IMO you should begin watching the Fanren Xiu Xian anime right from the very beginning, which is totally different…
key events in live and anime storyline align to novel. Not differnt. But his entry into cultivation world and his relationship with Zhang Tie and Li Feiyu in the live has been cut off. There are some touching scenes in that arc.

ah ok, i've found it. One Way or Another is Dadao Chaotian. I saw that but somehow didn't continue watching. Probably the graphics in the animation didn't appeal much to me. Will continue after I've run out of stuff to watch!

Thanks. I've already finished the Renegade Immortal novel. I read it because i loved the anime Xian Ni so much that I needed to know what happened to Li Muwan. I'm not a novel reader but I managed to finish my very 1st novel!!!
Then, comes Fanren Xiu Xian which i also love the life-like animation. So I expended my time in the 3850 chapters!!! But that will be the very last long novel i'll ever chase after. No more!
I know of Tale of Herding Gods, but not One Way or Another. ToHG didn't interest me though.

His buddy Zhang Tie played by Hu Yu Xuan appears only in Ep. 1-2. After their master "killed" him and he became that tall stout masked man, Han Li named him Qu Hun. That role is no longer played by Hu Yuxuan, but by Han Jian Yi. That's why his buddy is a different looking man in Preview 26.
