I'm fans of donghua too since 2017 and I read the novel, I'm so satisfied and approved of this season but indeed irl it's underrated in China. luckily the cast still promote normally ~~
after i return home in few days i marathon until current ep ✨ it's so good! sadly it's kind of underrated
for the soul ring i don't want to comment because original always better (donghua) 🤣 even in this season the soul ring cgi is not good but i still satisfied. i would like to share grandmaster clothes in this season is very similar with donghua ver, since i didn't remember much regarding S1 i can't say for others character (alt i do checked it) while the hammer, I'm sorry s1 hammer is so weird for me, this season hammer, atleast the design is same as donghua though.
If you willing to give it try you can try watch the donghua as it's completed you can watch their grand wedding (tsk i didn't know this season they able to adapt until that far or not, i guess probably not).

actually i do watch first season, half away but I give up until now I can't continue. its not because of cgi etc actually. for me, because some matter is changed (what I mean is for the some fact) i can't accept the changed their made based on novel, the changing of the some fact is not even logical (for me personally ya).
while this season for that fact (a few that bother me before) it's keep intact, as this is live action can't say about reborn. their conversation still talk about like "maybe from another world".
i start watch donghua in 2017 and after that reading the novel, and I read and watch another adaption by this author... soul land aka duoluo dalu is my first donghua that mean lot for me.
at first I'm very excited because i like xz and personally to compare yiran is suit as ts (young version for their visual) while xz visual indeed suit as ts adult. for drama ver s1 i watch a few ep, give up. a few yrs later i try again and already watched more than half but ..i can't. i trying though.

i love this season more because not only cgi is suitable with donghua but the storyline and the cast (not all but most of them very suitable the donghua ver chr). the plot here is I can say 90% same, with some additional scene that is not disrupt the original 👍
