Posting this here as well because it seems that I accidentally upset BB fans, which was not my intention and I…
I fully agree with you. I have a feeling that there is too much social media activism nowadays like "cancel this and that because this is not how relationships should go and it gives a bad example" etc. If we continue like this, we will have to abolish even traditional fairly taIes and a lot of classic literature. I also don't get the hype for Bad Buddy because the parents were so childish and stupid that it was painful to watch and I don't get why the architecture and engineering students had to beat each other every time they met.
I have not watched it yet but have seen a few clips on twitter but the comments here say a different story. Even…
I think you should not judge a series based on comments. Give it a try and you'll see if you like it or not. If not, you can drop it. Or you can at least watch some clips from the series.
I like your honest review. Don't worry, I believe that there will be a spin-off where we can enjoy more YiDiao or SynNuea. I would like if it was focused on SynNuea but I think we will rather get YiDiao spin-off, so at least it will explain their relationship more and I believe that if we don't see any TutorYim there, we will get them somewhere else.
That's exactly the problem. Because people think that it's the normal and standard behaviour of BL couples (which…
Yes it is funny how people hate some shows for something and don't mind it (or even worse stuff) in others. It is also true that at school we have to read some drastic stories from the classic literature and nobody finds it inappropriate (with the exception of some radicals) while people complain about some TV shows that they are not appropriate for teenagers or set a bad example in general. Btw I like Friends, the older I am the more. I just did not like how promiscuous they were and you are right that sometimes it was unrealistic and that there could have been a bigger racial diversity. I liked it probably because it depicted embarassing situations that happen in real life so I could relate.
I think that some people have been conditioned to react to things by socials, and they apply situational ethics…
Another interesting comment. I agree with your opinion on using the word "toxic" and the slight xenophobia against Thais. As to IPYM, I saw that many people criticized that because of the cheating and dropped the show because of that. I personally did not mind the thing so much. It made me sad, of course, but not everything has to be sunshine and roses all the time and I liked how they handled it in the end. You are right that ITSAY also had many elements that are considered toxic, so it is strange that people did not complain about it that much. I liked the show very much because in reality, people often hurt each other in similar ways, it is a human thing we shouId not demonize it. IMO they depicted it in a sensitive way so that we could understand every character. As to Not Me - I haven't wathed it yet, so I cannot judge it.

I like your comment in general and find it interesting. Also, thanks for your kind approach. I also believe we should be able to disagree but still be friends. As to the influence of mangas - I don't read them, so I cannot judge it. Maybe you are right. And letting gay characters die very often can offer even a worse message than some "toxic" stuff. As to the old-fashioned tropes - they probably still work with people although they might not be very realistic.

You sound very reasonable and I appreciate that. I don't know if you meant that this drama might not stand against the comparison of other dramas as to the quality or as to the popularity. As to the quality - it is very subjective but I think there are both better and worse dramas and as to popularity - from the number of views and number of comments both here and in other platforms, it seems that it is succesful, although there were shows that were even more succesful. I forgot to react to the teenager thing - I do not know the numbers but I believe there have always been agressive teenagers and it is hard to determine what made them do the things. We should not blame only the shows, especially when they are marked as age restricted. Parents should play their role there and intervene when necessary. So, to sum it up, I personally liked the show in general but I understand that people have different tastes and I am OK with the fact some people didn't like it for whatever reason. I just don't agree that the show is dangerous because it gives people a bad example etc.

I am not offended, it's OK. I understand your point of view. Just I am not sure if Thai people have the same opinion as the people here, so I don't know if producers will get the message from the audience. I am glad there are different types of shows, as well, although in my opinion, there will always be some "toxic" shows, the world and people will never be perfect. I think the most effective way to influence the producers is to watch only the shows we like instead of watching shows we do not like and then complaining here. Don't get me wrong, people can criticize a show, they just should not expect it will change the BL industry. Some people here put so much time and energy into expressing the same opinions again and again that I am afraid they really overestimate the power of their opinions. Some even attack people that think differently, so they change nothing for the better and just make other people feel miserable.
I really appreciate everyone who writes their opinions on this show (either positive or negative) without insulting others. Thanks god, recently it got much better. I personally enjoyed this drama (although I don't claim it was perfect) but I undestand that everybody has a different taste and is sensitive to different things. I just want to share my opinion on the "toxicity" of the couples (I hate the word because it's so vague) and the "bad message" the show is giving. I think that these shows are not made to serve as an example how relationships should go. They are meant to entertain, not to educate. Some say that these shows can be dangerous for teenagers who watch it because they would think that the behaviour there is normal. I think teenagers are not so naive. They watch many things with different types of behaviour and experience different types of behaviour in real life, as well, so they can compare and create their own opinion and learn from their own experience. Moreover, most of them even watch p*rn (I don't claim it's a good thing but it's reality) so I don't think that a show like this would corrupt them so much. Not everything we watch has to be an example of a perfect "non-toxic" behaviour. Even real life is not like that. We can of course discuss it and address the bad things that appeared there but we should not expect and demand that there will only be morally pure shows. When I was a teenager, I watched many shows with examples of a bad behaviour and I dare to say it did not affect my life. Moreover, do you really think that the creators read these discussions and make their decissions based on them? I think the only thing that matters to them is the number of views. So, if you want to show them that you were not satisfied with the show, you should stop watching because otherwise you are just contributing the a bigger number of views and the creators will assume you enjoyed it. I'm not saying you should not watch it when you hate it, just be aware of these consequences.
Here I go with my essay, that hopefully no one will take too seriously. I cannot believe we got high to defend…
💯% agree. You even have exactly the same thoughts about Bad Buddy as me lol. I like how you mentioned classical fairy tales. Beauty and the Beast is a good example because Bella was forced to live together with the beast just like Kuea. And in Cinderella, the main character hid her true identity before the prince just like Kuea before Lian. In Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, the girls "had no backbone" and married the princes just because they saved them, without even knowing them properly. So we can either cancel it all or just not take it so seriously which I think is a better option. I think that even children are not that stupid and have many different resources where they can learn about human behaviour. Maybe they take the stories seriously when young but later learn that real life is different so it does not have any permanent negative impact on their lives.
