There are very sad moments in the present day part but the tone overall is definitely not bleak. There are also lighthearted/fun moments. In particular their new work colleagues bring many funny scenes.

@Caty_Rina Absolutely agreed! I think WDBTD is so popular because it manages to portray a bond between two people that’s on another level. Even in the beginning of the drama when they put their foreheads together to ease the burn of the fire (without kisses or soul bonding) the connection between them felt very intense and unique. And the kissing scenes were all choreographed in a beautiful and poetic manner to convey this emotional intensity.
