Keeping my love for childhood trope aside I agree with you that it's getting tiresome and unrealistic seeing childhood friends being ultimate lovers in most of the kdramas.
After reading all the theories now In my head joong gil and goo Ryun are married and Joon woong is their reincarnated kid and I am waiting for a family reunion lol

Tbvh I didn't like the comedy part of this show . It went flat but as you said it gets better would like to give it one more try :)) may be romance works more than comedy here !!

I agree gu ryun tone is rude but that's her character . I don't think show is not well written . Yes we can say gu ryun ways are not right but she has been pointed out in the show by Joon woong. Her team was about to dissolve. She has come from hell and was member of Joon gil team earlier. We haven't got to see her back story yet so this seems part of the plot and she might change her approach later.

I got your point but if his past had een this traumatic then why he was such a positive person who believes in keep trying unless you win when he met woo joong. I think his father was a good example for him. There is a possibility of dark past as you said !! But it can be another way round. His father hardships could be a reason of him getting comfort from chicken.

That's confusing actually. One side I think nothing is changed by them as the past event of him celebrating his birthday, eating chicken and learning lesson " failure means you should try again" had already an deep impression on his heart. This happened in past and that's why he was a positive person earlier. All this was happened because of goo Ryun and woo joong. That was the reason jae soon wanted to eat chicken as chicken gave him strength to fight hard like his father.
There were number of times I felt like giving a hug to Kong!!
