What's the obsession with Japanese drama and makeovers? Especially when it comes to female characters who don't wear make-up. Even the dramas where women defy gender-norms, at the end they always conform anyway.
I tried reading this manga, but the way it approached the subject of sexual assault and the inappropriate relationship between the teacher and the student I had to stop. Hopefully the film is going to be smarter when it comes to handling these subjects
How embarrassing is the couple of Ina and the older boy. It is very forced. The couple is impossible. Maybe it…
The actress is very tiny and looks rather young compared to some of her classmates. It makes watching her and the boy together a tad awkward. Also didn't make much sense to me that they got together, because what does he like about her exactly? That she doesn't talk and is super awkward? lol
Mari had dissociative identity disorder. The twist is that there was no soul swapping at all.She had various personalities.…
Both? Isn't one of the reasons why Mari dissociates because she's a lesbian and feels like she can't be because there is a societal role that she has to fulfil? She liked the idea of Isao because his life seemed easy compared to hers, she doesn't want all the responsibilities that are pushed upon her. Yeah, she stalked him in return, but it wasn't because of anything romantic. Girl had major issues.
Not the drama ruining the female friendship over guys. Their friendship was wholesome in the webtoon. Japanese…
The way women interact in Japanese dramas is always so darn toxic, especially if it takes place at a high school or university. The lead always has a frenemy and a bunch of girls being hateful towards her because they are jealous or whatever. Then of course the guys will show these women what true friendship/true love really is, because apparently women can't be that for one another. It's so tiring.
So sun outted 4 people during one dinner and people are blaming Ongsa?
The trailer for the next episode makes it seem like Sun is justified in her anger and that Ongsa is feeling super guilty and doing everything in her power to apologize and make things right. Hopefully this isn't going to be the format of the entire episode, because I do want Ongsa to also stand up for herself. She needs to let Sun know that it wasn't right of her to out her in front of her parents (and Luna/Aylin for that matter). Even if Sun forgave her for her catfishing bullshit, Ongsa shouldn't let Sun walk all over her. I mean, what kind of message is this going to send to teenagers watching this?
Yes it is aimed for a teenage audience and I like it so far but sun got on my nerves when she said she doesn't…
Exactly! All I could think was... If she's already this jealous and possessive now, just imagine what she would be like in an actual long term relationship. People keep mentioning how it's ''cute'' and shows how much she likes Ongsa, but if she weren't tiny and cute (and a male character for example), no one would say it's cute or endearing.
This episode definitely cemented that Ongsa is kind of a self-insert.
Makeover trope, which let's be real, wasn't really a makeover besides taking off glasses + hair down as always. Everyone noticed when she walked into the class and all I could think was ''girl looks the same!'' lmao. Sun now being overly forgiving and borderline crazy with her jealousy and infatuation, while Ongsa has done little to nothing to warrant that (hello, she's a catfish and nothing but awkward at all times). Story is still cute, but the writing is bad and somewhat cringe. Guess it makes sense since it seems to be aimed at a teen audience, but not sure if they are sending all the right messages if you read a bit deeper into their more troubling behaviours. Ah... guess I am getting too old for this kind of media, i'm turning into a bitter old hag lol.
They are teenagers and mistakes are bound to be made, but the catfishing and ghosting was messed up. For the story I would love for them to set aside their differences and get together... however, i would have told Sun to get away as fast as she can if this were to happen in real life lol.
I'm very disappointed in this. It wasn't that fun to watch, because this girl went in and just killed everyone…
Y'all always be saying this about these types of films with female leads, but never say the same shit when it's one dude taking on an entire gang. It's a revenge fantasy, just take it for the entertainment it is.
Cute story about getting out of one's comfort zone, working together despite differences, and fighting for what's right, no matter the circumstances. This special does seem to be allergic to the word autism though.
Playing with gender roles is OK of course, but there seems to be a hint of loli which is definitely not on. But…
Old dude who has a loli schoolgirl avatar himself.: ''I dislike sexualized avatars''. The creators cannot be this ignorant about the fetishization of schoolgirls right ? lol Why is Japan always portraying these middle aged men as super harmless, naive, and like they are basically children in a grown male's body?
Ending felt a little lackluster compared to the rest of the drama. Especially Ha-Rin's downfall. Was already somewhat expecting this because endings for dramas like these are always predictable and they tend to squeeze it all into the final episode, but her just lighting the place on fire and the reveal that she's a druggy was underwhelming. Girl was super unhinged throughout and I was expecting her to go with a bang, but all she did was faint because she took a bunch of opioids after confronting Ja-eun in a half-assed way. Sure, she was always insane and unhinged, but she was a mastermind like character through and through. At the end there was nothing left of that, just a shell of a person who was lead astray by irrational emotions and decided to give up because next to trying to make Ja-eun's life a living hell she had nothing else to live for. Ha-rin was one-dimensional (as was the actress's acting) and the deeper look into her upbringing did nothing to change that fact. Yawn.
I don't see anyone talking about Jang Da Ah's acting. the way her eye throbs with anger in the scene where she…
Because it truly isn't that great. She's doing an ok job for a rookie but so far her acting has been monotone as hell. Script hasn't given her much to work with though. It's either blank face or anger.
The boy is asexual, the 'crazy' girl is bisexual (queer) and the calm girl is closeted lesbian.
She's a closeted lesbian? I thought she was bisexual, nothing indicated that she was a lesbian. Not saying you're wrong, it could be possible, she and Tatoe seemed more platonic than anything really. My interpretation was that Ai might have been a closeted lesbian, because she didn't really love Tatoe, she just liked the idea of him. Guess it depends on the way you look at it.
The pervert girl who has a crush on Jaeun is a girl group fan in the webtoon. Why did they make her a boy group…
Perhaps because they already added two other lesbian characters to the drama that weren't explicitly gay in the webtoon. Could also be that they made her bi and her being in an all-girls school means it's a bit difficult to perv on boys so she gotta target girls.
Also didn't make much sense to me that they got together, because what does he like about her exactly? That she doesn't talk and is super awkward? lol
