Let's analyze this carefully. When people attack your character instead of addressing your actions or words, it can sometimes indicate that you have challenged their views, influence, or comfort zone.

Accountability, Suicide, Racism, and the N-Word

People who committed suicide are people who felt they had NO WAY OUT of a situation because people like you did not lend a helping hand. Suicide can happen when someone is facing bullying, systematic racism, malicious or mischievous behavior, harassment, or deliberate mistreatment. It can happen when you witness a group making someone else’s life a living hell and you stand there doing and saying NOTHING. When people are suffering, we should not ignore them. We should step in, speak up, and offer a helping hand.

Now, regarding the N-word: the N-word is not for White, Asian, or other non-Black people to use. That derogatory word has a specific history of anti-Black racism and oppression. AA and FBA communities have reclaimed the N-word in certain contexts.

Black people reclaimed the N-word to strip a tool of racist oppression of some of its painful power, turning a symbol of hate into a sign of survival, solidarity, and shared identity. By changing the sound and context, speakers can take control of language that was historically used to harm them.

That is a power shift. Taking a word that was meant to degrade Black people and using it on one's own terms can remove some of the power from the person who originally used it as a weapon.

Instead of you, her agency, and her manager coming up with excuses, the appropriate response should have been simple:

Apologize to the AA and FBA communities and DON'T USE THE N-WORD AGAIN.

De-escalate. Make peace. Take accountability.

ALL of y'all came up with hundreds of excuses for BLACKPINK, KNOWING full well what the N-word represents and why it is offensive.

The N-word is rooted in historical anti-Black racism, chattel slavery, and white supremacy. It is considered one of the most offensive and dehumanizing insults in the English language.

So why make excuses? Do you think being a popular K-pop idol makes someone entitled or powerful enough to use a word with that history?

If even one Black person finds out that BLACKPINK members used the N-word, the wider Black community can become aware of it. When the backlash comes, you should not blame or victimize the people who were offended. Deal with your own guilty conscience and take responsibility for your actions.

“What's up, my N-word?” is not a phrase that non-Black people are entitled to use simply because they hear Black people use it among themselves. Reclamation within a community does not give outsiders permission to use a racial slur against that community.

And when it comes to Black culture, recognize the enormous contributions Black people have made to music and popular culture — POP, R&B, ROCK 'N' ROLL, BALLAD, RAP, SOUL, and countless other forms of music and cultural innovation. Those contributions deserve acknowledgment, respect, and proper credit.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Take accountability. Apologize. Learn from it. De-escalate. Make peace. And DON'T USE THE N-WORD AGAIN.
