Every adaptation will be watered down. You just can't do the same with the drama as you would with the novel. Adjust your expectations and you won't be dissapointed.

It really doesn't feel very slow burn to me. They are flirting like crazy every ep so far.

Yea I hate age gap comments. Not every couple needs to be the exact same age. And they even look the same age to me in this drama so I really don't know what is the problem.

They made it pretty clear he was abused as child by his family so it is obvious why he would run away and work somewhere under different name.

Exactly. Costume dramas are very forgiving in this regard. Actors are always in full clothing and layering is easy with those robes.

I agree. Generally I want everybody to use their own voices but sometimes it's fine. Here FL and ML have VAs that suits them so it's ok for me. I also liked VA for Zhang Linghe in POJ.
