This is about a batch of cadets in Arsenal Military Academy including Xie Xiang (Bai Lu) who disguised herself as her departed brother to be able to enroll in the school for boys, Gu Yanzhen, the spoiled son of a high-ranking government official and Shen Junshan, the second son of a prominent business family who befriended a mysterious woman, Jin Xianrong, while studying abroad. How the cadets, as well as their classmates and friends, get involved in the Sino-Japanese War is told in a spectacular fashion. The sad parts made me bawl and the triumphant scenes made me go wow! The romance arcs are not bad either in the end it's not a romnance drama. The development of the relationship between Xie Xiang and Gu Yanzhen from bickering roommates to lovers is amusing.
