If it were me I would let the world burn hahaha. But in perspective I understand why the ML would choose the lather because he is the lord and his responsibility is to the world to be safe. He was raised with a large responsibility whereas NXY was praised for having three senses as he was some god. When he lost them all then in turn everyone pitied him while the FL saw beyond that all he felt was loneliness so the world versus her, so of course he would choose the FL.

This is why I prefer the villain that will burn the world for you versus the hero that will let you burn to save the world lol

Because she did remark she wasn't going to cry if he ever died, but doubt she realize it would actually occur. At least the pearl tear was something of Xiao Yao that he was able to take with him becoming part of him as he slowly passed.

The pearl was from XY's tear in S1 when she woke up after XL took 37 years to heal her back to life and finding him gone. In a way she did shed a tear when he died 😭
