This show gives me great feels and energy. Su Xiao is perhaps my favourite protagonist of all time. Fitting for a person of this century. It is so wonderful to see a person being impartial, fair, just and magnanimous - a person who, despite (or because of) having a good moral compass, doesn't look down on others who do not meet her moral standards. Her father is also an incredible human being. I only wish that they would have written her mother as having as breadth of a character.

wish i had read your review before starting the drama. i could have saved myself some time. thankfully, i got fed up with flaws by the episode 20 ... just couldn't continue.

I definitely like Mark Chao as an actor...and his charm. My heart skipped a beat when he showed up on screen. Can't go wrong with Betty Sun! What a treat to have these two on screen together.

i don't disagree with any of your considerations when assessing the situation. i just don't think there is anything inherently wrong with an age gap as a starting point, and, of course, i do believe that certain factors have to be considered in each situation and especially for those involved. for the example, is the relationship just or healthy.
i do not see her attraction to the ML as problematic since it can naturally happen. as for child grooming, as I saw in the series, he was not attracted to her while she was a teenager.

please note that i'm speaking of a 17 year old and not an 11/12 year old.
also, alcohol/tobacco is a whole other conversation imo since it is harmful regardless of age.
anyway, i'm not saying that the 17 year old should act on the attraction (and if so, it's really none of my business if they got together), i'm just saying that the attraction can happen both from a physiological and psychological pov and there is nothing creepy about it...unless you are socialized to see it as creepy or it is a personal preference. my schoolmate married a 28 year old when she was 18 after graduating high school. they liked each other when she was 17 and he was 27. both families were okay with it. he owns a business, she finished her undergraduate and became a lawyer. had their first child a few years ago when she was 30. i am aware of another couple who get married at 17/27 as the families were okay with it.
i can understand why another person may not appreciate age gap and that's fine, i just don't understand the need to take issue with it or to call it creepy.

Interesting article. *I really never understood why people take issue with age gap. Why is it creepy for a 17 year old to be attracted to someone around 30? The physical development of a human being allows it, and depending on the circumstances and socialization, the psychological development allows it.

This drama somehow rubs me in all the wrong ways. The plot is too tropy and convenient.

i agree with you on all points. yeah, i saw YB years ago. There is always a family member who is neurodiverse that shows how saintly the mc is. Kinda hate the trope, but anyway, I did like YB when it came out. Apparently Red Shoes will follow this one.

never wanted a drama to be off air as much as this one. i'm surprised that i kept watching the previews each week trying to see how it turned out since I thought it was so bad from ep 1 but i think it was the name that did it. i am so familiar with TCOMC and seen so many versions of it that i couldn't resist to see a retelling which this was so not to the very end.

cannot with the incessant and unnecessary sound effects but funny and enjoyable work from the leads.

watched this and felt my blood boil for half of the show until i gave up. i was pulled in and kept going because someone mentioned in the comments that the female lead is capable and i wanted to see how this was pulled off. how? it was the female lead that pissed me off the most and then the remaining females. i honestly think the writer has a negative view of women... and is classist (the case with most content from China, it's worse hearing it so blatantly in the dialogue ). and the characters were all so unreasonable and all the plot devices. the script itself is subpar. a whole reel of frustration.

can't believe it's airing in 2021.

rant -- i seriously, for the first time, hate-watched a drama. this is soooooo bad. the actors are stiff, the characters are poorly written especially the female lead could give a class on being a doormat, and the script is recycled mediocrity.

@ episode 13 - i really liked so many moments of this drama. i especially will watch anything shao bing is in. at this same time, i feel i have to grind my teeth to make it through each episode because the stuff about dreams and team spirit is soooooooooo in your face and preachy. i will continue to see if i can make it through because i was totally in tears at episode 11.

VIcky Chen did a really great job in this roll and the romance is tame enough.
