OMO, DaebakI'm so excited here to see it. IU and Byeon Woo Seok together in a kdrama romance... I'm screaming…
It's not a sageuk, it's an alternative reality in which South Korea is monarchy
Like it was in The Last Empress or Princess Hours

They may promote, plus it's their culture. Some people can drink in the morning and don't get frowned upon
It's not about consuming meat but about consuming greasy and spicy food. People in my country are big on meat but stomach cancer isn't as common as in SK.
So, whenever I see spicy food in dramas I see problems with gastrointestinal tract as well.

When the story demands they also promote good habits ..but for some reasons people are more gravitated towards…
People always pick bad habits faster, it's easier
Not many people have enough will to wait and cultivate good habits to see results later or enjoy hard work and improvement, unfortunately...

Characters in dramas often eat spicy food when feel stressed, for example, FL from What's Wrong With Secretary Kim stopped eating spicy food because she ate too much back in the days when she felt stressed. And I can confirm that it kinda helpse too

Talking about level of spiciness, there was some tteokbokki place app, in which you could "you will die" level of spiciness...

Plus, they eat spicy food to relief stress, so you can imagine the taste, ah

Well, most spicy food consists chilly, the most popular side dish is kimchi with a lot of red hot pepper. Also, pepper paste is common ingredient.

I don't say all food is bad, but Korean BBQ, fried chicken are really popular and unhealthy.

Yes, the country of contrasts indeed.

But as for their food, while they do eat much healthy food, I cannot say their diet is actually balanced, considering stomach, colorectal cancers are among five most common types of canser diagnosed in SK. On the one hand, it may have something to do with an alcohol, but then again they eat much oily and spicy dishes too.

Yeah, agree. And even if it doesn't have a lot if alcohol, it's still considered alcoholism which is about regularity and dependce rather than amount of consumed alcohol

Plus, I've heard that somaek (beer+soju) works just like in dramas, you can drink without getting drunk fast and then at one moment pass out. So it's really tricky and not safe. And as a woman I cannot see all female characters getting unconscious in public after drinks...

You know, I'm Russian and I think Koreans drink too much. In my country alcoholism is condemned but in SK dramas it looks praised: "oh, you drink well" as a compliment of stamina rather than a reason to get worried. I'm glad than in recent dramas they start to call out the issue, mostly in crime/law dramas tho. Like, the reason to get divorced or to not grant custody.
