If you're going to accuse someone of being a copycat, at least check the dates. Gameboys aired 2 weeks before…
Yes, Gameboys wasn’t making a great creative leap. However, it was the first BL which used the video calling format (as far as I know) and has no doubt inspired many people to make their own BL’s with a similar format. I don’t know for sure if Truly Very Yours was inspired by Gameboys. It may have. It may not have. I do think that it is possible to create a BL series, especially one with a low budget like Truly Very Yours, in 2 weeks though. In terms of Truly Very Yours copying Gameboys, I purposely used a fake title to try to hook in potential readers like how YouTubers do. When I said that they wanted their own version of Gameboys, I meant more like the format rather than the story, which I do acknowledge are completely different. And it’s okay to be inspired by Gameboys. I think that Black Sheep was inspired by Gameboys to create Hello Stranger, which is my favourite pinoy BL so far and which I like so much more than Gameboys. I know that you also like Hello Stranger more than Gameboys too. I like how you stood your ground when people commented hate under your review for Gameboys. Every opinion is valid. You like Truly Very Yours. I did not. We both liked Hello Strangers and did not like Gameboys. That’s the beauty of art and criticism. It helps foster discussion and debate. Some people aren’t receptive to having their thoughts countered, but I’m glad that you expressed your thoughts.
What happened to the shirtless Orion dude from Episode 6? I thought that he was Tep's LA boyfriend, but Tep said that that was a lie. Hopefully, it will be addressed in Episode 8.
I got really bored with Episode 4: Three-Ang-Gulo (Trianggulo). Kumusta Bro? had become tiresome already. It didn't…
I agree. I actually enjoyed the first two episodes, but the latest episode was quite a bore. Even the introduction of a love triangle didn't really interest me. Can you tell me more about the full narrative series though? This is my first time hearing about it. Will it be Thirdy and Dean's story without the interactive component?
I just wanna say f*uck you to everyone who disrespects single mothers. Once the father comes in the picture then…
I was just thinking about this! It's so archaic and dumb! Though I do love Dae Oh and am really enjoying this drama, the idea that a mother and her daughter needs a man to help protect them is idiotic. On a similar note, the idea that a child needs a father and a mother to be happy and fulfilled is also old-fashioned and completely false.
Disappointed by the end! A typical fan service drama that grasps you by the looks mostly. Abundance of emotions,…
Completely agree with you! The first half of the series was strong! It was unique, interesting and fascinating. There was a fantasy/horror edge to it. However, the series delved into a standard melodrama in its second half and all that potential was wasted. Thought that the drama was good, but nowhere near what it could've been.
Episode 10 was nice. We were introduced to Win’s family and learned a bit about Tops’ family. I really liked learning that Win was pursuing his dreams instead of working with the family business, which his brother tries to guilt him. Tops’ spiel to Win about the importance of chasing your dreams while still maintaining a relationship with your family was also touching.
My Day is probably the most anticipated filipino BL's, especially on social media! I see so many people mention how excited they were for this series, so of course, I had to check it out when it aired. The first teaser which showed the elevator scene wasn't anything special, but its trailer was very impressive, showcasing a budget and production value that I have yet to see in pinoy BL's. I love that pinoy BL's are getting high budgets! For the budget though, couldn't the slightly blurry cinematography be crisper? The audio could also be clearer. The music, though pretty, is a bit too much, making it feel like a Disney fairytale story with its flourishes which clearly it isn't. The acting could be better also as it felt like everyone was trying too hard. However, I love that this series is taking the classic story of poor meets rich, but with a BL twist. The story is quite interesting and I am already completely hooked just by watching the first episode. Yes, there are some flaws in the story, mainly the mean girlfriend trope and the comedic fat gay trope, but the set-up of Ace and Sky's story is perfect. I love that the series will be exploring parental expectation/pressure in Ace's character.
On a side note, I was surprised to hear some English swearing with a few f*ck's said within the first episode. Also, when Sky's brother threw water at Sky's girlfriend when she was frightened by an insect falling on her, I died! That was comedic genius! I LOVED that moment and couldn't stop laughing!
On a different side note, I'm okay with product placement in series but when the product being advertised is an instant skin whitening lotion. Just no. There's already a huge colorism issue in Asian countries. We don't need our BL's to perpetuate the idea that fair skin is better and more desirable than darker skin. And there wasn't just one skin whitening product placement, but two! All in one episode! Hopefully, there won't be anymore distasteful product placements in the series.
Ugh. How disappointing. Another "I don't like boys, just him" answer. However, excluding that dialogue line, this series is progressing quite nicely. There's less filler and TauTep's relationship really pulls you in, It's definitely one of my favorite BL's currently airing at the moment along with Hello Stranger.
Off to a shaky start. The audio quality is quite bad. The cinematography choices are off-putting and unflattering. The acting is flat and leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully, the series will get better as it progresses. Not sure why they decided to release the first half of the first episode on a day and the second half a few days later...
