Hmm... I hope you might see that addressing challenging attitudes/narratives does not equate to seriousness or being hurt. There are many subjects that I can laugh at but there are those subjects that I choose not to laugh at... especially for the sake of entertainment... and they include narratives that promote toxic views of men and women. The two scenes were particularly harmful as I saw it. I chose to point out the scenes because I felt that I should disrupt the narrative even in a small way. I hope this is helpful.
wow. i can't believe stories where women are the source of all evil are still being made. cultural heritage or not, it hard to swallow this kind of stuff. peace out.
I am not watching this drama or haven't watched any ML drama either. But reading most of the discussions towards…
Thank you for your input @Luffy2. I absolutely agree with you. I am a female victim who did not see appropriate justice done to the assailant, still, I do not agree with witch hunts and public shaming. We use the age-old tools that have oppressed women for so long to seek justice? There are these people who believe they are so righteous, who indiscriminately, end up causing more harm than good in the long run . This is what the justice system is there for and when it's flawed we should work to change it as well as social values. Individuals should pay for their crimes and, yes, we can personally choose not to support their work. However, we, who are so far away from the incident and don't have all the facts, should really just stop with the character assassination and the hating on the personb. One more thing , men are also victims of assault perpetrated by women (and men too) but the double standards rarely allow women to be called out. How many MDL listed dramas have I seen where the FL abuses the ML and it's considered acceptable and even right if the ML looks beyond it? Yes, we need to give more space for women at this time in history but it doesn't mean we need to walk all over men in the process.
*** Personally though, I'm dropping this drama. I'm not feeling it because it's too much like other sageuks of its kind and PSH's character is too much like his other ones. Hence, nothing new.
I'm fangirling both leads right now. I've always had a tender spot in my heart for each as actors. I also have to praise the writing here. It's the first time I'm seeing a sexually responsible FL in a Thai drama. *slowly clapping* .
I find this drama super weird with the switch in tone after episode 3. I'm still reeling from the whiplash. I…
I imagine if he was in love with her and was mean to her he would be a$$hole --- as others are saying in the comments, but he doesn't love her (as far as we are privy to his thoughts and feelings) and he didn't want to marry her. Mind you I think he's self-centred and spoilt and benefits from entitlement in a society with grossly patriarchal values. Still, I don't buy into a forced romance (from either gender). I also may have missed the ball on the whole hacking thing but I find it disturbing what she is doing. I think I swore at my screen both in episode 4&5. I was like what the f--! ...first of all from the whiplash, and second of all, from the fact that if a guy did those things we would recognize it as stalkerish and controlling.
