Yeah, it's tough. Especially because she said: "Do you want to have dinner with me?" This is eerily close to "Do you want to have ramyeon with me?", which is just the Korean version of "Netflix and chill" (i.e. "Do you want to sleep with me?"). But I hope that the ML's alexithymia does its work this time. However, it seems that this illness works with almost everybody, except for the FL haha

They fucked up the timelines and parallel-universes so much, that it could be the case that the ML is his own dad. I do not know how they are going to make a story without plotholes around it. But the director is putting a lot of effort in making the scenes between the ML and FL romantic with dinner invites, music and jealous crushes.

However, I noticed that when you ignore the romantic angle/music and watch the scenes from a mother and son-perspective, the scenes look like heartwarming bonding moments between a parent and a kid. I must say that it requires me quite some mental gymnastics to get this idea in my mind, because the scenes are so romcom-ish

For people saying that there is a lot of talking.......Did you, like, not watch the first season? I don't know…
Both season 1 and 2 contain a lot of talking. I remember that with season 1 there was so much talking that the subtitles could not even keep up with the pace.

The difference between both seasons is that season 1 was much more straightforward. It started out as a simple murder case and we ended up in a complex web of corruption etc. etc. This season is the opposite, we started off complex with hints of corruption, but we have now narrowed it down to a single case. This can be frustrating to watch for some, because they threw an overload of information and the writer is now trying to explain the connections to the viewer. Therefore, this show lends itself well better for binge-watching, because then you will get answers to your questions immediately.

I do not necessarily agree. Men are more blunt, so they tend to be harsher at face value, but at the end of the day they are more lenient in the background. For example with workplace reviews, they will hardly give the lowest grade. Women, on the other hand, are more caring, but when they are "hating" they will not give up.

Men can easily "chill" with each other, but women will fight each other trying to be the queen bee. There is even research conducted on it: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/09/the-queen-bee-in-the-corner-office/534213/

Women are harsher when they do not like something. So when they really dislike a certain show, they would easily give a 1, whilst a guy might give a 2.5 or something. The only shows where women tend to give too high grades are those shows with their oppas. But Stranger 2 does not have a lot of oppas. Also, I think that the Stranger-franchise appeals more to men. Hence, why the first season and also the second season have okay-ish ratings. Women (the main consumers of kdramas) are not tuning in like they did for CLOY or even a What's Wrong With Secretary Kim or Encounter.

There is a few reasons why they took him in. 1. His son hit DHS, which is a bit difficult to hide. Unless you kill DHS like BHS was planning to. 2. BHS has to perform mandatory military service, so sooner or later he has to return.

I think BHS was kept in coma against his will. It is the only way for his father to control him. In other words, his dad wants him to stay alive, but stay bedridden. Because when he wakes up, he will continue his killing streak.

I think both seasons deserve a similar rating. Season 1 was superior suspense-wise, but season 2 has the better script.

What makes season 1 great? - The pace and the intensity... It was not out-of-the-box plotwise. It had all the traditional kdrama tropes: it was about a spiteful parent seeking revenge for his kid, a somewhat cringe-worthy strong female that wants to clear her father's name and an ex-prosecutor that masterminded a plan to break corruption. Although executed extremely well, not a lot of people realize that they were watching a more classy take on a makjang.

This season is better plotwise, because the story is more well-researched and complicated. I am still figuring out what is going on, but the storyline keeps me at the edge of my seat. We are basically peeling the layers of an onion every week.

I say about 50/50. Based on the later episodes, I think Moon Chae-won is arguably better than Lee Joon-gi. But…
I am not trying to hurt your fan feelings. It is quite the contrary... I am using an example that you can level with. If I would name a woman that I find beautiful... Let's say Moon Chae-won, there is a chance you would respond with "I do not understand you, because I find MCW ugly". Now I took a woman of which I was fairly certain that you find her beautiful (because you use her profile picture) and explained to you how ridiculous it is of some people to call someone "ugly or a bad actress" so easily. Compare my effort as explaining a vague concept in layman's terms. Surely you have used metaphors, similes or analogies in your daily life to explain stuff to people before?

You are sort of right... However, when a lot of people disagree with you, you should also be "(wo)man enough" to realize that your opinion might not be totally correct. Initially there were people calling her a bad actress... But that word is a bit too abstract and too strong.

For example, I do not find Irene from RV as pretty as the majority of the people. However, I will and can not call her ugly, because that is too strongly formulated. Even though opinions can differ, there is a limit to how much they can differ (if you understand what I am saying). Calling MCW a bad actress and Irene ugly is blatantly wrong - there is no room for interpretation here. My two cents.

You call it toxic, I call being honest. I was giving him a tip to help him. I have not belittled his language skills by the way, because he can clearly speak English. However, he is unnecessary using stylistic elements in his writing to come across more native, which is actually counterproductive. By introducing him to the "KISS"-principle, his fluency will improve massively. Because he knows the words, but he only needs to keep it brief and his communication will be easier to follow. Although I agree with you that this comment section might not be the right outlet.

I totally enjoyed the first two episodes, but not a huge fan of the episodes that followed. The FL is so condescending…
So basically you are saying that Kim Hee-sun did her job well? There is a reason why the ML refuses to let her research the card, right? Because he finds her rude as well... Imagine that Kim Hee-sun portrayed her role as you want her to do, then we would all pity her for not able to research the card haha

I thought it was her too or his wife who looks guilty! Just couldn’t find their motives. Was the female prosecutor…
The wife might be nervous, because she tipped SDJ about the murdered ex-prosecutor/Hanjo case. Remember when SDJ went to Hanjo and asked Lee Yeon-jae about the dead ex-prosecutor and she did not know that he was hired? SDJ replied that he was certain about it, because the ex-prosecutor's wife told his wife about it. So SDJ's wife might think that he is murdered just like her friend's husband. She might feel guilty, because she is the one that tipped her husband. She might also be afraid of her family's safety, because her husband poked the bear that is Hanjo

I am not making fun of someone's language skills. It just reminds me of those t-shirts that they sell in Asia with poorly translated English texts. I am just giving the person a tip that it sometimes works better to keep it simple, then use some made-up imagery.

I found it ironic, because he is doing the same of what he accuses the writer of this show of - having style over substance.

Sorry if I rub you in the wrong way, but I was actually not trolling. It is fairly obvious that you are not a native speaker, because you use figure of speeches to make it sound more impressive. But it actually makes it more confusing. An example of this would be "jumbled ramen was straightened" or repeating words such as "her butler, yeah the multipurpose butler". Although I am not a native speaker myself, the first rule of any language is "KISS" (an acronym for "keep it simple, stupid"). So if you want to make your point clear (and sound native), you need to make it brief and simple. Do not take this as a diss, but I just found it ironic - it is just my childish humor.
