+ season 2 of Our Times(in a span of 6 months they filmed much more than 36 episodes released as "part 1", part…
According to this weibo blogger (a fan of Neo's): https://m.weibo.cn/status/5004501868349594 the second part is non-existent, and the 3-minute video is not a trailer but a bunch of cut frames from next 4 or 5 episodes which were originally included into the drama as the whole but got blocked by the censorship.
What the taomei says may be true, but the facts are:
- the last frames in the drama say: "Stay tuned. ... While it's sad to part, things will end for now. ... The brothers shall reunite and sail again. The End of This Season." [eng by WeTV]
- the teaser video released after ep 36 was telling the continuation of the events
- the shooting period of several months was relatively long for a non-fantasy non-costume production (according to Neo he spent 4 months filming)
All of these was giving a strong impression that the part two was coming (soon). I won't believe that the producers or cast had ill intentions and wanted to fool the audience like that. I prefer to believe they reapplied for the review, and were trying to release the blocked content (maybe adding a few more scenes) as season 2.
I think just a short guest appearance, filmed for a few days b4 he visited SKorea.
missed it, i've been trying to list all Neo's works with details about shooting time on my yt channel (now in progress), the info gets lost and I've realized i'm forgetting too, will add this one later, thank you
felt bad for him man... 2 dramas that never made the light of day and 1 currently postponed drama... all that…
+ season 2 of Our Times (in a span of 6 months they filmed much more than 36 episodes released as "part 1", part 2 announced with the end of season one - it has never aired) trailer S2 official weibo https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4693597045392664 overall a huge amount of work lost
At the end of the day we are all just normal people that may never know the truth. Since I don't know him personally…
Kind of hilarious when such dirty things happen in any Western society, then everyone blame it on its rotten morality and talk about Western people who lack of their morals, but when a popular Chinese actor involves himself in such a mess then there will be always some defenders there to blame it on CCP... Sure, because idols from China are all crystal flawless, it's all CCP's fault.
The rape of Peng Shuai has nothing to do with Li Yi Feng's case, and the man is responsible for his own wrongdoing. He is... was... one of my few fav actors, I've only learnt of it now, and I'm deeply disgusted.
There are no less hypocrites around the world than in China, and the mentioned WTA are hypocrites themselves. There were able to stand for 1 retired Chinese player, and supposedly "LOSE" all events in China but there are not able to stand for 41-million nation and exclude Russian players where they wouldn't lose ANY events at all (including Wimbledon 2022 which they "cancelled" deducting points from players when it wasn't cancelled at all !!!)
One must remember China was still coping with Covid in 2022, and the WTA events were cancelled already earlier in 2021. Now when the situation with Covid in China is over, WTA is already back in China for 2023.
To prove the point (source: eurosport.com): "ATP scrap China tournaments, including the Shanghai Masters, from 2022 calendar due to Covid-19 restrictions. For the third year in a row, there will be no ATP tennis tournaments held in China. "
So the conclusion is, WTA wasn't giving up any events in China 2022 for Peng Shuai. Like ATP they wouldn't have had any there either way.
It's the pot calling the kettle black.... who lets whom lead them by the nose?
It's true things are usually more complicated than they seem, and the info we get is insufficient to build the whole picture. But hadn't LYF been involved with prostitutes, they couldn't have framed him like that.
For me a lack of respect for women is enough. A "consensual sex act" is between two people in relationship. Paying for a piece of a woman's ass for your own pleasure is NOT a "consensual sex act" - it's taking advantage of sb's economic status and sb's struggle to feed & survive. Buy yourself a sex doll if you are morally deprived and cannot take care of a woman you sleep with.
The dubbing is kinda a turn-off.. 😔One too jumpy another too stoic.. Still prefer their own voice
A squealing female voice-over and a high-pitched voice-actor as a dragon? That's a MATCH ! really.... And the chemistry between the leads? Forget about it. With dubbing it's all erased and gone.
I don't even care much how the dubbing sounds.
Modulating the voice for various roles should be the actor's basic ability. One of the perfect example (from Western filmography because I don't have any from the Chinese field) is Nina Dobrev's acting in TVD. I was awed by her ability of creating two characters on one show (Elena and Katherine). She was phenomenal at differentiating the two characters just by modulating her voice. Katherine spoke with Elena's voice when she pretended to be her, but she had her own peculiar way of speaking. It was that impression of watching two individuals, and not one person. Costumes were the crew's part but creating the two characters was Nina's own job.
I was full of expectation for so many months to see how Neo would challenge the role of the dragon character. But because of the dubbing I will never know what his own creation would be like.
Forgive me the long comment, but this is my last time posting on this page or MDL ever.
But with Chinese productions sometimes it is hard to tell. The recording and processing of the actor's voice can change it a lot, and it may be difficult to recognize his/her voice even if you know the real one.
This is not Hou Ming Hao's voice in the trailer.I couldn't be more disappointed.I will still wait for the release…
The truth is China has still problems with suitable recording of actors playing live in front of the camera. You mentioned Hu Tong - I'm stuck on ep 4 but I already noticed the drama has audio issues, they weren't even able to record actors' voices properly. And it can be heard in the first scenes when Neo appears on screen, and it sounds really bad. Why is it even acceptable by them that a television series intended for a TV broadcast doesn't have a proper audio track? it's not a wuxia/xianxia so what was their problem?
Neo has 6 undubbed dramas (including The Lost Tomb which has his own dubbing), I'm guessing his standard Mandarin cannot be that "bad".
And I already said it: his voice is his own to use for playing. Either he is suitable for the role or he's not.
This is not Hou Ming Hao's voice in the trailer.I couldn't be more disappointed.I will still wait for the release…
the difference between Taiwanese actors and mainland actors who speak mandarin is clearly noticeable when we compare Chinese and Taiwanese dramas with no dubbing (or Taiwanese playing along with Chinese in one drama), Taiwanese people sound more as if they spoke with a lisp, maybe that's why I prefer mainland mandarin if people in China could understand Neo in Our Times, they will certainly understand him in other dramas
This is not Hou Ming Hao's voice in the trailer.I couldn't be more disappointed.I will still wait for the release…
there are still methods to alter an actor's voice with computer software if they want it for various scenes/characters it could be that they modified his voice a bit for CP, it's not what I heard of or I'm sure of but just sth that I have always suspected the shade can be different but the expression will stay true to the original
I would't mind if his voice were modified for scenes in BFTB
acting is expressing emotions, and most of all the emotions is expresed by actor's voice crying, screaming, sighing, whispering... anything, not only "talking"
[edited]: pain, joy, despair, disappointment, anger, fear... all of this is contained in the actor's voice when acting and when they are faking their emotions on screen, you can tell it by listening to the actor's voice
if he's dubbed HOW he played it (during the filming) you WILL NEVER KNOW because you will never be GIVEN to SEE that you will never GET to see his ACTING (because it's killed with dubbing)

you can also read comments on weibo (quoted):
https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4868680586628641
"The original sound in the shower is pretty good, why use dubbing?"
"It's a pity, I thought it would be the original sound"
"I really want to know why"
"I don't think I need a voiceover"
"The original sound is better than the dubbed..."
"I feel the same"
Acting is acting.
There is no "half of acting" or "quarter of acting" or any "part of acting".
[edited]:
dubbed actor & the actor's "sincerity" to the character/role ?
= another Chinese lie
it could be that they modified his voice a bit for CP, it's not what I heard of or I'm sure of but just sth that I have always suspected
the shade can be different but the expression will stay true to the original
I would't mind if his voice were modified for scenes in BFTB
I replied to @insideout91
my only reply to you could be:
China is living in their lie, I cannot do anything about it
but please, don't feed me with their lies here
if you watch Cambrian Period, When We Were Young and Our Times - his voice was perfect in all these dramas
crying, screaming, sighing, whispering... anything, not only "talking"
[edited]:

no, we WON'T be seeing his ACTING (if he's dubbed)
and that is EXACTLY what you got confused about
HOW he played it (during the filming)
you WILL NEVER KNOW
because you will never be GIVEN to SEE that
you will never GET to see his ACTING (because it's killed with dubbing)
that's what I meant
