You know, I read the manga and maybe there's something wrong with me, but I didn't love it. I haven't seen the Jdrama yet, but again, that's because I didn't really love the manga enough to search it out. So I'm not in the camp that's worried about how it will do as a remake or how it will portray the manga, although I do think recasting Eun Kyung instead of Yoona was a good choice. I'm just hoping this drama will present this story in a way that will make me want to go back and re-read the manga in a new frame of mind, if that makes sense. Either way, Joo Won is in it, and I will watch anything with him. (I even watched Level 7, which proves I'm a die hard fan. :P)

gah, ten minutes in and I already feel like the drama is lying to me. Haha Anyone else have these problems after watching Dong Yi first?? From what I read about the actual people in history, this drama is doing exactly what the synopsis said, telling a different story with a LARGE creative license. XD

I want to start this drama, and have tried so many times, but I always feel disloyal to Dong Yi whenever I get close to starting Jang Ok Jung. XD I just can't seem to help it.

It does seem more interesting after the teasers and the photoshoot than just the synopsis made it sound. Also, I will be watching this mainly because of my massive love for Kang Ha Neul. I need more of him in my life. :P Thanks for the article, it was well done! :D

Person Bae Soo Bin
For you guys that say he's always the bad guy, watch Dong Yi. Cheon Soo is by far one of my favorite characters ever. It's also his second role with Han Hyo Joo, the first being Shinning Inheritance, where he also plays a good guy.

However, I agree with what Kachiing said about his villain roles being amazing because they're so complex and ever evolving. It's hard to act that way with believability, but he does it so amazingly!

I'm looking forward to The Greatest Wedding, just to see what kind of role he has next. In the preview, he kind of looks like a jerk, so we'll see. :D

I don't think it's fair to say her acting is bad based off the same roles she's had to play over and over. If you watch some of her movies, her acting IS better and it's not like she's a horrible actress to begin with, just stiff and out of place when she's trying to be a teenager. When she acts in a more mature role, her acting is a LOT better. I'm looking forward to seeing her character and hoping she breaks out of the usual role.
So I'm not unhappy with the casting, and I'll wait and see what this drama has to offer.

I'm actually pretty excited for this. I just sincerely hope Park Shun Hye's role is more grown up. I've liked her in a few movies where she's been grown up. her acting isn't as stiff or forced, just natural. I'd really like to see that here. I think we can expect better things of this drama merely because it's not set in highschool. Thank god!

Rosefae72 Thank you for picking All About My Romance! I fell head over heels in love with that drama and the characters. A year later and certain scenes pop into my head randomly and either make me chuckle or giggle. XD Anyways, I'm still surprised it's not more popular than it is. I found it the same way you did, just stumbled across it and figured why not? haha

If you haven't seen All About My Romance and like romantic comedies, give it a shot!

Personally, I like literal translation better, because I feel like I grow to understand each character and their situation better. If I'm watching an important dialogue heavy scene with modified subs and they cut out too many words, I feel like I've been robbed because I know there's a deeper meaning to what was said then what I read.

That's why I prefer Viki's subs over Dramafever's. There have even been a few times I've been watching a drama on DF and had to stop and switch over to Viki because I know I missed something, and it always turns out to be an important qualifying word that explains the character better or sets a completely different tone. Either way, I think you're right about beginners needing modified translation, and once you're accustomed to the culture, literal is better.

I loved this! Very well written and an interesting topic/question. I've noticed this very thing, even if my only language is English. Once you spend a large enough time watching dramas, you start to pick up the language a little, at least the rough meaning of certain words put together. When that happens and you're watching a drama with modified subs, you notice there are words missing in the subs that would have fit the scene better if they were there. Like "Come to your senses" Vs. "Wake up". I think on certain dramas where you want to know exactly what is being said to understand fully what each character means, literal translation is better.

However, I think literal translation is best for those drama watchers that has developed more understanding of the culture (whether it's Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc.) and can understand if an odd feeling phrase turns up.

Heh, I totally shipped those two couple together too! Especially Rara and Katsuyama. Sigh. They just needed each other. The last scene with them was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Where she tells him her name and he smiles. God. </3

You saw the ending right?? God...the feels of BM. I just...I know it really couldn't have gone another way...but...ok...I won't say more until I'm sure you've seen it all and I know what you think. <3 <3 <3

I also wanted it to go on forever too. I just...I didn't want it to end. Even if my soul ACHED at the end and for RouXi, I knew there was no other way for her and the 4th prince. That scene with the 14th Prince...just...god I'm tearing up just thinking about all of them. How they all loved her, but in different ways. How they all changed and grew into different people. How she changed and matured and eventually had to make a choice between what was right and love. There are so many harsh lessons throughout it. God, and what became of 13th Prince just broke me, and how it showed that even when he came back, their relationships were forever changed. Just...*dies* Sorry. I think I'm starting that again today. How do you feel now that it's over? Still in a semi numb/ over emotional feel?

I'm so glad you loved it duf! I really am. :D <3

I swear I cried for a week after finishing Bu Bu. RouXi just became a living being inside of me. It's like...every once in a while a drama/story effects you so deeply that a part of you lives inside of that drama/story. You feel all those emotions so profoundly it's almost like they happened directly to you, and what you feel and experience changes you little by little. Even as you go about your real life as yourself, a part of you is forever changing and still experiencing what rouxi is, even if it's just by proxy. I can't believe you experienced that same feeling with Bu Bu that I did. I though I was crazy for a while there, because it's just...a part of me now. I'm so glad that you got to experience the same thing though. It's amazing. That's why Bu Bu is the best written and executed drama I've seen to date. I still can't quite explain exactly what my feelings are for it. It leaves you raw and complete at the same time. Like you've learned more about yourself and the world, but at the same time what you thought you knew isn't always right? God...it just leaves you a philosophical mess, but in a good way. Peace and chaos at once.

Now Shunji...My feelings for him have always been so complicated. I loved him for who he was with MokDan and Kang To in the beginning. Not as much as I love Kang To, but I did love him. He was a good man that went against what his family wanted and became a teacher for the Korean kids because that's what he wanted. He just cared about people, regardless of what nationality. Then he finds out his family is corrupt, but that he actually might be the reason they get ruined. He find the woman he's loved since a kid, but she's waiting for someone else and won't be with him because of who his family is, his nationality, and because of Kang To. Then he sees his brother brutally murdered in front of his eyes by BM (even if he completely deserved it). Also, since the police suck, the only connection they know to all the rebels is Mok Dan, so he joins the police force to protect her. Then everything falls apart and he becomes obsessed because BM just keeps getting away, and he thinks the woman he loves know where he is and won't even tell him anything. I can understand Shunji...but he just keeps stepping into the darkness, one foot after another. Each choice he makes...it's making him that monster he feared. ASTOUNDING acting on his part, because you can see him changing every step of the way. It's terrifying, hateful, and utterly tragic to watch it. This all became a babble..I'm sorry. Haha. But I've always felt this...misery with Shunji...because he did it to himself. I feel this crushing sorrow for him and what he became, what he'll have to live with, the sins that tarnished what was once a pure soul. It just...Gah. I can't say more without spoiling, but Shunji...I despise him and has sorrowful regretful love for him.
