Very nice review, though I must disagree on your POV on the second half of the story, hehe. It's been a while since I watched it, but I do remember everything clearly, which is always a good indication that a drama was good enough to be memorable. Some of the dramas I've seen a month ago I cannot even recall any names or interesting scenes.
Either way, if you regard everything that happened in the first half of the drama, the build-up and the new discoveries Puchai made along the way, I can very well understand his reasoning and the choices he makes eventually. Resolution is one thing, but being shaken by things unforeseen is just a human trait. I also really like that Na Na DOESN'T let him push her away, contrary to so many other dramas out there. It is true that she gets less screen time, and i'd have loved to see her kicking some more ass. The final episode and show-down was really intense in my opinion, I held my breath and could barely believe it, and actually shed some tears. Either way, I am planning to re-watch it soon, I may come back to revise my comment accordingly :)

Oh and btw, the MUSIC is still the best OST up to this date, in my opinion. Especially the instrumental score. The fire of love, Hot Spade, City Hunter, Eagle Eye, Fire Flower, Glory of the City, and above all, Sad Run and Endless Crying. Just for these scores alone the music deserves a perfect 10 in my opinion. I've had them on my ipod for months and still get goosebumps when I listen to them. Simply breathtaking! The Korean songs weren't as good, but some catchy tunes like 'It's Alright!' or Suddenly and Lonely Day were memorable.

LOL at least his mask covers his mouth and nose and sometimes he wears a hat as well. In Bridal Mask the main character has a mask that only covers the upper part, is so much easier to see who he is, it's that IN YOUR FACE. It actually annoyed me so much more than City Hunter, especially because at least in City Hunter he tries to hide and do his missions where not many people can see him. Anyway, I love City Hunter, and even though of course there are some things that are illogical, that's the case for pretty much every Action drama. It's still very well done, in my opinion :)

I don't see it as a love triangle, actually. It was never really acted upon. Cha Yoon Suh had already moved on from her crush on the professor, she simply admired him as a doctor and treated him as a friend. Of course if you liked someone for a long time, you will always have some sort of feelings left, but I don't think she ever considered to date him, at least not by the point he was sort of implying it.
Kim Do Han on the other hand just took the advice that Chae Kyeong gave him. It was more of a way of taking the easy way out. I think the writers dealt with the situation very well. I liked that it was handled without unnecessary drama. They didn't call it a date, but could still test out the waters. After seeing it wouldn't work, they went their separate ways again. I wished more K-dramas were that subtle :)

Now, before you start the drama, let me tell you some things:
If I had to describe the drama in a single word, it would be 'sincere'. Its sincerity is more apparent than in any other Korean drama I have seen so far, and this is what makes it unique in my opinion. There is nothing forced, nothing fake, nothing that makes you want to punch a wall because there is no point or reason for it. You watch 'Good Doctor', and you don't feel like you're sitting behind a screen, but you are there with all the characters, in the hospital ward or the operating room, breathing the same air as them. It is hard to express the emotions that this drama brought out in me, but there was laughter and tears, a lot of pain and even more happiness.

I was aware that Joo Won is a fantastic actor by all the works I have seen, but this time he simply left me speechless. I had the pleasure to get to know some autistic people in my life, and the way he acts is simply phenomenal. His posture, his gestures, mimics, speech, even his GLANCE, Joo Won brought Park Shi On to life in a way that I hadn't thought possible. Even just for experiencing that, it would be worth a watch.

But if you don't, you'd me missing out on so much more: The medical aspect is really important in this drama, and they did a fantastic job. Now, I have never studied medicine, but all the surgeries looked SO real, that I was seriously wondering sometimes if they were just operating on props (I know they did, but... man!). However, what makes this different from other medical dramas, is the fact that Shi On has to deal with a lot of obstacles and prejudice, and he approaches things differently because of his (dis)ability. Secondly, it is a pediatrician ward, so we get to see a lot of heartwearming and heartbreaking scenes with kids. I was skeptical, thinking actors that young would surely ruin the drama. Boy, was I proven wrong. The kids had some of the most authentic and touching acting I have ever seen. Some of the veteran actors in this industry could learn a thing or two of them. However, the adult main and supporting actors in this drama equally brought out the worth of this drama. Cha Yoon Suh and Kim Do Han are clearly needed for Shi On to become the person and doctor he dreams of.

I see, this review is getting quite long, so I'll just get to the point: This drama is one of a kind and it should definitely not be missed. It is funny, touching, sincere and teaches valuable life lessons. There are no all-evil villains, but the reasoning of each of them becomes apparent. It teaches lessons about friendship, family and love. The only reason why I give this a 9 out of 10, is because near the end of the drama, I was lacking the little spark that was there during the beginning. I am not sure what it is, but there was a tiny little something missing, maybe about the romance, maybe about something else. But even so, it is one of the best I have seen and I hope it will get more recognition. 9/10

And nope, I haven't seen it yet, but it's on my To-Watch list. Between Tree with Deep Roots, The Princess' man and The Moon That Embraces The Sun, which one do you recommend most? I do think romance is important and I would prefer if it's not too sad. But all in all I just want a series that doesn't get repetitive. (In historical dramas the evil plotting at court oven gets too much). Any advice?

Production costs for historical dramas are very high (all the costumes, the set, etc.), that's why 24 episodes are the minimum for historical dramas...

I haven't seen The Princess' Man yet, I am hesitating because I heard it is very sad. :-/

So, because of all the terrible reviews, I was really hesitant about watching this. But I wanted a not-too-deep drama where I wouldn't feel the need to marathon it... Well, that's what I thought for the first couple of episodes. Then, I must admit, it wasn't as easy anymore to stop at the end of the episodes.

So, let me tell you something: This show is by no means great. But it's also not terrible. It's your typical rich guy/poor girl story, with the exception of it taking place in High School. So the only 'plot' happening in this is: Who gets the girl? Who gets the company? The story could definitely have more backbone and substance, as it was quite bland. However, some things were funny, some things were cute, some were a bit sad, but mostly, it was a huge cheese-fest. The amount of cheesiness in this show is no joke. The amount of clichés in this show is to be expected, but I still wish they could have toned it down some. Now, the only thing in this show that was REALLY terrible was the 'love is the moment' theme song, that I felt was haunting me in my nightmares. Thankfully they toned it down in the later episodes, but I couldn't stop cringing each time it came on at all the wrong moments. Urgh.

All in all, Cha Eun Sang proved to be no different (aka, lukewarm and very boring) than most other clichéd female leads, much to my disappointment. The love triangle between her, Tan and Yeong Do was funny at times, and outright infuriating at others. I would say it improved over time. Contrary to many other shows, I felt like the drama didn't get worse as time went on, but stayed about the same.
I am pretty sure I will never watch it again, but I also don't regret having invested the time. Near the end there were actually some moments and developments that touched me (the dead-body drawing explanation for instance, I didn't expect that), and some character-dynamics I really loved (Tan's and Eun Sang's mothers, Yeong Do/Rachel/Hyo Shin, BoNa/Chan Yeong). Choi Yeong Do had the greatest character development, and even though I hated him in the beginning, I could make peace with him in the end.

To sum it up: You might enjoy it if you don't have too high expectations and if you can deal with a very romance-focused and somewhat ridiculous plot and LOADS of crying. At least the supporting characters do somehow make the show worth its while. 6/10

I've been thinking about watching it, because I've seen Kim Sung Ryung many times as supporting actresses, and I really liked her. However, I usually need a bit of romance or at least chemistry. Is there any romance in this drama?

I second them both, though I prefer 'It's okay that's love' by far. You should also watch 'Queen in Hyun's man'. It's amazing. It also combines historical and modern Korea and the main lead is an actress. It's actually the actress who played Song Yi's friend/rival in YWCFTS, and I was worried I wouldn't like her because she is so cunning in YWCFTS. But she is amazing in in Queen in Hyun's man. It's by far one of my favorite dramas :) The lead's chemistry is so *O*!

I find the people who leave a comment saying 'overrated', just for the sake of showing they're not part of the masses who love this show, incredibly funny lol Like, what's even the point? If at least they added a reason to it, but nope... A round of applause for all of you. *slow clapping*

The best thing about this drama is the comedy and chemistry between the leads. It is witty and funny and really lovable! However, the serious bits of this drama are really lacking. There were so many things that didn't make any sense. And all that crying, yuck! Lee Dan and Oh Yoon Joo were both annoying me to death. I wished we could get a nice second lead for once.
Beginning was quite strong, dwindled a bit along the way, i'm undecided between 6.5 and 7...

Hm, I don't think I've called any character or person in real life pathetic, because I think it is a very strong expression to be reserved for people who really deserve it.

However, I often find myself cursing at the screen, telling the character: 'oh my god, how can you be so STUPID?', because it is infuriating to see them trampled on and used. Now, this is fine once or twice, maybe even thrice, but at some point, I think: 'You must have learned SOMETHING. Why can you not realize that and change?'

Because, here is the thing: Humans have a incredible learning ability. As a 4 year old kid I asked my mum why the stovetop was glowing red. She said because it was hot. I touched it, just in case. That's a child's curiosity, and I wept bitter tears in retribution. But have I ever touched a hot stove again? Certainly not.

Now, you can argue that being a doormat and a curious child aren't really related, but I don't really think so. I used to a little naive, you see. I was too good-hearted, always tried to help everyone and was used a lot in the process. But by now I've changed a lot. Of course that doesn't happen over night, but a drama should have either educational or entertaining worth. Preferably both. It is something that should make us get invested, and question life, and learn and grow from it. But how is that possible if characters on screen don't grow with us? This is why I have absolutely no understanding for doormat characters and I drop dramas that show signs of them faster than a hot potato. I still cringe when thinking of 'She was pretty'. Worst leading lady ever created. Sue me.

To the second point of too much crying: I agree with what people have said here. Why would it be interesting to see a character cry over and over and over again. To me, that's a waste of screen time. I want to see a character express various emotions and expressions. I remember when my professor at the theatre academy once told us: Once you cry real tears on stage, it's all over. I couldn't quite agree with him, but I do understand what he meant. Not crying actual tears can often deliver much more sadness and pain and hurt. Especially when the crying person is a bad actor. Don't get me wrong, there are phenomenal crying scenes. Queen In Hyun's man will forever make me tear up with the leading lady in that hospital bed. Because her pain is physically palpable. But there have been occasions where I had to set the audio on mute because the crying in certain dramas was so overused and so fake, that it made me lose the last bit of sympathy I had for that character. So yeah... I'm a pretty emotional person myself, and I do cry a lot. But there are times and places and it's supposed to be real. So I prefer my characters to have somewhat of a grasp on themselves....

Now, sorry, this has become a rant haha But these two character traits are really some of the most annoying. Just after the second leading lady that is almost always cunning, heartless and DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP.

I might finish it after some time :) I've seen the japanese and korean Liar Game. IRIS has a tragedy ending, so i'll stay away from it xD Thanks for the suggestions though ^^

I am not sure... I am usually someone who marathons series because if I find something exciting, I simply cannot stop. Same with the beginning of Bridal Mask. Now I'm at episode 20, and I had to struggle through the past 8 episodes or so. It's become boring to me. :(

Oh man, I so agree with you. I loved the drama and hated it at the same time. AND THOSE FLASHBACKS. They are generally overused in K-dramas, but Innocent Man just took the cake. Why they think they have to replay an entire 5 minutes we saw freaking two minutes ago, is beyond me. What a way to waste airing time....

This drama overlaps a lot with 'Jong Pal'. In my opinion Jong Pal is better than 'Innocent Man', so I recommend it to everyone first.
