after catching #1, it gives me the feeling this one is going to be a tragic love story. I mean she's the one who's head over heels with Muze, & taking the initiative within a few encounters...But the closing song trailer doesn't look happy and encouraging...
So getting tired of seeing CY's obsession in every episode... If not because of trying to catch hint/s of who's the baddie in PF, i would have put this on hold...
Hmmm... this drama touched on God of War (like Ancient Love Poetry) and Tai Sui! But why is the Tai Sui depicted as some evil spirit and that evil thing is present in everyone's inner self and can be summoned with the slightest bad thought...??? If HL didn't invite him to join their dining out, she wouldn't have the chance to laugh at him for still not admitting to her that he likes her... If HL didn't lead him on and encourage him in every mtg, he wouldn't have her in mind and started missing her when everyone's gone home for new year festivities... And if HL is not interested in XR, she wouldn't have lied to her Mom about going out to friends' gathering but was in fact to look for XR and even be with him in the same hotel room. Then scene switched to XR mountain climbing while HL marking books and thinking. She's thankful to XR for all he's done for the kids & his contributions and charity. She admitted both were at fault. She's now trying to survive on her own. Like him, she's also recalling the past, the days together and she finally realized that their past & memories are bonded tightly together and can't be separated. (That's what i can make out of what she said. Because it's an old show, the audio is still very soft even after i blasted the vol to the max).
Then, in the next scene, he came to her home during winter. Her first words were "Why are you here AGAIN?" "To see you. I wish you could go back with me." In next scene, with LY coming out of taxi talking to XR on the mobile who's asking him to meet up regarding HL. During the catchup, XR told the guys HL will be returning on New Year's eve and their plan for remarriage.
I do understand yr principle and view on infidelity. I too loathe dramas involving cheating. But Boopsi, this is a forced error in his life. It's not unforgivable under those circumstances, My angsty and frustration in watching this drama all due to HL.
For me, there's no such thing as platonic relationship. HL' s staying in touch with LY is already going against XR's wishes. Meeting up with LY, having meal with him and even going to his home... Did she consider his feelings? How about she putting herself in his shoes?
Anyway, bottom line is FL knew she's also at fault & contributed to their breakdown. She forgave ML and was making her way back to her loved one. So, in her position, that scar can be healed. What's more important is that she still wanted to be with him and love him as always. Unfortunately, the start of the drama is also the end of the drama...

Hi Boopsi, if you remember, I did say at the start that both parties were at fault. I also mentioned the contributing factor of cause and effect. The whole story would have been different if she did not tell Liu Yuan what XR confided in her abt the uni placement after graduation. That's her 1st big mistake. Not that she didn't know about the fight between her two suitors, but she still treated Liu Yuan like the best know-all person, sharing everything about them and asking LY to help with XR's job search and also to look after him in Shenzhen!!! That her 2nd big mistake.
After the divorce, she did admit she's also at fault, that she should have been more understanding and caring towards him as she knew he was very busy with his business.
I've explained several times that RX is unlike other self-made men who after getting their pot of gold would be all out for young girls and worldly pleasures. XR's so busy thinking of diversification and expanding his business, that he didn't have the time to feel bored. Don't know about other cultures, but doing business in China ain't easy. Lots of entertainment & dinners, especially so for his startup company and need to build rapport. After being pressured at work, returning home to a cold woman aint hleping at all.
Re yr opening statement in last para... If you are referring to the nightclub scene with Monica, i wrote my piece in my earlier reply to @De Samaro . You saw only one incident but you regarded him as going after manly desires!

That's why he didn't feel the pinch when Lu Ke scolded him for having lost a big deal due to his absence from office. He had all along know her importance to him. He didn't take her for granted. He was just too eager to succeed & provide her a luxurious life..

XR hooked up with WY only when HL alienated herself, causing them to drift apart. When CQM said the wrong things during their catchup at his club, that pushed XR to WY, thus giving WY the opportunity to nail him.
After the divorce, he behaved weirdly, caused car collision, consulted Fengshui master... Going AWOL, not going into office causing Lu Ke and Zhou not able to get him to sign a contract, resulting in a lost deal which Lu Ke, Zhou and team worked very hard to secure the deal.
He went to another club, supposedly a top niche nightclub and asked for its lead hostess. Monica was already serving another customer but came by to say a quick hello and must return to that customer. But XR objected & would pay highly for her services. When the angry customer came over to demand her return, XR offered huge sum to buy over her service. But the man started to degrade XR & insulting XR, a mainlander, etc... Personally, I would regard that club visit as a way of his attempt to get over the divorce... Not for sex.
