By the way, the thing that I don't understand here is: how had the ML (with his headache attacks & sudden faints)…
That is the side effects of his surgery. He does not normally get them, only under severe stress. In Korea it is also fairly easy to obtain your driving license.
This is/was disrespecting on so many levels, because this show is mainly hyped because of Hwang Jung-min. And also... age is quite important in Korea, so if you want to choose one or the other... Always go for the biggest and oldest/most experienced star. In this case, Hwang Jung-min. A while ago, Kim Sae-ron dropped out of "School 2020" because of reasons I mentioned, because they were disrespecting her seniority in the industry.
I am not dissing her acting abilities by the way. Even if they would cast Son Ye-jin or Jun Ji-hyun as his co-star, MDL should still list Hwang Jung-min first as he is their sunbae. Best is to list them both like MDL did now.
I did exactly the opposite. I read the synopsis and thought it would be bad-ass, but I am watching it and I am…
By the way, I have a question, but since this forum is not really active, I am just gonna ask you the question...
Regarding Hirose Alice... Did she have an affair with the old geezer? I really do not know what to make of this. I find it a weird dynamic, because she is totally not discrete with it. I also find it strange that for example the ramen dude would say things such as "Fukuzo-san would come here often for ramen" (as if they were really lovers...). I know cheating is no biggie in Japan, but I find it too casual. Almost shameless how open they are with it. Again, it is also mysogynistic. She is clearly too clumsy and slow to do the work, but she is able to retain her job because she was protected by the bank president. However, if he only treated her as a daughter, then I totally misinterpreted their relationship.
Although this detail is really irrelevant to the story, I find it interesting how different the moral and values of Japanese are. But I find the values on cheating in this show very aggressive, even more aggressive than mature shows such as "Otto no Chinpo ga Hairanai" or even "Raise de wa Chanto Shimasu". So surely I must have a dirty mind and they were not actually having an affair (not even an emotional affair)?!
I directly started it without reading anything about it, and YES! Such a good and interesting first episode! strong…
I did exactly the opposite. I read the synopsis and thought it would be bad-ass, but I am watching it and I am not a fan. I find the character too grey, because they apply their moral compasses selectively - covering the death of the president and telling Hirose Alice to keep her relationship with the bank president a secret is not fighting corruption in my book (perhaps even the opposite). Also, I find the character roles a bit mysogynistic. Even though Japan is very masculine society, they must give these females a more important function than a secretary to make it more convincing. It is simply not believable that a seceratary controls a bank. It gives me a bit of Hanzawa Naoki-vibes, but less convincing and less fierce.
Anyone care to explain the relationship between Hirose Alice's character and the Bank President? Apparently they are only meeting up in hotels for food and to play trump (like for real?!)... Does that mean that she was only his friend/mentee? And not some mistress? Can't really understand the whole vibe between them...
Arguing that this season, of all things, is a "brand" scam is probably one of the most stupidest post I have ever…
He is entitled to his opinion, but his wording is always so embellished. According to his profile he is Japanese... For a Japanese person, he speaks quite good English... Unfortunately, his English teacher must have been Donald Trump. He even copied DJ's passive-aggressive theatrics.
His first sentence about his generosity is already laughable. No one cares about his "generosity". If you do not like it, just give it a "1". I hate these kind of people. He is the type of guy that will donate his ripped clothes to charity and then tell everyone how kind-hearted he is.
I think his wife is not so tame as she comes across. She was the one that told her husband about Park Gwang-su.…
Forget what I said, I might have been wrong. I tried looking the scene up, but it now said that he heard it from Park Gwang-su's wife personally. I thought he initially said that he heard it from his own wife. Or it was another scene or some bad translation.
Is Han Yeojin becoming someone who is bad at judging character around her? I did not recall anything that implied…
You didn't? HYJ covered up for CB, whilst she wanted to indict the druggie. CB told her to hold off until the battle for the investigation rights and she respected her order. CB is someone that just like HSM only follows the right path, they are unmovable rocks. The fact that she listened to CB shows her respect and HYJ willingness to follow her and trust her like she does with HSM.
Also, CB promoted HYJ to the investigation committee, whilst the two other dudes were more senior. She even allowed HYJ to select the fourth member. This shows their mutual respect
what about the whole thing about SDJ's wife? wasn't she acting real sus? I guess they just dropped that.
I think his wife is not so tame as she comes across. She was the one that told her husband about Park Gwang-su. PGS' wife told SDJ's wife that he never drinks, so SDJ thought he might have been murdered. By that token, SDJ's wife was afraid that her husband received the same treatment as PGS because he stuck his nose in stuff that he should be involved in. What she did is what a strong woman is doing and that is protecting her children and cutting out the losses. She thought SDJ was dead and therefore she should not continue poking further and endanger the rest of her family. A bit what PGS' wife did when WTH started threatening her. Both looked incredibly nervous when they were lying. She only started showing her real self when they announced the alleged suspect was the Segok officer and not Hanjo. That was when she felt confident enough to start crying (which was the normal reaction one would expect in these situations). Prior to that, she was in survival mode (protecting her family). The same she was doing when they found SDJ's body and she called her mom to tell her not to let her son watch the news to see his dad half-dead.
Why is everything of this show so prophetic. The scene with the Western Seoul Office and Seo Dong-jae and Hwang Si-mok as last men standing and Kim Sa-hyun's rhetoric question about "Why did they end up so different?". It is fucking beautiful. Solid 10/10
After all the criticism and complaints about how S2 is different from S1 from writing, acting and directing. I…
Outside Record of Youth (and the Netflix produced shows such as Kingdom, Extracurricular and The School Nurse Files), no other show has been pre-produced this year... The only reason that Record of Youth is pre-produced is because of PBG's enlistment. Sure, we might see some more shows being (partially) pre-produced this year, but this is because of Covid. Many shows has pushed back their airing dates, so they have already recorded many episodes. Stranger 2 and Record of Youth are the only two shows where the choice to pre-produced was a deliberate decision.
Also, with fans... You mean the international fans? There are not a lot of Korean fans complaining. This also shows in the viewership ratings.
I know this won't be a popular post but i would still like to express my views on the subject. I also apologize…
SDJ is a rat, but that makes him no different than the rest of the corrupt Prosecution office. Let's say, he is the least evil of the bunch haha.
What makes him a cool character is that he really is persistent. He has the same passion as Eun-soo had in the first season.
I also do not think that a lot of people see him as a hero, but a lot people see him as someone that is not valued for his qualities. Skill wise, he is definitely at the level of HSM. I also think that HSM realizes it, because he reiterates a few times about how he was also trained by SDJ. Also, when WTH asks him about SDJ, he said that SDJ is very good at what he does (but insinuated that he was also shady...) However, at his current workplace, they treat him as shit. He is not invited to drinks, he functions as a driver and he works on bullying cases... He is disrespected and every viewer knows it. We therefore feel for him.

I don't know... What kind of pressure are we talking about? Rating-wise, it blows the first season out of the water. Also, the show is pre-produced. This is a clear indication that TVN, the writer and the actors could not give a shit about the reactions. They wanted to create a quality drama according to their taste and so they did... The trouble is more getting all the A-list actors together and coming up with a script of the same quality as Season 1 and 2.
THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES.To be honest, I find it very difficult to understand that bullying can lead people…
I am really interested to know where you live. It must be a great and peaceful country. This is not sarcastic, I am really curious. Even in the West, bullying is often a motive for murder. Ever heard of "school shootings"? Most of the time these people are above-average intelligent (nerdy, but smart)
That's possible. This will also prove to be a reason for the fake witness to testify, apart from the award money.I…
What if this whole season is about bullying? - Tongyeong case - Segok case - Park Gwang-su case? After all, we saw that Woo Tae-ha really likes to force people his eating habits. Remember in one of the first episodes that he forced Hwang Si-mok to eat the intestines and smoke with him, but he refused. Kim Sa-hyun was like "Wtf is wrong with this dude?". Imagine that Woo Tae-ha forced Park Gwang-su to drink with him, which he cannot do due to his weak health
I just started to watch this and oh come onnn! That Mother in law is just a director of some cosmetics company,…
You might not be aware, but the richest woman in the world is the owner of L'Oreal with 66 billion USD. One of the richest persons in Korea is the owner of Amorepacific.
Only a few years ago, cosmetics were one of the highest growing industries and businesses would change hands for billions. For example, Procter & Gamble's cosmetics business was sold for 12.5 billion USD. Unilever bought Carver Korea for 2.7 billion USD. Cosmetics is a high margin and big-business... It made even Kylie Jenner at one point a billionaire.
