I think Yan An is doing very well, his role is not easy, he is basically just a wall which Tian xiwei plays her ball against not a character that gets to show much depth. Hope his character gets some development. Love the show though. Yes it's over the top and pure fluff but I'm here for it. And I love every time you think it's going in one direction something unexpected happened.

I think Netflix expect this to do very well as well because they made subtitles available in 20+ languages (meaning airing and being advertised in 20+ countries) this normally only happens with Kdrama. Even Pursuit of Jade was only available in some main languages like English and Spanish plus a number of Asian languages (try usually draw a lot of viewers in South East Asian countries like Thailand.

Maybe you would also like The Wanted Detective it's just one single case throughout but it's really good particularly ML (Wang Zingyue) and 2ML (Deng Kai). The FL didn't really do it for me but the cast was otherwise excellent.

Yeah I watched the third one first then got curious about the others and started watching the other two, the first one didn't really keep my attention for some reason but the second one was good too.

I would recommend Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty, there are three dramas, you don't have to watch them all or you can watch the latest first. I liked the last one the best. They have some of the same feel as Mysterious Lotus Casebook and Shadow Punisher but it is not considered an idol drama (none of the actors are idol actors)

Truly a hidden gem. A pity it hasn't received more love. The subtitles were as many mention a bit crazy in every second episode but good enough for you to follow the plot. As someone who don't speak Chinese at all they were still very helpful and I really enjoyed this drama. Great cast too.

This drama is surprisingly good for a mini drama. Nice surprise.

I think it depends what people define romance as. Some consider it hot intimate kisses - if so none, if lasting build up of affection, care and devotion - lots. But don't expect any sexy scenes of Liu Xueyi in the bathtub or skinship. The most graphic you get is raindrops on a rose. 😅

But it was interesting that a few of the moms were shown pushing the dads away, I think they tried to show different ways parent acted, Hua lady and another mother wouldn't let go of "their" child while others just wanted the money.

I was positively surprised by this mini drama, I have watched several mini dramas that lacked in every aspect from cinematography to acting and story but this is a really nice watch, I really like the FL and ML I haven't seen before. All in all I recommend.

I was instantly thinking of Ming Dynasty and the Yongle emperor's purges and executions of officials loyal to the former Jiawen emperor
