Happy ending? Meaning, do they end up together? or does he just fade away into ghost land? Spoilers welcome.
There are some that found some semblance of hope in the ending to call it bittersweet. I personaly found it exclusively sad and tragic tho. They do not end up together tho, atleast not during any resonable timeframe. What hapens much much later in the future and is extremly open.
The rating started good, than went down week to week when it was obvious it would have a tragic ending. After…
It honestly is not because he is bisexual, not realy. As we talked about before, we knew he was bi: from his past relathionsip with Dream. That was not a problem for anyone. But if they wanted to reinforce that messsge, it could have been acheved by saying something like this: i tried to move on, having relationships with men and wemen but none of them lasted long. Same message, same bi protagonist, but still not the finality of making it clear that during his life the end game romance for Phat was a woman. So you are only about 30% right: Was i upset he ended up with a woman,? Yes. Was it because he was bi? Absolutly not, we need way more bi protagonists in BLs, Hell, one of my favorite side characters is Leon from Dont say No, and his being explicitly bi is part of that. So please do not make asumption about other people. I hated the ending because they did their best to not give an open ending for their life (they made it perfectly clear just how bad Phats life was), making a heterosexual mariage the end game, but at the same time giving an extremly open ending about their „afterlife”.
I'm confused. So this show has extremely positive reviews with a lot of people who agree but the rating of the…
The rating started good, than went down week to week when it was obvious it would have a tragic ending. After the ending it got worse. The reason is that contrary to what is written the majority actually hate the ending and are extremely disappointed it went there. Just check Reddit and see how many ppl froze the series after ep 4,5 waiting on the show to be finished, then made barfing emojis when they heated just how bad the ending is.
the ending was beautiful, rarely a ending done right for a Thai BL, where start and middle wan't too perfect but…
How can it even compare to Life, Love on the line. There they lived most of their life together happy and fulfilled, being joined in death as they were in life. Here that is not the case. Phat lives an unhappy, tragic life waiting for the day he dies, and Phob we can assume watches in horror as the man he loves attempts to move on, not full able to but still being intimate with other people and even getting married, all the while being unhappy. And on top of all that the ending is still open since we do not know what will happen to them after death. The lack of a kiss or hug after could be interpreted as a short walk to being reincarnated centuries apart, or Phob leading Phat to meet his wife. All that lifetime of suffering and not even a payoff at the end.
Overall I believe it ended in the worst possible way and even an open ending with young Phat heartbroken would have been preferable to what we actually got.
Can someone please tell me if this show has a happy ending? Meaning, do the leads magically somehow end up together…
It is open aparently but extremly tragic and not at all what a BL ending should be. I mostly consider it a sad ending since there was no pay-off at the end and you have no ideea what will happen, but you know for certain they both had their whole lives taken from them.
I think there was a mention of a wife and a family, so that implies kids. Also we see him hugging the pillow in his old room than exiting the house in the same clothes, so again it is implied that is when and how he died.
Personaly i do find it much worse. My prediction for a tragic (the expected one tbh) ending was mostly exactly what you wrote hapened be4 the timeskip. That would have been a tragic ending left open so we can decide how it playes out. But having known all of Phats failed tragic unhappy life (heterosexual mariage included, in a BL, honestly what heteronrmative dickhead thought the MC in a BL ending up with a woman after his BL „dies” is what fans wanted) it just makes it so much worse., especialy since they opted for an open ending anyway. There was no kiss, not even a hug after Phat died, we dont know if they are together for a few secons, forever, how long. Are they roaming the earth endlessly? Are they in heaven? In hell?
Also anyone who is prasing it for realism: IT IS A SHOW ABOUT GHOSTS, and zombies, and mediums, and „aliens”, there is nothing realistic from begining to end. If they wanted to give it a proper happy ending it would have been entierly possible. Hell, even having Phat die as a teen would have been way better, not like he actualy enjoyed any part of his life (did he actualy have kids that let him die alone in an empty house? of cancer? wtf).
And as someone who actualy disliket the ending of HCTM and consider it tragic-ish, i prefered it 100% more.
Gave it a shot since everyone said it was better than the short clips and if I am honest it was way worse than anticipated. The amount of “cute” scenes between Korn and Lin’s body were beyond uncomfortable. People making excuses for it seem to forget that if you are in love with someone you do not cheat on them with their sibling no mater the circumstances. That is what the show show felt like. I was expecting Moonlight Chicken to be the cheating EarthMix show, turns out I was wrong.
Now the show does have a few saving graces, EarthMix are excellent as always, the scenery is mostly wonderful, the chemistry on point and the music is perfect for the series. It is such a pity this was a body swap show, it absolutely ruined the first 8(well 9,5 tbh) episodes. If this was about Win and Korn making the journey in their own bodies to get the water and awaken Lin from a magical induced coma it would have been one of my favorite shows. As it is a truly wasted potential.
I had a feeling Black would seize leadership to White like he did. Sad for Black because he started all this but…
From what i have heared it is highly controversial, mostly because many do not even conside the show a BL since for 9 episodes the whole relashionsip is between a man and a woman,
I don't think there's a "book" for Not Me, because I heard that the story was based on a fanfiction and the director…
They have changed everything. The names of the characters and White swaping places with Black are the only two things the show and book have in comon, nothing else is even remotely similar.
Having now seen ep 6 with subs I rly don’t know how to feel about this show. Regardless of what was said in this last episode it still felt like the only reason YS liked HY was because of the past life. All the parallels between male and female HY made it completely clear he only accepts them in a male body now because they were female when they first met. This is supported by the fact he went from running from HY to declaring his love in 2 min and 2 flashback later. And this to me makes this show not rly be a BL. An LGBT show sure, but a BL no.
Before the show aired there were pictures floating about on twitter that said this show would be a full BL, and that present Ha Yeon was not the reincarnation of the woman but her brother who lived in the past as well and loved Yeon Seok in all lifetimes. This was backed up with pictures of male Ha Zeon in period clothing, so i was sure this is the direction they were going in. But without having seen ep 6 yet (thanks Viki) it seems this was a lie and it is still mostly a het drama, posing as a BL.
So i am guesing the spoiler floating on twitter before the show started was fake? I didnt see the final episode yet, since Viki is shitty with subs but it was a lie. Damn.
You haven't really watched it, have you? I honestly can't wait to see you eating up all those words after you…
And you havent even read one word i wrote. Ever single - i made stands and you did not refute any of it, but singled out the last phrase. I am glad you liked this show, honestly i am, but that does not mean others will. Most of us have already seen/heared enough about it that the finished product can not in anz way change that. Again, read the points i wrote, if they are true (and they are) no amount of extra padding can make this show a BL.
The people bending over backwards to defend this are so funny. They keep moving the goalpost all the time to be able to salvage this train wreck in their minds. First it was: - the body switch will only be a few episodes- nope, ep 8/9 and still not back, -the switch is just for comedy, has no importance to the plot-nope, main part of the story, -they will only have intimate moments after they switch back-nope, Korn is groping Lin like crazy, -he is confortable with her and will only do things he can do to his sister- nope, two steamy kisses later, -it is still mostly a BL- nope, one heterosexual marriage proposal later. Now since they got nothing left, they just search for "hidden meaning". Guys if you have to search for hidden meanings to justify what was explicitly shown on screen than you may be reaching, just saying. And for those who will just start yelling about watching the whole thing: we do not have to. The whole plot is already on youtube, we know what is happening from the people watching, and no amount of context will change the face that this show is about two men improperly using a woman's body, without any form of consent, showing the reaction of people around them to what they assume is a hetero relationship, having kisses between a man and a woman('s body) and passing it off as a BL.
At the end of they day there will be few people happy with this, it may be too gay for the hets they tried to court with this , but way too heterosexual for people who enjoy BLs (not to mention the ungodly amounts of sexual harassment assault in this).
