blah...

I really want to see her interactions with the Empress and LBY. I already know that CSS didn't fall in love with LBY right away. So I'm looking for the progression. Cause, after the time skip, CSS's love for LBY is already unconditional.

I think you are referring to 5th princess. She looks like the daughter of the Empress. She has a one-sided love for LBY. I don't think it will be terrible. She reminds of of Ru Lan from the story of Ming Lan. Like cause trouble for CSS in the Palace, but nothing sinister. She looks straightforward and not scheming. Just a guess since I didn't read the first half. She is the daughter of the Empress after all, so I don't think she'll be that bad.

I scanned the picture. I don't know all the names well, as there were a lot of characters to keep track. I only concentrated on the scenes with LBY and CSS. I also only read after the time skip when LBY returns from exile.

The biggest "love rival" is Wang Yan Ji. She is delusional in her one sided love for LBY. She causes a lot of trouble between our leads. I think at one point she even tried to frame a murder on CSS. However, LBY knew of everything. He only finally decides to confront her since she is a threat to CSS. A lot of people die because of her. If you watched The Story of Ming Lan, she is like Gu Ting Ye's stepmother's character. She always shows a good face and uses other as her weapons. After LBY confronts her, she is sent away from the Capital. This isn't the last we see of her.

She makes a return towards the end of the novel after the Empress dies. Wang Yan Ji is aligned with a faction that plan to rebel. She captures LBY and CSS and plans to kill them. OFC they get away.

Wang Yan Ji dies soon after in brutal fashion.

I just realize the actress for Wang Yan Ji is Mo Lan from Story of Ming Lan. ROFL. 5th princess, the Empress's daughter is also from Story of Ming Lan. She was Ming Lan's maid, Xiao Tao.

It's sad, since the actress for Mo Lan actually is a sweetheart. LOL. But damn her acting is so good. You really want to slap her at times.

:(((( I'm going to cry now. I was just going to let the drama tell me of the first half of the novel, but I read the half after the time skip. Now I'm motivated to read the first half. In CSS words, the only love and affection that she ever wanted came from the Empress. :((((

Her being ill and passing away is a plot point, no? This is what finally convinces CSS to agree to the engagement with Yuan Shen, since her last dying wish is to see CSS get married. Unless it's someone else.

I don't want such a mother figure to pass away in front of CSS.

Shit. Now I really hope they don't follow the novel. The Empress reminds me of grandma from Story of Ming Lan.

Just watched the trailers for episodes 13 and 14 and I’m already heartbroken 😭
It helps to set up LBY's character and love for CSS. He's willing to let her do what she wants as long as she is happy and will continue to support and protect her even if he's not the one she marries.

So I found out why and whom lby murdered 3 days prior to his and css' wedding. He found out the truth of his identity…
As far as I know he returns in glory and all the girls still want him. He is still favored by the Emperor. I got burned out from reading after the time skip. I still plan to read the first half when my eyes are relaxed.

Right?! He seems sweet but useless. I’m sort of appalled our FL considers an engagement with him
People get married for different reasons. Some do it for wealth and fame, while others do it for freedom. The freedom I'm referring to is to get out of her own family. The dynamic in her home is unsavory at the moment to say the least. Although she had a rough childhood being bullied by her elders without the protection of her parents, she still lived a relatively sheltered life and wants to get out of it.

Woman had little opportunities during the time and one of the only ways out of their household is to marry out. You don't automatically lose freedom just because you are married. Until you marry out you have to obey your household.

Other than the dynamics at her home, she doesn't know or want to believe that another family could be worse. Her mom is more well rounded and understands. She is going to show her daughter that later on.

Although CSS is smart she is extremely immature and oblivious to how family dynamics can be as well. She just knows her own household. What she does know is what she currently wants, which is the freedom to do what she wants. When Lou Yao proposes, she jumps at it thinking, I can finally get out of this family and be more free. She can't do that at home and incorrectly assumes she can do that in Lou Yao's household.

He is the first to propose marraige. She is willing to have him, since she knows he is easy to control. He will be a henpecked husband. At this point, what she desires most is not love but the freedom to do what she wants. She is still immature at this point of the story, but matures slightly during the engagement. Her increased maturity leads her to let the engagement go.

So I found out why and whom lby murdered 3 days prior to his and css' wedding. He found out the truth of his identity…
It's going to be interesting to see what they do with the drama. Some additional spoilers and some interpretation.

After CSS opens her heart the first time for LBY, there is no one else that can fill it. LBY's only regret is pushing her off the horse to seperate himself from her for her protection after he massacres those responsible for his real family's death. There is a monologue where LBY says he melted the ice around her heart earned her trust and love, and then betrays her. Literally the wedding was around the corner. But her life would be more difficult if they were actually married, since she would be married to a criminal.

However, at that point in the story CSS was a ride or die. Married or not, she was already willing to walk through hell with LBY. She wasn't mad that he chose revenge over her, she was mad that he chose to leave her behind. CSS gets extremely ill after LBY is exiled and constantly dreams of him. After getting betrayed she changed and tried to deny her own feelings. But when LBY returned from the time skip she couldn't keep it up. She realized LBY's love for her is unwavering and unchanged, even after the 5 year time skip. If anything it's stronger.

LBY is a savage and just destroys everyone that is in his way of his winning back CSS. He literally has a plan and response to anything and everything that happens. Even when he was away he learned what CSS was doing. He knew more about what she was doing than the people around her. Yuan Shen never stood a chance. When LBY came back and declared to be back with CSS, it was never a challenge to Yuan Shen. The challenge was directed to CSS. It was up to her if she wanted to give LBY a chance and no one else's. After the don't be so cruel scene, CSS knew she couldn't hide from her feelings anymore. The scene immediately after is her telling Yuan Shen to break off the engagement. She's taking the initiative. She wants to be with her true love. All of her prior engagements excluding LBY were for convenience not love.

When CSS finally admits that she still loves LBY and wants to marry him, he is actually in shock. She is not wishy washy here, she is confident and knows her true feelings. As arrogant as he is, he could not be certain if CSS would ever forgive him and give him another chance. The reality is, CSS had forgotten who she was and what love to her was. Love meant staying by their side no matter what. She understood the deep pain and burden that LBY had regarding the death of his clan and the need for revenge. When the chance was there to take revenge, he had to take it, even if it meant forsaking her. The only thing he got wrong was not wanting to drag her down with him. She didn't care about being dragged down so long as she was with him. They are both similar in that aspect. LBY's love never changed.

Everyone that was close with CSS knew and shipped CSS and LBY. LOL. There are some pretty funny scenes where CSS gets questioned by her friends/family members about where she spent the night right after the reconciliation and telling them to stop being so obvious with their affection. Like have some propriety girl.

There is another cute scene where CSS stares at LBY and day dreams that if they have a son, he is going to be super handsome like their father.

They are literally inseperable after the reconciliation. LBY won't make the same mistake of letting her go again and CSS won't give him the chance to leave her. Whatever happens, regardless of any danger, they will face it together.

Side note on the drama. I feel that the romance is more fast pace and scenes were added to make the romance between LBY and CSS more early and obvious.

So I found out why and whom lby murdered 3 days prior to his and css' wedding. He found out the truth of his identity…
Zhao Li Ying (Minglan) and Feng Shao Feng (Gu Ting Ye) were dating in real life during the shooting of Story of Minglan and got married shortly after. The story goes that when ZLY got pregnant and gave birth to her child, FSF's family did not want her to continue with her acting career any longer. They wanted her to take care of the child full time. ZLY was like hell no. FSF wanted ZLY to listen to his parents. This caused a lot of discord and the couple eventually divorced. This type of character is similar to Yuan Ruo/Qi Heng in The Story of Ming Lan, who cannot disobey his parents and is not willing to fight for his wife. Gu Ting Ye's character, who FSF plays would never listen to his parents and support what his wife wanted.

ZLY first role after her pregnancy was Legend of Fei, which I actually enjoyed. I'm glad she continued to act, Even though people said her acting in that one was a little bit woody, I didn't think so. Fei's character is suppose to be socially awkward and cold. When her character shows emotions, it's a lot more meaningful. ZLY is one of the best criers in the industry.

I love Seven. But I could not get into Master of My Own as well. I just watch Under the Power again when I'm feeling it. LOL with Wallace, since I had the same feeling with Sword and the Brocade. Even though it's period realistic to have a much older husband and a younger wife. It's hard for me to get on board.

I think it always depends. You are going to have the upright artists as well as the downright scummy ones. Family businesses are one of those things that can be a blessing or total s**t show. It can sway either way depending on the moral character of the family members.

Good for him for doing what he enjoys though.

I tend to try and stay away from the personal lives of actors/actresses, since I don't want to be disillusioned from enjoying their characters in a show. it's hard for me to enjoy a show if an actor/actress is known to have shady practices in their professional/personal life.

A really good comment I read once was when a commenter described the actor for Gu Ting Ye in real life, is more like Yuan Ruo's character, in The Story of Ming Lan. I hope you get the reference.

Before LLTG air date was even annouced I added all his dramas on my to watch list. I enjoyed him in Long Ballad and thought he made an excellent ML. Coincidently I also have all of Lu Si's drama on my watch list.
