You do know this is based on a novel and this is how her character is written. The script writer has some creative freedom but not to the point they can change the whole character. Didn’t the Nanjing arc shows a different side to her character? and I personally think Esther executed it brilliantly here.

I think some viewers just don’t like a 19-20 years old girl acts cute and sometimes child like, even though her character is written that way. She is supposed to behave more matured in their opinion. I understand these viewers preference because liking certain style of acting is subjective. Fortunately there are lots of dramas to choose from and as long as we keep it civil and respectful in the comments section then there is no problem at all.
