We have to interpret everything he said and did through the filter of him as a Korean. If it is disrespectful in Korean society to refer to a deceased person by their name then he would have been disrespectful to her is he said her name. It may seem strange or disrespectful to people outside of Korea (or other Asian countries I think), but he is Korean and we have to view him through that lens.

Glad to see someone with critical thinking skills around these parts! I noticed this from the very beginning. It's an internet witch hunt and everyone wants to take part. The very person people are now defending was the same person who was not even allowed to work to pay her bills a few months ago. Strange times, maybe, but nothing really new. People have always latched onto a hate object and not let go until the last morsel is consumed. If you haven't heard of Richard Jewell read up on him (can't post a link, but his name will work). It's a sad story of being falsely accused and what it can do to someone's life.

For sure. "He was acting . . . crocodile tears . . . it's all about him . . . he's lying." Nothing he said or did, no matter what, would be enough because people's minds were already made up before the press conference started. Personally, I've changed my mind several times during the course of this scandal and I still don't know what I believe about a lot of what's come out (not the relationship, though. Her age was too young for him during the entire course of their relationship).

Trying to be objective on the internet and dealing only with verifiable facts seems to be abhorrent for a majority of people. Only being on the "right" side is allowed. There's no room for waiting to see what the real facts are.

I'm actually glad that ksh is suing the family, not because I believe the family has done anything wrong. I don't know and only in a court of law will the truth come out, at least I hope so.

Thanks, Kyubin. I appreciate your support. I was a little surprised at the first reply telling me I was wrong when it would only take a few seconds to confirm the accuracy of the definition. But that person's determination to prove themselves right is too funny. When the insults come out they've already lost.

Thanks! One can only hope that they mature out of the insulting stage, but looking at their self-justifying comments I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.

Pedophile is a medical term. The medical term that would fit in this case would be Ephebophilia, which covers ages 15-19 years.

You can use the word however you want, but that doesn't make it correct.

Please stop using the term pedophile for KSH. Pedophile is defined as someone who is sexually attracted to prepubescent children. Puberty for girls usually starts between the ages of 8 and 13 which, from all I've read, is not the age of KSR when the two knew each other so this term in inaccurate.

I'm only asking this because I think the language we use is important. I'm not in any way justifying anyone's actions.

Those things are entirely possible. The point is we don't know enough. I've read that the relationship between KSR and her family wasn't as close as it might seem that the family is portraying. I do hope that a neutral party will be able to investigate and find out if the blame KSH is getting is entirely deserved or not.

Your last sentence is the biggest problem. Nobody knows why she died on his birthday. There are many possible explanations and the fact is that unless she has written somewhere why she chose his birthday nobody will ever know. It's been used to bash KSH, but there's no way to prove it was to hurt him. It's possible that was her motive but it's a mystery that will always stay a mystery.

I agree that there are so many things that don't make sense in this situation. The biggest problem in my mind is where was her family during the six years they say she was in a relationship with KSH. It seems strange that in all that time they never knew anything about it? I agree a thorough investigation by a neutral party (if that's possible) needs to be done.
