I know, right? One of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen in a drama. The scene in the car, too *fangirls*

Hm, I don't think I've called any character or person in real life pathetic, because I think it is a very strong expression to be reserved for people who really deserve it.

However, I often find myself cursing at the screen, telling the character: 'oh my god, how can you be so STUPID?', because it is infuriating to see them trampled on and used. Now, this is fine once or twice, maybe even thrice, but at some point, I think: 'You must have learned SOMETHING. Why can you not realize that and change?'

Because, here is the thing: Humans have a incredible learning ability. As a 4 year old kid I asked my mum why the stovetop was glowing red. She said because it was hot. I touched it, just in case. That's a child's curiosity, and I wept bitter tears in retribution. But have I ever touched a hot stove again? Certainly not.

Now, you can argue that being a doormat and a curious child aren't really related, but I don't really think so. I used to a little naive, you see. I was too good-hearted, always tried to help everyone and was used a lot in the process. But by now I've changed a lot. Of course that doesn't happen over night, but a drama should have either educational or entertaining worth. Preferably both. It is something that should make us get invested, and question life, and learn and grow from it. But how is that possible if characters on screen don't grow with us? This is why I have absolutely no understanding for doormat characters and I drop dramas that show signs of them faster than a hot potato. I still cringe when thinking of 'She was pretty'. Worst leading lady ever created. Sue me.

To the second point of too much crying: I agree with what people have said here. Why would it be interesting to see a character cry over and over and over again. To me, that's a waste of screen time. I want to see a character express various emotions and expressions. I remember when my professor at the theatre academy once told us: Once you cry real tears on stage, it's all over. I couldn't quite agree with him, but I do understand what he meant. Not crying actual tears can often deliver much more sadness and pain and hurt. Especially when the crying person is a bad actor. Don't get me wrong, there are phenomenal crying scenes. Queen In Hyun's man will forever make me tear up with the leading lady in that hospital bed. Because her pain is physically palpable. But there have been occasions where I had to set the audio on mute because the crying in certain dramas was so overused and so fake, that it made me lose the last bit of sympathy I had for that character. So yeah... I'm a pretty emotional person myself, and I do cry a lot. But there are times and places and it's supposed to be real. So I prefer my characters to have somewhat of a grasp on themselves....

Now, sorry, this has become a rant haha But these two character traits are really some of the most annoying. Just after the second leading lady that is almost always cunning, heartless and DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP.

I might finish it after some time :) I've seen the japanese and korean Liar Game. IRIS has a tragedy ending, so i'll stay away from it xD Thanks for the suggestions though ^^

I am not sure... I am usually someone who marathons series because if I find something exciting, I simply cannot stop. Same with the beginning of Bridal Mask. Now I'm at episode 20, and I had to struggle through the past 8 episodes or so. It's become boring to me. :(

Someone recommended this drama to me and I expected a something very special... but actually it was very dissapointing.…
Oh man, I so agree with you. I loved the drama and hated it at the same time. AND THOSE FLASHBACKS. They are generally overused in K-dramas, but Innocent Man just took the cake. Why they think they have to replay an entire 5 minutes we saw freaking two minutes ago, is beyond me. What a way to waste airing time....

This drama overlaps a lot with 'Jong Pal'. In my opinion Jong Pal is better than 'Innocent Man', so I recommend it to everyone first.

Title The Innocent Man Spoiler
The last three episodes or so were the worst. It became so messy. So many 'deals' and empty 'promises' when we were finally hoping for some sincerity. What's so hard about saying: 'I am sorry. I really do love you. I did it because I tried to protect you, but I hurt you instead. Please forgive me, I was wrong. Now I want us to be happy.' In the end, they never even cleared one of the misunderstandings. When he went to make the proposition to Jae Hee and said he would be with her, even if he couldn't love her, I just wanted to PUNCH his pretty face. WHY? There was NO reason to. If he had just talked to Eun Gee and explained everything properly, they could have won over everyone easily. If he had just shown his sincerity earlier, she would have forgiven him. The ending was so anti-climatic. I also wonder if he really lost his memories (omg the amnesia card was pulled so many times here. I cringe...) or if he just pretended to lose his memories. His narration wouldn't make any sense, because in his narration he says he is happy now because he got a second chance with Eun Gee. If he had lost his memories, how would he know that? Ahhhh, it's all so messy. T__T

I am so conflicted about this drama. Even though the naiveté of Kang Ma Roo in the beginning made me want to throw a fit, it was a promising start for such a drama. 'Innocent Man' is a fitting title for this. If we think about it, even though he did some shady things here and there, he was the one who had to take all the crap the world was throwing at him. All he ever tried to do was to take responsibility for everyone. And that's where it went downhill.
The first third of the drama? Epic. The second third of the drama: Touching and exciting. The last part of the drama? Infuriating. I just wanted to pull my hair out. How none of the characters could (apparently) have learned anything is beyond me. After all that betrayal and backstabbing. There were just too many misunderstandings. Too many clichés. WHY DON'T THEY JUST FREAKING TALK ABOUT IT. WHY? They keep second guessing and making assumptions and always only hear half of the conversation when they are eavesdropping. It made my nails curl in fury.

Okay, now I need to calm down. It's not all bad about this. The acting is great, and I did love the main leads (despite their stupidity) and Kang Choco her 'bf' were the best. I was just hoping for it not to turn so messy in the end, which unfortunately it did. To me, the greatest moments were when KMR and Eun Gee made Jae Hee tremble with jealousy. Oh, what a sight!

Title Bromance Spoiler
"Dad, i've let you down.' 'No, you've never let me down, not even now.' WTF?? We are talking about a freaking…
I think it really depends... Mafia doesn't equal mafia. There are mafia organizations that deal with drug or weapon trafficking. Then there are others that deal mainly with money. In other cases, it involves prostitution or human trafficking. I believe each mafia organization has their own rules and boundaries, and in this case, the way Zifeng and his father handled their organization, murder was just out of the question. The world portrayed in this drama just wasn't convincing enough to justify these crimes. I just had too high expectations for this because I was hoping for more realism and fighting :(
For example, if you've seen 'The time between dog and wolf', it makes so much sense there. A human life there doesn't have much value, but the people in this drama grew up in this world. It shows the ugly, hopeless and harsh reality of a future you cannot escape from. However, the people in Bromance didn't grow up in such environment, so they should not be driven to such extremes. The people in TTBDOF are hues of gray. Bromance is black and white.

I loved the second male lead in Emergency couple more, that's why xD And I am watching Bridal Mask right now. The first couple of episodes were AMAZING, but then it started to get really repetitive, so I put it on hold right now. I'm on ep 20 or so... It's good, but not the best in my opinion. Maybe if I had watched it while it was airing.... :)

I am sure it's a fantastic drama, I've heard many good things about it. But I am a very emotional person, and I cannot separate fiction from reality very well. So when I watch sad dramas or read sad books, I tend do be depressed for days. So I'd rather not :)

Average romantic comedy. It was a fun and easy watch, but the theme of adultery/one-night-stand could have been fleshed out so much better. 'My PS partner' really went under my skin, but here I didn't feel anything at all. There wasn't much chemistry to begin with. Moon Chae Won is a super popular actress. I've never seen her before, but just judging from this movie, she's not someone I need to see in another main role.

Summarized: Cute but predictable, 6.5/10

On a different note: What the heck is this description here? You don't need an essay for a 2h movie. It pretty much reveals the entire plot....

I so agree with your review. Most of the reviews cannot get enough with their praise of the supposedly perfect masterpiece. While I get mad over here about how it could have been SO much better! It's not bad, but all the things you mentioned are infuriating....

Title Cheer Up!
I dont understand why this drama has high rating value...the story is so-so, the characters especially the villain…
I also think this drama is a bit overrated, but I disagree about the romance. The 'hate turns to love' card is used way too often in Korean dramas, so I thought it was great that they didn't use it in this drama. Love doesn't always have to be so difficult. You feel attraction, you get to know each other and eventually fall in love.
I just think they should have kept the tension up in the latter half. There weren't that many scenes anymore, which was a shame.

What really peeved me was Kwon Soo Ah's character. I can see that she did it all because she was afraid of her mother and not being able to live up to her expectations. However, there were scenes that made me think she could possibly have a borderline personality disorder. The way she acted and presented herself were so engraved into her mind, that it is not something you can change overnight. I just couldn't buy her remorse and sudden peace of mind. I think the writers took the easy way out in this aspect, and it made my appreciation for this drama sink a lot.
