I feel about 2 episodes or so back he was going to give up on trying to further his feelings for MXL so basically entrusting XXC to cherish her because he himself also cherishes her a lot. But moment after moment it hurts to see MXL in pain, although XXC has his own method of protecting her, but feel NXY doesn't see it XXC way of things so finally reaching to the current episodes I believe he may start to shift
