Yes I've read the novel before. Do read it if you can read Chinese, if not there's an English translation in progress. The drama starts to deviate from the novel around Episode 10. The novel also starts with Xiaosu and Zhenrong meeting up, breaking up, Zhenrong dying, Xiaosu working really hard to forget the pain, Yuzheng seeing her. In the novel though, Yuzheng and Xiaosu had a one night stand, whereas it is only implied here.

Yea I think it has to do with the license expiring because usually licenses expire after 3 years, and it would have expired April 2021. I am supposing that they renewed the license and during that process, some scenes had to be deleted for it to air.

LYZ's father had a stroke most likely due to the company and LYZ going in prison. In episode 27-28, his father passes away, which makes him be even more down. LYZ is blaming himself for his father getting a stroke, then dying.

The original novel ending is a open ending, but there are fan-written extra chapters that are a happy ending.

In the next episodes' trailers, LYZ goes to jail and it has something to do with Qun Fei accidentally saying something. :( Just saying, Qun Fei is the personal assistant to the President of Yutian, so I don't get how Siqi looks down on him, like that is a really good job already! In episode 14, did anyone else realize that Lei Yuzheng says, "wo dui ni tai shiwang le", I am so disappointed in you, instead of "ni you mei you yi dian lianchi zhixing", do you have any dignity? If you read his lips he says do you have any dignity, as in the first trailer. Why did they have to change that though... It makes more sense for her to slap him if he said the original line.

In the first trailer released a few years back, you can see that there is a one night stand scene. I think that due to censorship, they got rid of the scene, and it in an episode, Lei Yuzheng tells Xiaosu he left after leaving her at the hotel. But we can assume as he references it.

Yea, in episode 12? He hides the proposal that Lin Xiangyuan gave him instead of putting it with the other files.

I believe Lei Yuzheng goes to jail because Lin Xiangyuan makes his company bankrupt. The drama’s plot is sort of different than the novel. In the novel the ending is a free ending, they don’t end up together. (But in the novel there is a R scene, which causes Xiaosu to hate him)

Those chapters are actually fan-written chapters, not from the actual author. The actual authors' ending where they meet after some time is he sees her, but he does not get near. He feels that by watching her safe and happy faraway, he is content.
