I really look forward to an action / crime drama. 19th Floor was a good choice in terms of a genre but the script didn't give Wei Zhe Ming any chances to show off, not even a single scene with an impact to draw more attention to him. Almost like playing a marginal role throughout the whole series to appear as a main lead only in the last four episodes. In the entire series support actors got better chances to perform - the most heartbreaking scene belonged to Bai Shu and Xiao Kai Zhong. Although the drama has attracted many viewers, it couldn't result in bringing Wei Zhe Ming new fans when he was nearly unnoticeable. An engineer? I wouldn't be able to tell...
I'm fine with modern romcoms. Miles can be unpredictable so I will always be ready to watch those, I won't complain. But for heaven's sake, each and every one with Mango? The sound of the word may drive people away.
A spicy or tempestuous romance would be welcome, something boldier than just a light romcom with censored scenes. Or a tragic story with some mature psychological stuff. But I won't count on Mango to have the guts to produce such. I noticed, Tencent and youku are more willing to offer shows with daring and unconventional content.

The problem of the next drama which aired half a year after "Unforgettable Love" was its female lead, Pan Mei Ye, who might be suitable for support roles but casting her alongside somebody as talented and handsome as Miles was a mistake. Her previous so-called "main role" was merely a tiny background role in WWWY (2018) so technically "If Voice Has Memory" with Miles was her first main role. And the last one at the same time. Then there was a lapse of 18 months until Miles's next drama aired. In June 2023 both "My Marvellous Fable" and "Echo of Her Voice" were already much delayed.
That would explain why he wasn't able to maintain the soaring popularity after 2021 but kind of needed to rebuild his position in 2023 (with five dramas and a singing talent show broadcast that year). It's like a new start for him. As the last two years were very successful he may expect what's best now - any producers, investors and directors should be interested in him. As long as his own agency won't confine him.

Apart from the fact that he's been a regular visitor to Hi6 every 2 months plus a host/guest on two more shows by Hunan TV since joining the agency in Jan 2024, I cannot see how his projects got better due to this cooperation. As an actor he's been associated with Mango since forever and it seems like he's been now trapped with them for his lifetime. Looking at his works filmed last/this year it is only LBTG outside Hunan (Tencent) but this one is a support role. Echo of Her Voice which aired on IQiyi/Youku was filmed like 3 years earlier (in 2021 as I recall). Honestly, they are dragging him down in a way they don't let him spread his wings. I'm glad they supported his singing ambitions and that he's had more public exposure but if they possess him to the extent they won't let him work for other tv networks keeping him as their own backup contracted for one type of drama, it might be a big disadvantage. Any better opportunities will be out of his reach.
For those who haven't watched the drama yet and plan to do so, I would suggest they look for better subtitles. Mango youtube subs for this drama is a disaster, can hardly be called subtitles, a broken language full of messed up lines with nonsense meaning.

Obviously this is uploaded from another source, I'm not sure where the subtitles come from (my guess it's from Viki).
These subs are not perfect either, in many places better than Mango's but not necessarily everywhere so watching two versions simultaneously let me compare both and get closer meaning.
Another set of subtitles is by WeTV which I found after I'd completed the drama so haven't watched it the third time (yet). According to the Chinese articles (and wikipedia) he was married after years of a steady relationship in 2015, divorced in 2016, he confirmed on weibo he was single in Oct 2020, these are FACTS. According to MDL staff we don't need facts, we need "confession".
When asked on the show "if married" he could have just said "no, I'm not" because that was the truth. In Sept 2023 he'd been single for a long time by then and there was no reason to add anything more. A moment of sincerity, the word just slipped out.
I don't think that it's any tabu, and it shouldn't be. That's why I posted the above comment. But the profile info seems like written by sb with no clear intentions. It doesn't reflect facts or how the things were, and it has that ambiguous feeling to it.

I'm sorry, I know that you cannot argue with the staff, it's just my reaction.
For me it's one more display of discriminative attitude of MDL staff towards some actors and some users (who are not from the right circle I guess), inequality that RULES on MDL.
Bios of some actors are thesis-long essays full of insignificant, trivial rubbish, image covers of some traffic actors are being changed every several weeks for NO REASON, but the staff rejects new edits for other actors' bios when needed and requested or refuse changing photos even if they don't comply with the local rules and haven't been changed for ages. Just the MDL reality.

Perhaps it should be mentioned that it was that period of his showbiz inactivity when Wei Zhe Ming got married because the information in the MDL biography sounds vague and confusing.
I mean I went through old comments on this page and there was such impression like some people kind of suggested that he/his agency used PR to hide the fact. I don't think that was the case.
The wedding ceremony was held in October 2015. The video footage is beautiful and looks like made by a professional so they must have hired someone to videotape it. No secret marriage contract, and no secrecy about it.
He married at a young age of 25 when he was an ordinary person. So it's quite understandable there was no need for public exposure at that time, and there was no reason to make it public even later when he went back to acting, especially if something didn't work, and the marriage didn't last over the years.
In my eyes, he was a true romantic, unlike other guys around this age who would only think about cars, bikes, basketball and spending time with their buddies, he wanted to declare his love and share his life with the loved one. There was no big deal about it.
Anyway, the wedding footage got revealed and went viral after the broadcast of "Perfect and Casual" (2020) and netizens made a fuss of it creating some rumours, so in response to his Studio's post Wei Zhe Ming sent a comment to his weibo on Oct 5, 2020: “已单身，未育，勿cue” (I am single and have no children, please don’t cue me)
