The audience has yet to fully meet Jang Uk's mother. We've only seen a glimpse of her thus far. I'm looking forward to seeing her more during a flashback and what actually transpired when Jang Kang and the King switched souls.
Jang Kang is going to have a lot of serious explaining to do if and when he decides to show his face. Why did…
Park Jin already told Jang Uk that Jang Kang isn't his father (since they - and ultimately the audience - don't know the whole truth). I think Jang Uk will more or less hold some resentment towards Jang Kang for abandoning him and blocking his energy. Justified since Jang Uk shouldn't have suffered for his father's actions.
So Jang Kang's (Jang Uk's father) return was hinted in today's episode. It'll be interesting to see Jang Uk's reaction when he see his father (I'm still convinced that Jang Uk is very much Jang Kang's son and that the King just lied to play Jang Kang).
I'm glad Jang Uk isn't beating around the bush about his feelings for Mu Deok and I'm really glad that he understood her feelings without her saying much.
I know that Seo Yul and Park Dang Gu didn't have much say in this but it still was very disappointing that they…
Yeah, we've seen them as just spectators when things like this happen. They never really said anything even when Jang Uk and Mu Deok were punished. Probably because they're very by the book. I think Jang Uk is really the only one that questions things and isn't afraid to challenge the order of things if he doesn't agree with it.
Yes, I know they're both from the Jin clan. But I feel like there's another connection there. It looks like it's connected to the kind of power they have. It's been discussed that these blind mages have the ability to sense energies unlike other mages - which is why Mu Deok was able to find the Ice stone and not anyone else. It's not just a physical thing, especially since even Naksu was initially baffled as to why she gained eyesight even though Mu Deok was blind.
I just realized that the show begins with a blind mage performing magic and creating the ice stone in the process. Mu Deok that had/found the Ice stone was also blind and can sense energies. I wonder if they're going to discuss this connection.
And let's be honest, the love story btn Jang Uk and Mu Deok (or naksu) is not well developed. It's basically forced.…
I'll have to disagree with you on this one. It's definitely not forced. Both Jang Uk and Mu Deok are misfits and that was there initial bonding point. When Jang Uk is shunned, thrown out, and had nowhere to go, it's Mu Deok that stays with him. When Jang Uk decides to give up on training, she's the one that motivates him. Despite her trying to hide her feelings - we get to see that she in actuality likes Jang Uk and wants to see him succeed. And it's not just because he can help her unlock her energy, It's because she really believes in him.
Second, they've never judged each other. Mu Deok has never looked down at Jang Uk even after learning about his past. Jang Uk knowing that Mu Deok is actually Naksu hasn't judged her or her past. He readily defended her in today's episode too. Stating that just because someone does sorcery, they're not evil or in the wrong. What matters is the intention.
Jang Uk, unlike many of the other characters we've seen is very innocent (very stubborn and clumsy too but that's what makes you love him). Even the fact that he wants to learn and train so he can take Mu Deok on top of that tree not and to prove everyone wrong and become a great mage rings true to that fact. Mu Deok has put her self in danger countless times for Jang Uk and Jang Uk has always been there to protect her - even when he had no control of his powers.
The two have a lot of faith in each other and most definitely have feelings for each other - that they have yet to realize. We're half way through the first season and the two have yet to have a true romantic moment together. All of their moments have thus far been very innocent. It was either that of a Young Master and his maid or a Master and her pupil. So their love story, if anything, is still developing and will have some serious hurdles along the way. I think we're finally going to get to see their relationship shift from Master/Maid (and Master/Pupil) to lovers.
They've been there for each other when others have failed. They've believed in other when others have failed. They've never abandoned each other when others have. They're not forced together, they want to be together. Because they care for each other and love each other. Jang Uk calling for Mu Deok even when he's drunk and half unconscious and Mu Deok waiting for him out in the rain show just how close they've become. The next episode will surely prove that again. Mu Deok entering the contest just so she can be by Jang Uk's side. Jang Uk breaking all the rules - in his usual style - to be with Mu Deok and help her. Their relationship and love story has progressed beautifully in my opinion.
I believe the real Mu Deok has the ice stone inside her (The relics in Jinyowon confirmed this when MD breaks out of the mirror. Calling her the Blind girl and the Ice stone). Which is why her soul and Naksu's soul are both inside one body.
My best guess is that the ice stone is attracted to the strongest/most powerful mage, which is why when Naksu tried to soul shift, her soul ended up in MD's body instead of the intended target.
Naturally, Naksu will have to give up MD's body since MD's soul is still there. Since they're both special mages, I believe it will be easy for Naksu to get her body back (thanks to the ice stone and sorcery). This is why it makes sense to see Naksu in her original body in Season 2 of AoS.
