shouldn't modern sensibilities towards injustice allow these reactions while understanding the that it's historical…
i also question if this is a real enough portrayal. i think it's pretty idealized and romanticized and for the umpteenth time showing the privileged tiny portion of the society.

I know a lot of you hate Xuetang. However, remember this is a 'historical drama' that is not based on 'fantasy'.…
shouldn't modern sensibilities towards injustice allow these reactions while understanding the that it's historical and that they were supposedly good husbands according to the social conventions? i would also say that structural inequality based on gender is ongoing in every society and that improvements need to continue to take place.

Wow. The Ren men make my blood boil. These incredibly capable women wasting their energies for what.
I watched ep. 10 and my heart just breaks for your heroine.

Seriously not interested in wasting my time on that since I'm not on a mission to have anyone believe me or share the same thoughts or agree with me, but thanks.

Not really in Majo no joken the 2 leads had different personalities, and the story line is different, i found…
I think she sees his capacity and wants to nurture this as well as his suppressed love for Math that she sees. I believe she would do this for any student. As for her feelings, I can't tell though precedence tells me that she won't go there before 4 years pass.

I don't think they will cross any boundaries as teacher and student and I cannot fathom any PD putting forward that kind of a relationship as a romance. They would be roasted.

disclaimer: calling the relationship in MnJ one of respect and admiration is for lack of better words. I am aware that such a relationship, where there is a breach of trust, cannot really be described in these terms.

You can read the above if you would like. Anyway, I agree with you to see how it goes.

Okay. So, in MnJ the leads meet on the road where they crash she has his cell, he has her ring. She first sees him at school lying on a tree (if I remember well) and invites him to be interested in his studies. In M, they meet on the train and there is an exchange of bags and she finds him lying on a bench listening to music and she is to interest him in Math. In MnJ, she has a fiance who is an office worker and mother stays at home with father a retired educator who has a reputation and holds sway in the field. She has a best friend which is not in M. In M, she has fiance who works for the ministry of education and holds sway. In MnJ, he has a mother who drives him and corners him in his studies which makes him loose his interest. In M, he has a father (and mother too) who drives him and corners him in his studies that makes him loose interest. In MnJ, he has a fascination with art they share, in M it's a fascination with Math which they share. Of course, there is always the second female lead student with here bag of troubles in both. There is his upcoming fight, connection with books, library scene, beach/listening to music scene, and her leaving the marriage talks for the sake of the student mirror each other in MnJ and M.
I know some of these elements are in CN. I also see that the personalities are different in all three shows actually due to their different personality/background setups. The relationship of mutual respect and admiration unfolds similarly in MnJ (sexual and taboo from the beginning) and M, where it isn't in CN. They male student in CN is attracted to his teacher and ends up slapping her and everything else that unfolds.

See my above response and go back and watch MnJ, if you have seen it before, and you will see what I mean. CN had a similar set up but MnJ is closer to this than it is. IMO Japanese dramas of the early 2000's had more licence to tell a taboo story than today, hence, again imo, the controversy with CN and the nature of this story (K audience as well). Still, it comes across as remake, albeit an updated and sketched out version.

So the story is updated and fleshed and more conservative but the story unravels the same way with almost parallel setups in the relationships and looking at the preview for ep 3 I'm even more convinced.

This is totally a remake of Majo no Joken.
Edited: To clear up any confusion; "totally a remake" here means (in a cheeky way) "so much like". Please don't understand it as "this is literal remake of MnJ".

the mole scene was hilarious, it felt like I was watching The Penthouse again 😂It was a typical cheap trick…
Totally agree.

Okay, some lazy writing in ep 55. The reveal with the mole and the fainting so the identity is revealed were so inorganic to the storytelling so far. I hope this doesn't keep happening because, honestly, I was impressed with the story development so far even if SH and JK kept repeating the same lines to each other .

Is he taking a break finally? Usually he always has another drama lined up. Hoping he does another Romance based…
I did the same thing. Finally just watched MC and, honestly, it was JH who kept me invested.
