I would say FL. It was more of a 51-49 situation for me between FL & ML.
If I remember correctly (it's been a couple of months since I watched this drama) there is a point in an early episode where she outright acknowledged to him that she wouldn't be able to beat him in a fight. I could be wrong...π€
Wow! This series (and some people's reactions to it)...I have to say, I am dumbfounded. Never in my life have I ever watched something where almost every single character is more despicable than the next. It sort of reminds me of And Then There Were None, where everyone is just plain horrible. And I suppose that with a drama in which everyone is just plain awful, it makes sense that some of the people watching it and commenting on it are just plain awful as well. It makes sense...π€
I am on episode 45 and have just watched Chacha-er writing and then destroying her note to her family and I can only say that I absolutely hate her. I know that the propaganda for these series is that everyone should be willing to give up their families and everything and everyone they love for the Communist cause, but I am not a Communist. So I can only think in terms of the family and how devastated they must be while she selfishly eats her bun with a big smile not giving a shit about any of them. I can only hope that she dies. I seriously mean that. What a selfish little bitch! Communism is truly a tool of the devil himself.
This is the greatest review of anything that I have ever read in my life! I almost want to watch this drama just to be able to appreciate the review better...π
The drama was good overall, I was taken by surprise when I discovered it was a harem, I have nothing against it,…
I just finished watching this series this morning and I have to say that I agree with everything you've said here. Perhaps it's because I am a man that I am not offended by the harem (they've existed throughout history and still exist in some countries today. Just a fact of life). I am particularly in agreement with you regarding your misgivings with regard to the character of Li Huan. The Yan family hinted at some involvement in her father's death, as well as the death of a provincial governor, but then it went nowhere. I was intrigued at first. Them felt rather let down. There didn't seem to be any real direction for her character, and, after bidding farewell to the scholar fellow, her story just sort of drifted away into nothingness. Rather disappointing, I felt. Also, the rather too neat wrap up of the Yan family's ultimate fate was disappointing as well. It felt rushed and for me fell flat.
All in all, I found it to be a fairly amusing drama with some very amusing aspects (the rivalry between the two fathers was hilarious...), but definitely nothing to be taken seriously at all. Just some light amusement between better dramas, I'd say.
Damn...your review is so good.. I cant sit down and watch illogical plots... especially crime series. I hate dramas…
Oh yes! The guards are supposed to be escorting him off to prison but they figured, why not take a short break and allow the psycho killer a few moments to share his thoughts with the judge and jury? πππ I really had to suspend my understanding of all logic and common sense to get through the entire court scene. It was all just one big sloppy mess!
I don't blame you for not being able to get past this episode. But I can only say that this episode was the absolute worst the series had to offer. Things do get (slowly) progressively better. I won't claim that there is no more silliness...there is a boatload of it! But I still did find it entertaining in the end. Maybe one day if you're bored enough (or drunk enough...π), and you don't have anything else to do, you might give it another try...from episode 3. π

Whilst I stand by my initial judgement with regard to the earlier episodes, I have to say that it gets progressively better as the series continues. I've just finished episode 11 and only suddenly realised that I think I forgot to breathe for about ten minutes! π This series is definitely more than a must watch, I think it borders on something pretty phenomenal. I didn't expect this at all when I wrote my earlier comment. I am extremely pleasantly surprised. I recommend you give it a try after all...just overlook the silliness and outright stupidity of the first couple of episodes, and then enjoy the ride!
I have to write this or else I am going to go out of my mind. I have only just finished watching episode 2 and, honestly, the Mack Truck-sized plotholes are giving me agita!
A judge discovers that an escaped murderer has the addresses of several of the jurors whom he had just threatened to kill only a few hours ago. Does he call his brother the police officer in charge of capturing him, so that he'll know where to look for him? Of course not. Does he arrange for protection for the jurors? Not a chance. So what does he do? He texts the jurors telling them to take care of themselves. Does he at least warn them that the killer might have their addresses? Why ever would he do that? That would only make sense.
A cop shoots but does not kill a dangerous escaped killer. Does he immediately secure the criminal before tending to the completely unharmed victim? Absolutely not! In fact, he turns his back on the very much still alive and dangerous criminal to tend to the perfectly fine and also very much alive hostage victim, thereby getting himself a proper stab in the back from aforementioned criminal.
Cops are pointing their guns at a dangerous criminal who is threatening to pour gasoline all over and set the place on fire. Do they shoot him in order to prevent this? Not a chance! Instead they go running and screaming like girls (waving the aforementioned guns in the air on the way down the steps!) It's the Keystone Cops: Korean style!
This frigging show is killing me. If episode 3 is this bad, I'm done with this series.
Excellent review...thank you for this. A note regarding your comment on Su Yu's assertion regarding parents loving their children. This assertion, whilst sounding naΓ―ve to some, was made sincerely. It comes from the fact that, in Su Yu's father's world, things are pretty simple. He's a simple man with simple values. Love your family, do everything you can to be there for them and support them. Simple as that...no drama, no complications. He even maintained this perspective when his wife abandoned her family. This is the way things should be in his mind, and, probably to him, it's the way things are. I don't think it would ever occur to him that a parent wouldn't love their child. He believed that Su Yu's mother left them because of him, but that she still loved Su Yu. So whilst I understand how one could take umbrage at the blanket statement that 'all parents love their children', I think if one examines the context of the assertion and the person who made it, it's easy to come to the conclusion that it was said sincerely and with the best of intentions. That's my opinion anyway. (This is my first time contributing anything here...I hope I haven't made a fool of myself! π)
You are definitely not...I hated it for so many reasons...as someone else wrote, I feel sorry for anyone who believes that type of BL drama is or even should be the norm, because, thank goodness, it is not!
Loveable slacker! I'm just starting episode 6 right now and, after watching how he handled his in-laws in episode 5, I'd say that is the perfect description of him. I don't know about his wife, but I'm in love with him right now! πππ
I only started reading this review because you rated the series a 10 and gave no indication that you would be throwing in a million spoilers. Imagine my unwelcome surprise when you went ahead and threw in spoilers with no warning anyway. Thanks for that. Greatly appreciated. Saves me from having to watch it, now that you've already told me the story. I'll move on to something else and avoid ever reading any more of your reviews from now on.
I have only just finished watching episode 4 and I am completely surprised at the fact that no one has hauled off and cold cocked Xin Qi in the mouth yet...I'm serious! πππ
I've only just finished watching episode 6 and I can honestly say that I now see what everyone else was talking about. The acting and the raw emotions in this series are just phenomenal. I don't usually get very emotionally involved with Thai dramas, as for some reason I just haven't watched any where the acting felt genuine (except for Bad Buddy, of course!) But that hospital scene had me bawling like a baby! I will now proceed with episode 7...
