in middle of ep 6 why is queen mother against the marriage so much ? what impact will it have on her ?
I think she hates the idea of the exclusivity of nobles and royalty to end by making the bloodline impure by making a commoner a royal wife. Plus, she thinks that it'll weakem the authority of the crown which will weaken the authority of her and her son, the king. She's insecure of Ian from day 1 as she thinks he's better suited to be the king plus she knows she commited a crime by replacing the will. ( which side note, I think Lady Choi is the one with that evidence. She seems so lovely that way she asked Ian to cut Huiju some slack as she was already facing wrath in the court of public opinion, she seemed so motherly there. ) I also think that she related to Ian so she was infatuated by him too but he was 2nd in line and her prode didn't allow her to accept that
I said this before and I'll say it again that i love the bro and sil. They were genuinely afraid that something is fishy behind the mechanic's death ofc we know Inpyeong caused it. He is the biggest victim of the cheating his dad committed as he lost his mom overnight but he doesn't blame his sister. He knows his dad cares for Huiju too deep down but he still doesn't feel jealous to the extent of wanting to eliminate her. Same goes for Huiju too she also doesn't want to eliminate him which we see in other chaebol storylines. I love that these two are just like any other siblings, real ones at that. I wish they stay just like this. I'm enjoying the petty siblings' fights too 🤣
The ball dance scene was so beautiful. I love how the king trusts his uncle with no sliver of doubt, he is too kind for being used as a puppet king. Queen mother definetely noticed that Min likes Huiju she'll definitely use that to her leverage when they fall in love and refuse to divorce. I hate Ian's dad but i think he was influenced to think he was a threat by Inpyeong. However, i did find some light at the end of the tunnel from the perspective of Huiju's dad maybe he's guilty of causing his wife's death so directed his guilt on bestowing the son with all the riches while trying to shield Huiju from being in publice limelight so she doesnt have to be called illegitimate to her face always. He definitely knows about the car failure. I want to see the sister in law enter palace as someone Huiju can lean on. I said this before and I'll say it again that i love the bro and sil. So Ian has been jealous of Min ever since high school and both of them know that the other has a crush on their crush. Love BWS fell first and fell hard tropes Also, I like min but I think the difference between Ian and Min is that he was hesitant when Huiju mentioned serving another term but Ian is willing to protect her with his life while giving her the wings to fly. Ian and Huiju make each other better and I love to see it
I don't think Gi Beom is scarecrow That'll be too obvious and the start of this in 95 is somehow related to Si Yeong ig and scarecrow can be Gi Beom's brother
I might be a minority here but I love Taeju and his wife. The way Taeju cares for her, her leaving her noble status for him, the way she helps him when he does something silly, she's not even evil to her half sil till now which is an added bonus. Plus she is a shipper of Ian and Huiju ik it's for her own motives, but still that counts as something atleast.
Pretty sure the Queen Mother's dad Lord Inpyeong drove a wedge Between the king and the sons, he killed not only the former king his own sil but also the king as in their dad and the former queen. I guess the former queen was Ian's mom not his elder brothers. Now he brings snacks to his grandson which I feel like is definitely spiked somehow. Cuz the former king looked so scared like he was intoxicated somehow maybe that too was Inpyeong. The red car was tampered by Inpyeong too for sure
Ian being all pouty when he's jealous of the closeness of PM and Huiju and the way he smiles around her. His nightmares are gone too and he not only sleeps well but also smiles in his sleep. Man's so in LOVE. 🥺 Next episode he'll again try to sacrifice him happiness and accept the fate without question and decide to end the relationship but Huiju who is also slowly falling for him not only refuses Min but also makes Ian realise that they'll stand by each other's side. My ROMAN EMPIRE for sure.
To be fair both of them are children deep inside they pretty much did not have a childhood do you know what it…
Our ml is one who learnt restraint from it but still chose duty over animosity. So he was neither scared nor did he become a beast. A beautiful way of telling how the two of them still managed to work on themselves despite all of that.
What?! That's your reasoning of hating on the drama? That's literally telling me you're new to kdramas or you're…
I don't like it either but atleast they make it a part of the plot her not randomly "Are you hungry? Let's go get my fav sandwiches."
I might have came across as a bit harsh but I'm getting frustrated on the amt of hate that people are needlessly pouring in this drama mostly in BWS. So I got defensive cuz this is quite frankly that drama that is bringing me out of my kdrama slump.

Ik I wrote a comment earlier on how similar they are and how the way they love is also so similar to acts of service and saying things in a roundabout manner
Also, I didn't really understand the meanings of his name and the reason of name change I just think it was the king telling him to be the best but never better than the crown prince. So I'd appreciate if you could add more on that if you understood something else too 🥹
In the next episode we will see Ian crash his car into Huiju's to save her and also to avoid her being embroiled in another Scandal of trying to harm the king. Won't be?
I love the way they have written Huiju as of now. She is like a kid who was forced to grow up too quick. Abandoned by her mom, facing the naysayers all her life for being illegitimate. Getting the surname but being treated like a murderer who killed the legal wife. A father who had no interest on her at all that pushed her to prove herself all on her own but the only way she learnt to get his attention and 'love' was by asking things. But doing that and facing the world all in her own, a world that didn't recognise her, she faced an indelible inferiority complex and she thinks that only way to legitimise her efforts and claiming her name is by becoming the heir and not just the parts of the company that are beyond repair that her dad wants to give her so that she never becomes a threat to the son.
I want her to realise her worth as a human beyond the facade of being a chaebol by finding true love in Ian
