WHYYYYY??????Oh why??? Now Saet Byul and Dong chan can be never together!! If he was alive then there would've…
The "OMG it was me moment" was him realizing that the first time around he was the one that dropped her in the river because he thought she was dead, which actually is what killed her. If you remember in the beginning they said the little girl did not die that night from the strangling but actually was drowned. That's because in the beginning Dong Chan was framed by the bad guys. They gave him a high dosage of alcohol in his system which makes him forget things and when he saw her laying on the ground and thought she was dead and that his mother killed her he then threw her body into the water. Thus, actually being the one to kill her since she wasn't really dead. The 2nd time around is when all those events played out but this time he remembered what he had done (him realizing it was when there were two Dong Chan's) AND he noticed that she was alive. Therefore he was able to save her.
My take on the ending: I think Dong Chan lived and here is why.....I think the two people in the prophecy were…
Thought of something else. Do you remember in ep 10 when Dong Chan read the book (the same book he read at the end)? Well, I think the book was symbolism for this drama. In the original story of the book the little girl dies (just like in the original time line). But, in ep 10 it shows Dong Chan changing the ending of the story so that the knight saves the little girl. I think this is an important part of the symbolism. That Dong Chan is the one that re-wrote the ending. Just like he re-wrote history by remembering what he did and therefore was able to save the girl. Does that make sense? Hope so. :-)

Glad to help. Try watching the end with what I said in mind. You will see that it makes sense. When he says "Don't worry ahjumma. I will protect Saet Byul". I think he was saying that not because he thought he needed to sacrifice himself but because he realized that he was the one that could save her after realizing what his past self had done. I am more convinced every time I watch it. ;)
My take on the ending: I think Dong Chan lived and here is why.....I think the two people in the prophecy were Dong Chan and Saet Byul, BUT, in order for the girl to live one of them would have to disappear. And one of them did. It showed TWO Dong Chan's. One was his past self talking to his future self (which was him remembering that he killed the girl the first time) and so by remembering what he did AND noticing that she was alive his old self disappeared and they both survived. If you remember his past self told his future self to stop. And the splash we all heard. I think that was the mom going into the water to stop him. I truly feel like they both survived.
Okay so I just finished it with subs. Here is my take on it. I think the two people in the prophecy was dong chan and the little girl, BUT, in order for the girl to live one of them would have to disappear. And one of them did! Dong Chan's past self disappeared when he realized that he was the one that accidently killed the girl the first time and so by remembering what he did AND noticing that she was alive his old self disappeared and he was able to change their fate and they both survived. Hope that makes sense.
Go onto Viki and you'll see that people are very torn on whether he died or not. I personally believe he lived, but, you can come to your own conclusion. ;-)
WHYYYYY??????Oh why??? Now Saet Byul and Dong chan can be never together!! If he was alive then there would've…
Yup! I totally think he is alive. Besides the two clues I mentioned here are my other thoughts:
1) When he was in the water with the little girl and noticed she was alive he came to the conclusion that he must sacrifice himself. Well, the ahjumma was at the scene when he supposedly tried to drown himself. Do you think she would've let him do that? I don't.
2)The prophecy did mention that one had to die in order for the other to live. What if Dong chan was wrong and it wasn't a life that had to be given, but, rather the president had to lose his political career if the girl were to survive. If the girl survived, his political career would be over. If she died then it would be saved. Thus, one could not live while the other was alive. And the President did kill his career when he made the sacrifice to tell the nation his family secret. Or if you want to think of it this way: The truth could not live if the lie was alive. By spilling the secret he kept her alive.
3) The little girl at the end asked if the Knight had survived. I think that was the writer telling us to dig deeper and come to that conclusion. I don't think the answer was that he died (the obvious conclusion) but rather that he lived (which you could see if you dug deeper).
Those are my reasons for believing that Dong Chan is alive. ;-)

There is speculation that he is not dead. When the brother is being released from jail there are 3 people waiting for him. His nephew, his mom and what looks like Dong Chan. Furthermore, when he's reading her the story at the end she is in a completely different outfit than when he read it to her in ep 10 so when did that take place? These are the thoughts going on in my head.
OH MY GOD NOOOOOOO DONG CHAN-AHHHH 'Don't worry Ajumma, I'll protect her' I'm still crying. whyy can't things…
I'm seeing what everyone else thinks of this. Someone pointed out that when the brother is being released from prison there are 3 people picking him up. You clearly see the nephew and mom and the 3rd person looks like DC. Could he really be alive? Time stamp is at 56:37. Or is it just wishful thinking?
That was one of those biggest screw-ups in drama history :D R U f***ING KIDDING ME! :D I just remmembered a comment,…
I'm not sure he is dead. Someone pointed out to me that when the brother was released from prison there were 3 people that picked him up. The nephew, the mom and it looks like DC. I'm wondering if he actually is alive.
Someone brought up the point that they think DC is alive. Check out time stamp 56:38 and when the brother is being released from prison you can see 3 people picking him up. The nephew, the mom and I would assume the third is DC. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Could he actually be alive?
i hope soo hyun not separate with dong chan V_V just turn ur bastard husband to the bad guy V_V
I will be devastated if she does that and I will be mad also because Dong Chan has been there for her this whole time and she should trust that he can help her save her daughter and his brother. I'm assuming that he will attempt to do both.
I thought episode 13 revealed a lot and then ep 14 blew me away! Was so shocked to find out that Dong Chan's mom kidnapped Saet Byul. And ep 14 made me so sad for Dong Chan! The scene at the end broke my heart when he said, "But what about my brother?" UGH.....I hope they don't end up on separate sides and they continue to work together to save them both. I am SO nervous about the ending!
I absolutely LOVE this drama! Easily the BEST drama of the year! It keeps you on the edge of your seat, has great cliffhangers, great twists and turns and Lee Bo Young and Jo Seung Woo are AMAZING! I am totally shipping them as a couple and am in full support of her leaving her jerk of a husband. He's the worst! The man hasn't been helping her at all to try to save his daughter and is even helping the bad guy! Where Dong Chan has been doing everything in his power to save that little girl and help the mom. He repeatedly puts his life on the line for them and in my opinion is acting like the true husband/father. I can't wait to see how this all unfolds and I am really hoping that we get to see Dong Chan get the girl in the end.
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!! HULU has reached an agreement with MBC and is no longer pulling their Kdramas off from HULU. In fact, they are looking to expand their inventory. YAY!!!
