The writing of this story is fantastic! The acting of the cast makes me feel their hardship, their joy and their love for the land and for each other. I almost forgotten it’s a drama as I am so captivated by their world.
Maybe not reading the book before watching this drama is a blessing because I am enjoying the drama as it is. When I see He Yan I see Mulan. I love her spirit, loyalty and bravery. Only a few actresses can deliver this role, and Zhou Ye’s casting is perfection. The rest of the cast are also delivering.
Love all the fighting scenes and how she trained when she got angry. Still can feel the chemistry between them even when they are not talking to each other. Only 12 episodes left and this is one of the dramas I wish to have at least 40 episodes.
Wang Xing Yue and He Luo Luo are outstanding for their role. Both are young, but have very matured acting style. The drama itself is solid and a good watch. The plot is complicated, but intriguing at the same time. I am putting a spoiler tag because you can guess who Yesha is 😉
Love Zhou Ye as a female General. She is really doing the role justice, also with humour and vulnerability when needed. Love her onscreen chemistry with Cheng Lei as well. I am enjoying their acting immensely.
This series is outstanding to me. Sure it’s not perfect, but given how sensitive the topic is and took two years to pass censorship, the cast and crew did a fantastic job. Reba is outstanding in it and so is the rest of the cast. This series breaks my heart, so many times, but I think the message was delivered well and the ending is good enough for me.
