Because of Marcus's posted video that made me look into the matter, I now know of the details that include Cai Qi's offspring being involved; money laundering and guns/weapons running with Russia and using YML's name for dozens of shell companies and dumping $100B Yuan into his account causing YML to tell his mom the money wanted to make him vomit; the involvement of Xi & his brother likely being present at the scene; this suggesting that the conspiracy rumors about this murder being pre-planned all the way up to Xi due to YML's birthday; that this was done as a spiritual sacrifice to help Xi retain power -- seems upper elder elites within the CCP still believe in old school shamanism besides their desires for immortality that we got on hot mics. From that I learned that the CCP is already perfected baby organ transplants and have been creating babies for this purpose, etc.

This stuff I wouldn't have even known or cared about if I didn't watch Marcus' post, so if his purpose was to downplay everything for the CCP's sake, it didn't work. No one goes out and tells them shit about it... but the idea they think they can control SOUTH KOREAN dramas like they live under CCP control is a bit telling, now isn't it. Feels like the old days when China made Korea it's red-headed step child bitch, took its women and wealth and made the citizens their slaves. Regardless of how good or poorly you thought this drama was, it doesn't take away from the fantastic writing of the original novel author, Mo Bao Fei Bao. For me MBFB and Gu Man are the absolute best that China has to offer for young adult romance novels. Practically all their novels have been given Live Adaptations.

Mo Bao Fei Bao:
Go Go Squid, Appledog/DT story is based on same novel; One & Only/Forever Ever; Road Home; Love Me, Love My Voice, Amidst a Snowstorm of Love** **this was actually her 2nd novel. I'm not sure why it was give a Live Adaptation last but kinda glad because it's actually my favorite of all of them with GGS being my 2nd.

I will say that each of these writers have similar themes running through their stories and both have a tremendous amount of hyped Chinese nationalism. I'm not particularly a fan of all of that, but in the text of these stories, although I might find it cringe, I accept it as it does fit with the character of those the stories are written about..

I'm more a Gu Man fan though... with YAMG being my FAV. I'll say the reason is that since I graduated from college in 1991, my main occupation has been in aerospace, with my current job dealing in highly specialized aircraft used in the activities of various nations' military practices with our most recent "public" contract being with the IAF for AAR. I also got heavily invested, through my boys, in online gaming. Since I was already listening to Kpop & watching Kdramas around 2004 it was easy for me to get hooked on a game like League of Legends & I even took my kids and their friends to the 1st ever World Championship with Royal Club/SKT in 2013 at Staples Center, since no other kids' parents would take them, let alone approved of them playing at the time. They'd actually let me play with them every once in a while back then. So a novel then a drama combining online gaming, even if it was mobile, it Tencent's mobile based on LoL since Tencent owned RIOT by this time, plus anything aerospace was right up my alley. Having it be a pleasant romance with good looking actors made it top notch for me.

Anyway. I'm revisiting this series because I just cannot seem to get into anything that's been coming out new in the last 2 years. I'm going back for nostalgia. I find myself crying a bit watching these shows. I wish I could go back in time to 2013--2017-18... Those were some of my fav years of just non-stop binge watching dramas because everything was just so fresh and beautiful. Now, everything just seems so veiled through the lens of cancel culture, and netizens demands and the cost expectation of everything having to resemble a perfect world that no one can criticism or have differing views. It's just so disheartening.

No. It's not all good and chill. What it is is something that should have been handled and RESOVLED at the time of the incident and at the point of the school transfer. If the victim and their family needed JUSTICE they should have sought it then and there.... not simply to destroy someone because they all of a sudden now as an adult are FAMOUS. That's a VENDETTA and REVENGE... that's not justice! A vendetta can also be a form of bullying when it is constant and repetitive harassment, intimidation, and humiliation against a targeted individual.. much like this victim seems to be doing by bringing this matter up over and over again.

But, my God, for a LOT of adults around here, it seems, you make 1 mistake and you are DONE for the rest of your lives. I'D HATE TO BE A KID OF ANYONE WHO GOES THIS FAR. They're probably the kind of wife/husband and mother/father that brings up past shit into every freaking argument... emotionally beating down on your family's psyche and destroying their own self worth, making them feel like shit every second for breathing if they slipped up and/or got angry just 1 time.

Based on these kinds of comments, there is no rehabilitation. There's no amount of growing up and learning from poor choices. If the schools did nothing satisfactory to reprimand and punish the kids in the eyes of the public, that's on THE CIVIL SERVICE and COMMUNITY, not on a teenage kid.

ADULTS HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OVERSIGHT, and the kids should NOT be forced into being punished OVER AND OVER again, ad infinitum, into adulthood. THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE SUICIDE. Bottom line. And so, yes, continue generating cancel culture, allowing forum posts to go viral so the public at large can pass JUDGEMENT not the judicial system and wreck havoc on people's lives 10. 20, 30 years later AFTER the incident... IT'S WONDERFUL, ISN'T IT!?!

And then you have the damn drinking culture for those who have to suffer everyday under the weight of living their lives PERFECTLY every SINGLE day from the moment they are born so they do not have to suffer under the scrutiny of others who point their finger, knowing full well, one day it will be THEM who gets hit with it too.... and why so many just off themselves for a DUI! Yep, in South Korea, FORGET THE JUSTICE SYSTEM, public opinion means if you make a mistake like THAT, you might as well die! It's capital punishment that the K-Netizens who go on verbal rampages over others actions, rather than demanding a proper LEGAL SYSTEM and mental health services. They'd rather someone drive their car to a secluded park somewhere with a grill and a briquette.


If they didn't rape, steal, or kill where they should be put in prison for an extended period of time, then what are we even talking about here??? Then you have to ask yourselves why mundane childhood BS that just about EVERYONE has experience get such HUGE attention, but legit rape & assault from adults does not...HELL, I was beat up and bullied my whole time in elementary school and part way through middle school. At what point do we tell the victim of school bullying, GET THERAPY and get over it??? Why should I care about this in the end? Someone makes a mistake in school, gets handed their punishment and transfers, and for KIDS, that should be the end of the story. Who cares if they apologized or not? The only thing anyone should care about is if the person is a REPEAT offender afterwards, and causes further harm to themselves or others. Besides, would anyone accept the apology anyway? NO! They won't be happy until the Korean Coast Guard is fishing her out of the Han River because that's the way these things play out, eh?

Her reputation is publicly smeared and she won't be able to find a proper job to take care of herself. Her life is over. Happy? No.... Wait until you're fake crying because she offed herself.... Isn't that the way it ALWAYS happens in Korea??? I'm so sick of this BS.

I enjoyed that the plot wasn't completely surrounded by them as a couple. There were varying elements to the story and the secondary couple wasn't just wasted space. A lot of focus on acceptance and mental health. Comparative relationships were shown to juxtapose 'healthy' vs 'toxic' situations. Romance was respectful.

Dialogue wasn't at all as cringe as you get used to when watching BL dramas. Acting was actually really good from all of them. Not much out of character stuff happening. Correct emotions and actions.

The bottoms in this drama really had the 'feminine' aspect to their new relationships. The tops were wealthy macho men with lots of time on their hands to play. Dudes were the supportive boyfriends not just willing to invest in their partner's ambitions & desires but to join in and be an active participant... at the same time, never trying to control or interfere with it. [ Shows when the first half is all about the snakes, then when the interest is caught by 2 others, they're no longer interested in snakes anymore.. hahaha]. Simply letting their significant other have the means to shine on their own. I mean.... If there was a drama that showed healthy hetero relationships like this, I'd be into watch... Reminds me of the energy that made me love "You Are My Glory" so much -- except in that one, it was the female with all the money, and the guy with ambitions needing support.

Lastly, the whole "Wú Suǒ Wèi" for the new name reminded me of The Untamed with Wei Wu Xian's sword "Suí Biàn". Same vibe. I laughed and smiled thinking about that.... Good Vibes!!

The arrest plot is actually pretty accurate to Chinese business shit. Pay attention. How many actors & businessmen have their businesses destroyed, segmented or careers canceled in the last 5-8 years over taxes? A great example of this is Jack Ma who publicly criticized China's financial sector at the end of 2020, only to have the govt issue a $2.8 billion fine against Alibaba for "anti-competitive practices" in 2021. Jack Ma was forced to step down as head, Alibaba was forced to split up... the CCP never wants any 1 individual or company to get to big for their boots, or out shine the CCP. The minute anything gets too lucrative or popular, they swoop in to stop it... In this drama, that someone tattled on a company that was seeing explosive success in a short period of time, and then it was destroyed in days by an arrest and investigation is more CCP than you obviously know.

This drama is still my comfort pick.

I am a Gu Man lover.

First, I already played lots of console games until my kids got me into online gaming...LoL & WoW especially. I even took them to the 1st League of Legends World Championship at Staples in 2013. Tencent owns Riot & rights to the game & made the mobile games. It was second nature to watch it.

Secondly, I have a long career in Aerospace. First working for All Nippon Airways, then Aerochem, and now I work for an Air to Air Refueling civilian company, Metrea. When I worked for Aerochem, we manufactured the dome for the external tanks of the space shuttles... so Yu Tu's career touches a spot for me...

The most important thing though is the NOVEL... This drama is the BEST for those who read Gu Man's novels FIRST. She didn't get to script the entirety of her other novels put into LIVE Action...BUT she did for this drama. This drama is EXACTLY like the novel AND that's what I so love about it. It has every aspect of Gu Man's writing to it.

It's like Gu Man is my spirit animal. She writes like she knows me and the things I enjoy inside and out!

Only in Communist China can state run companies do such corrupt acts that an already rich Chinese man makes millions on offer what should have already been available by numerous companies to the masses. Like where is the Communist quality control. Why be Communists when capitalism e.g. seeing a niche opportunity & filling it to make millions, wins the day. Sad testament to your economy.

Suengri was charged with prostitution mediation, embezzlement, habitual gambling, and violating foreign currency exchange laws. He was also accused of instigating violence and sharing illicit photos. What were the illicit photos regarding??? Well the others in his circle were charged with g@ng r@pe of women who weren't prostitutes but that were customer's of Seungri's business.

You support and promote him as if he somehow got in the crossfire and did nothing wrong. As if he had no clue what his business partners, who were jailed for sexual crimes, were doing in his place of business... that he didn't try to mislead the government about the type of business he was running in order to avoid taxes that everyday business folks pay and safety regulations that keep the customers that go into the business safe.

The sentence for a DUI is not revocation of your driver's license for a period of time. It is the end of your career and cancellation of you if you are a public figure, and death from societal ostracization. Such a pleasant nation that constantly focuses on drinking culture yet doesn't know how to properly handle the issues that come from promoting drinking as your social lubricant, social pecking order and/or mechanism to deal with stress. But you do you South Korea.

Hmmm... well that's not the plot, is it?
1) The point at the beginning is she was pregnant with the child of a man from a traditional Korean family that expects to carry on their bloodline, like royalty does. That's why John was on the outs. He was illegitimate. You need a child from the bloodline of the male of a married couple. Maybe it would be a different story if he wasn't from a "traditional family".

2) Tell me you don't understand "menopause". What does that mean actually? It means you have NO EGGS. She didn't pre-save her eggs now did she? So basically, this dude could get a surrogate to give him any kid he wanted. They have the money. But, again, it's a traditional family. That's not a child from the bloodline of the male of a MARRIED couple.

3) She wasn't in a relationship where she could think that far. I'm sure as she gets older, she'll probably give those things a thought. But that isn't part of THIS story. This story is about Hae Jo and coming to grips with the reality of death.

Because that's not the storyline and she doesn't simply want to have a kid to have a kid. With Eo Heung, he comes from a traditional family that expects to follow traditional bloodlines, as in son from married couple. That's why John was on the outs. He was illegitimate. She wasn't with Hae Jo when she found out but he broke up with her over wanting to have kids because he had childhood trauma that made him not want kids. He let her go, like so many other times, because he wanted her to have the life she wanted, which included getting married & having kids.. not staying with him and going without. She never was in a relationship where she COULD think about adopting. By the time she was back with Hae Jo she was more involved in the craziness surrounding him to think that far.
