I love this season more than I loved s1. I love the main couple chemistry here than in s1. I like the fact that there's just enough conflict, I love the two couple and I love the fact that there's not much romance in it because I have always prefer watching more of the medical scenes and the heartfelt scenes with the patients. I also love the fact that Dr. Park is not as evil as Do Yoo Wan. I'm so sick of those too villainous villain characters from so many dramas I've watched for over a decade now honestly. I like that it's kind of different in here. I also like the idea where Dr. Park will be the one to operate Kim Sabu and I LOVE KIM SABU now than I loved him in s1. There's no boring scenes from ep1 up to ep10. Every episode leaves me in awe, makes me laugh and makes me shed tears. Damn. I just love this s2 so much.
I like the plot but I despised the unfolding of the story. I am deeply disappointed of this story. This story has no respect to God at all. One angel abandoned God to love a human how dare he love another when he abandoned the very Love himself which is God? And what? Yeon Seo saying "let's see who wins?" wow I was never this furious to the leads. Defying God alone is already a huge mistake and she even challenged him? Kim Dan was not able to pull off his mission he was not able to teach Yeon Soo how to truly love and she never even learn how to actually forgive. No one can truly love if one can't love the Love himself and that's God. And what? They blame God that Yeon Seo became an orphan and lost Mr. Jo as if it was God who killed them when it all happened because of her relatives doings. They disobey God and expect to have a peaceful happy life? Angels here were portrayed to be so weak. God created angels to guide and protect and love humans but above all to fulfill God's will and this story really fail to portray that. This is nothing but disappointing.
That’s a poor defense. Extraordinary You does not get a pass because it’s a comic world with comic characters.…
Yo I said I see it in both ways and you don't and I said it was fine. I merely presented my reason to why my disappointment was pacified and you called me disrespectful and pretending to be cordial. But ok. Whatevet fits your judgement.
Agree. He didn't even have a NAME to begin with, that's how insignificant he was. So why would we expect a backstory?…
"They could have given him backstory" but it sounds like "I wanted them to give haru a backstory." It was you who needed it not the actual story. You just wanted a backstory but the character of haru doesn't ask for it. It was what you actually wanted but it was not actually needed because Haru was created with no backstory that's how he was written from the get go. That was the actual essence of his character. Haru can change the stage 'only' where he is not part of it but he can't do anything whrn he's part of the stage. When he was still a nameless character the writer holds no control over him during certain stages in earlier episodes. And to why he's special? He uses his brain. He's analyzing the stage. Just like what he did when Danoh was supposed to lose consciousness and be save by Kyung. The main key of that stage is Danoh's watch which he put on Saemi's wrist instead of Danoh that's why on that stage it was Saemi who lose consciousness rather than Danoh. Haru only tweak the stage but the set up still happened in the shadow. Just like what Kyung did in ep30, he gave his coat to Haru so he could replaced him in his stage with Danoh. So Haru is in fact not the sole one who can change the stage. It's just a matter of changing the key point of the stage. He is a self-aware nameless extra who uses his brain and analyzed the stage. He didn't just change the stage just because he wants to he thought about it. And that is what you're overlooking.
That’s a poor defense. Extraordinary You does not get a pass because it’s a comic world with comic characters.…
No I don't. I just simply understand the writer's perspective because I am a writer myself and I also understand the viewers perspective that's why my disappointment was pacified. I see both ways and you only look at it in one way but that's fine. Extraordinary You has a cruel reality and unanswered questions but that's what real life is, as well. Anyway I rest my case here because we clearly have different views. Have a good day.
He’s not an extra in every comic world. Why are you defending the writers bad writing? They don’t explain…
I believe there is only two comic world that was introduced in EY. Haru might not be an extra in TC but he was still created with no backstory even in that story hence his line in TC comes "I will find an answer myself." He will find an answer himself to his beginning. And Kyung even said he was only created to stay beside him. That was his fate as per Kyung. So it's kinda safe to say he was created by the writer with no backstory. Actually, Haru's character is very special. He has nothing, no backstory yet he can give so much for Danoh. The writer didn't explain why he's self-aware and to why he can change the story because it is unexplainable. We're going to need more backstory for that but the drama writer has no will to do that from tbe start. Even the reason behind why Kyung's brother is self-aware wasn't explained. Because it's a drama and a fantasy genre not everything can be explained. It is fine if you're disappointed. I'm fine with the negative comments. Because I have mine too, for this story. But I think it's as well fine to share my thoughts on how I am not as disappointed as the other, right? If I offended you or something I apologized. But I wrote this thoughts in a writer's POV. And as someone who also writes it would have been better if they were an actual human trapped inside the comic world so they can be free from their set up.

It's not a defense I only looked at it on how the drama writer wrote it. Yes. It's pitiful but that is the reality of their story. If we will compare it to the usual dramas it is really disappointing. It lacks so much and I myself have my own disappointment with the story. I also wanted to see more from the other characters and actually really wanted for the writer to make them an actual humans who were only trapped inside the comic world. But that's not how the drama writer wants to depict it. The writer plainly made them an alive character inside the comic world. The writer could have done better and use the fantasy genre in a more bigger picture. But others only looked at it in the similar way as the other dramas. I'm fine with the negative comments it's natural but sometimes it all depends on one's expectation and actually not see the other perspective. And as a writer, I grasp the idea of why it was done that way.
EY is nothing perfect. Not even close. As I said in my previous rant it holds several plotholes and unanswered questions. But I understand it simply because it is a drama inside the manhwa with another manhwa backstory. It ain't your typical kdrama where it tries to depict reality. It's a manhwa drama that tells the story of the self-aware comic characters, their struggle to live according to their writer's nasty and cliché writing skill and story ideas and how they try to have their own story with another comic character. Y'all that very concept is really genius. I should write something similar as that. Lol. Anyway. That's my rant for now. I'm still in denial stage that EY has already meet its end. TT
Regarding Haru. We don't know anything about him. Well breaking news! Haru is an extra and a nameless one who literally has nothing except self-awareness. He is practically nothing. So if he's just a mere nameless extra who is barely needed dude why would the comic writer need to give him any background story when he is nothing special in any particular way? However, magically, he gained self-awareness. He was created by the writer with nothing that's why for Haru Danoh is his everything, Danoh is his beginning and his end. Because through Danoh, Haru started to gain something: self-importance, friendship and love. And yet some are actually seeking depth with his character? I have to laugh. We will really never know anything more about him because the comic writer created him that way. He ain't human. He's just an alive comic character inside the magical comic world just like the rest of the characters. Their backstory will only be possible and will depend if the writer decided to draw it.
I just want to say this. Everything started with Danoh's desperation to change her fate and breakaway from the writer's control over her life. Who would not? She's literally a puppet who was set up to have terminal illness and who is supposed to be head over heels with her emotional abusive fiancé. As the story unfolds and come to an end, Danoh was able to change her dying character with the help of Haru, DoHwa and even Kyung in the end. But she was not able to breakaway from the writer's control. Disappointing ain't it? It was part of the plot yet it went nowhere. Why? Because she's not human. She and the rest of them doesn't live in the "real" world. They live inside the world "created" by the writer which undoubtedly a human. Danoh and everyone inside the comics are merely characters who happens to gained life and self awareness inside the comic world. So there is no escape for them from the writer's control especially in the stage. So, no, for me, it ain't disappointing. That was their reality being only a comic character who can always get recycled in different comic book. If you will look at it in the typical drama's perspective yes that was a huge disappointment but "Extraordinary You" is a drama "inside" the manhwa. Danoh and the rest can only get away from the writer's control IF they are actual humans who happens to be trapped inside the manhwa. But no. It was clear they are all just a character inside the comic world who are magically alive.
Yo. I know this drama ain't flawless in any way. Is there any sort of story though? You can find several plotholes (everything has plotholes even in real life duh lol). It will leave you somehow with unanswered questions but regardless of all that, this drama holds a very special place in my heart. It had me interacting in the comment box which I only did twice in my whole over a decade life watching kdramas lmao. And this story introduces me with my man Kim Seok Woo aka Rowoon aka Haru. I just fell in love with this man! Yooooo! His kind and gentle but manly and sexy but also adorable presence just captured my whole existence (LJW is love but he didn't stand a chance lmao Rowoon is beyond love!) lol looking forward now with his activities with his group sf9 and hopefully I'll see him in another lead role drama with good storyline the soonest.
I enjoy interacting with some of the commenters here. Have a good and blessed haru (day) to all! (●´з`)♡
People understand the comic setup. They’re saying it’s repetitive due to the love triangles, the fights, the…
I think it's still because of their own expectation hence they felt it went downhill. They expected to see non cliché or redundant scenes however that is what was still given to them. Moreover, alot has been rooting for kyung and what was thrown at them is the opposite of what they wanted for him and danoh. Another thing, it's getting compared alot from the manhwa version. So nonetheless, expectations were not meet. Initially, it kind of felt that way for me, too, as I followed the story weekly but after fully rewatching ep1-14 that feeling gradually decreases. Somehow, I grasped why the story went that way although there could have been another path it could have taken like giving more scenes and story to Namju, Juda and Do Hwa. Nevertheless, opinions will still go down to each individual's expectation and favor for one character. But as a writer myself, viewing the story in a writer's point of view, it is still beautifully written. It still held it's reputation as a fresh and unique good drama until the end, for me.
During my rest days I binge watched EY from ep1 to ep14 and I realized the scenes I thought were repetitive were not actually that repetitive. It seems repetitive but it was because the writer really meant for the old manhwa to repeat in the present manhwa. So what do we expect? Of course scene will repeat itself because it's the path it wants to take from the start. It didn't actually went downhill the path it took is just right. We can't say it went downhill just because it didn't meet our expectation. At least for me. Anyway, the latest episode left me brokenhearted but also it was warmhearted, too. Although I despised kyung's behavior in the past 14 episodes I'm still so glad he got his deserved redemption and his happy, peaceful and genuine affectionate moment with Dan Oh although it was all part of their stage. It's just sad that he had to actually witnessed himself first kill danoh in TC before he finally realized how nasty he has been acting to everyone. I've already expected his sympathizers to actually make him the great guy with his sacrifice and the actual hero in the story and say, "told you he is not a jerk and selfish" but he was though. He was a jerk and selfish yet thankfully he redeemed himself. His sacrifice is touching and I appreciate it a lot but it was just rightful since Danoh doesn't feel the same way as he does towards her. So I'm sorry to burst your bubbles but if not of Haru getting in between them and changed the stage Kyung would have not be self-aware and realized his feelings towards Danoh and he would have not done what he did. Danoh's fate changed because she started it and Haru was the only one who lend him a hand along with Do Hwa. Kyung did his part but the big credits still goes to Danoh and Haru and their pure love for each other.
And I'm not yet ready for its ending! TT I am going to surely miss my best trio DanHaruDoHwa and of course our lovely couple DanHaru and most of all my baby Haru!!! TT
Whew! What a tough and heart-wrenching high school romance is this, eh? It started off lighthearted and soooo gooood and it is still good though however, it could have progressed in a more better path if only the writer didn't focused so much on the love triangle scenes and actually made Kyung's character less spiteful. He's only tolerable because of LJW. Aye! The boy could have had a better development. Jeez. But oh well, even in real life we tend to go astray and make decision out of our character and regret in the end. I dislike Kyung a lot but I would still like him to make amendments with all his wrong choices. It'll sucks more if his character will just going to be sacrificed in order for my babies DanHaru to have a happy ending.
And, how could you do that to Haru?! My baby suffered enough in TC and you just have to make him go through another painful days! it's only two episodes left better make sure that the entire finale episode is all happiness for DanHaru!
Dear drama writer. As a writer myself, no matter how hopeless or sad the story have gone for the viewers we can still pull off a better ending for every character. Don't be too cruel with the kids! Lol. This drama is giving me all the feels I can't help not to get affected. Lol
