This was on eof my most anticipated dramas of the year and the opening did NOT DISAPPOINT Mindblown...so much better than I actually anticipated earlier on.
The main villian was the insecurity of King Injo that pushed him not only to cast aside the son who literally willingly chose to be a captive for Qing but all he gets in return is to be called a traitor after his return and mysterious death....Even Qing treated him better than that for his resilience and intelligence... This made me realise just how many royal kids must have succumbed to the plots of the villains and so many remained unnamed just to save themselves from their evil plots or disregarded if they didn't show something extraordinary which in case of daughters was to be married into influence... As you grow up you realise the desire to become royalty that you have watching fairytales and Christmas movies growing up was based on your rose coloured glasses which as soon as they fell off you realise you're better off being a commoner with potential to soar high and achieve anything you want with your own efforts and not your Royal title cuz trust me that title comes with huge baggage.
It all came full circle...Jang Hyun who was treated as a selfish person by all but in reality he always cared, Gil Chae who was really the selfish one grew to become a wise, compassionate woman capable of protecting her one true love... All the character were beautifully written, the historical premise was so accurate that it was wonderful to witness. The way wen were abandoned for losing their dignity, the corrupted leaders who basically sold out thier own country...so on point and educating. It was a wonderful story...the love story was so well written without disregarding the political premise and feeling over the top.
Finally, it was who we all thought would be in the prison in the was beginning was Ryang Eun who let the historian know how the king and his own father painted Jang Hyun as the traitor. The 14 year old queen had no major value at the end and Concubine Cho ended up succeeding in Killing the Crown Prince who definitely had the potential to be the best King with a wise Queen but atleast our main couple are back together.
One question tho, What happened to the Crown Prince's heir that Gil Chae saved?
You're telling me Lee Hwi So survived only to be killed for no reason ?! Yes, I did throw all logic out of the window but I was here for Dami's revenge but now the story is scattered all over that it doesn't even make sense anymore ... Mo Ne you claim to really love him but you leave Do Hyuk in that condition REAL LOVE indeed but S2 will definitely make their ship sail again, just one word Disgusting... If that wasn't enough already, The only reason I'm watching this show is because of the actor of Do Hyuk's acting skills but I'm disappointed at how naive this supposedly GENIUS can be makes not even the sense of 2 cents 🙃
Looking back I'm not that satisfied with the ending. What would've been a 10/10 drama was single handedly by 1 ep pulled down to 9/10 . I know a time travel drama can be hard to wrap up but this is too much... We did not get and 1)Yi chan and Chung Ah moment after he lost his hearing, 2) did he get to attend college and fulfill grandmas dream? 3) What do the Watermelon sugar members do in future? 4) what does Yi chan do in future? 5) Why was Chung Ah's mom chased away which caused her nightmare for years but it magically got resolved? 6) Where is the mother figure tutor that father drove out because she couldn't make her speak? 7) What is the relationship of Se gyeong and Eun yu like in future? 8) did eun yu's parents get back together? 9) Eun gyeol was confused of the changes in his life then how did Eun yu figure out that Mr Viva is her grandfather? 10) how did Choi hyun/ jonathan become Mr viva all of a sudden? 11) where is Se gyeong's real mom? 12) How did Chung Ah and Yi chan reunite after s he came back from USA 13) I want more of Eun gyeol and eun yu family moments in the changed future.
I think Mr Viva being Eun gyeol's mentor makes sense inly when it shows that they changed the people around them's life but they did so by gling through the real timeline so they retain the real timeline's memories. PLEASE MAKE SPECIAL EPISODES PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Rewatching now, when Hyun says that Eun Gyeol looks like someone they knew in the past...looks like Yi chan figured out that his son travelled back in the past to help him, the proud smile says it all. Eun Gyeol really saved him and Chung Ah he couldn't prevent the accident but changed their lives for better I literally can't stop crying.
I will miss them so bad ... Bawling my eyes out for all of them. Yi Chan losing his hearing too has it's own essence sad but adds more meaning to the storyline. I I definitely wanted him to compose as Chung Ah too wanted him to continie music as he twinkles then but this story was more than your twinkling teenage it was about family, putting yourself first at times brings family closer and not pushes them apart, brotherhood, love, friendship and so much more... Also, the way it portrayed the ending with them living happily accepting their impairment without really considering themselves handicap is really the most important message nd step towards acceptance
The preview was as we all already expected a scene from Yi Chan's dream when he underwent surgery. He could not hear anything but he does not blame Eun Gyeol. Also, both will return to future. Eun Gyeol remembers how Yi Chan expresses he wants to be his dad in future and also the scene he asked him to male his dad understand that he wished to form a band so he chooses to return. I'm still hoping to find out the reason Chung Ah mom left and Yi chan going to college even if he cant hear since eun Gyeol interference made him able to use sign language already so maybe he can navigate through this and lead a happy, fulfilling, 'twinkling' life.
I mentioned this the last time i came here that i know for sure Do guk is the other guy involved in the accident with yi Joo and ep 6 proved my point he is and he turned back time for Yi Joo
There is definitely romance but I think we'll see Eun Woo being friends with Nam joo's son but couldn't save him hence the redemption arc where he tries to forgive himself by helping Nam Joo out
Tbh its a generic story trying to pull off something that would make it sound a lot more thrilling than it actually is...having been a thriller genre lover i I don't think i like the story so much. The only potential cook were the teacher or Ho su so it all came tied up when teacher was revealed as the cop. Min young is annoying but i I don't want her d*ad due to overdose i know elder sis will come through and save the day. It say 10 eps but with just 10 ep tying up the exposing Ho Su stint will be much harder and i fear will make the drama even more sloppy. The great casting is the only thing keeping me from dropping this one.

This is ought to be the fandoms slogan for a while 😂
Is it because he is in a seperate timeline altogether?
Thanks
