ML did not compare the death of her family to their marriage. Actually he didn’t compare anything. What she wanted most was revenge. What he wanted most was a life together with FL based on mutual love and respect. Neither of them got (at that moment) what each of them wanted most because the other prevented it (in that moment). He held her back from doing something immensely stupid, from which she would have just gotten a brief moment of satisfaction anyway. She then told him that she only had been using him all along. In that very moment both brought the other’s world crashing down. That’s what ML meant when he said they were even. What’s more, were the genders reversed everyone would cry out that FL should stay far away from such a toxic red flag ML etc!

Absolutely agree! And I cannot understand why some people say Pei Yi deserves a better ML etc. Huai Jin is smart, courageous, loyal, sweet and keeps being smart in a moment when she is absolutely blinded by rage.
i had this drama on my plan to watch list for quite a long time but idk if i should watch it..
Some cases are better than others, but overall it’s definitely worth watching. For the dynamics between FL and ML, but also the side characters are all great!

He‘s my favourite actor for mature roles. He was also wonderful in Lost you forever. And he can be such a believable villain too. Looking forward to seeing him in Love Story in the 1970s!
