It was mentioned in the novel around the final battle when LSS awakened fully that she kept the bones when she exchanged them instead of destroying them then and there, cuz she knew if she destroys them there would be no TTJ, he will die. So the bones are not in him, but hidden by her.

He will die if they are removed, yes. If it was SJ, she would not as she is a demon, her body is a demon, she'd survive. Whereas TTJ as a mortal will 100% die if they are removed.

Well, for people that have read the novel, we know that the one who saved him from dying in the process was LSS herself, not YBC or the heart protecting scale.

LSS kept his devil bones after the exchange instead of completely destroying them, as that would mean he will die completely. The reason he is alive after that exchange when he was supposed to die is that decision LSS did. Keep the bones and he shall live, he had a miserable life and she knows it.

Also, she is not sure as per MYs words, he shall take the tribulation for SJ and give her the essence. He that was a god was not sure he can survive the tribulation, let alone a mortal like YXW is .
