The only little gripe I have with his acting here is that sometimes he gave the FL a kind of smile that didn’t quite fit. But I think it’s the director‘s job to tell him what to do instead or for which effect to go.

As I said he received much praise for his line delivery and he said in an interview he’s very happy but of course there‘s always room for improvement and he only wants to take on projects where he can dub himself. Also even for the support roles the voice actors are listed with names and there is no voice actor listed for Sima Jiao. Also you can clearly hear that it’s his own voice. Of course it must sound different than it sounds in an interview or a modern drama. If you watched Lost you forever for example Tan Jian Ci‘s voice is even deeper there than in real life.

He always dubs himself and he received a lot of praise for his line delivery and voice acting - rightfully so.
