I'm on ep19 and i'm struggling to finish. I have short attention span and tend to get bored when the 2 leads get together without further difficulty XD. Can someone spoil me whether there's any more drama (misunderstanding, separation, anything that threatens their love for each other) in their relationship?
No, this FL is smart and quick witted and has her own goals in life
Ignorant? Lol! Sorry Jinmi just don't leave that deep an impression like XuanJi for me. As far as i remember she was just a grape fairy, who didn't have any power to begin with, but ascended to god (or a level higher idr) through trial by herself, whereas XuanJi was established as a war god, whose power is beyond that of anyone in her clan and on par with SiFeng, yet she turned out to be so incompetent and detestable throughout the drama. No character has ever topped the level of contempt i felt for XuanJi for me. Why? Because despite having all that power, she still powerlessly needs saving, time and time again, until the very final episode. XuanJi was a pushover who let herself get dragged into doing other people's biddings over and over again while she could totally DECIDE otherwise. On top of that, she never considered the consequences before taking action, letting other people suffer; and still couldn't learn her lesson and made the same mistake again, jeopardizing people, again. She couldn't make up her mind and could only whine "SiFeng, SiFeng, SiFeng" and stare helplessly at ML when he was suffering :/ , and he kept suffering for her over and over again while she helplessly did nothing about it. I've never felt such contempt for a main character/ FL. Why bother calling her War God when she insists on being a weak and pathetic doormat whose existence does more harm than good? It's mind-boggling to me how Sifeng could still be blindly devoted to her.
Aside from being pathetic and incompetent, the reason why i hate her so much is because she's an oath-breaker. She swore an oath to her master - a top cultivator who took her under his wings despite her inferior ability to cultivate compared to her peers at the time and trained her to become more powerful than them - to protect the sacred ground and pledged to prioritize her "mission" before all else, but when the situation called for just that, she flaked out without hesitation nor remorse. She never upheld her promise when it inconvenienced her, and always let her personal relationships (aka her friends, her boyfriend, and herself) take precedence over her life mission. Imagine how betrayed her master must have felt when people's lives were at stake and one person who pledged to safeguard it refused to do so because of her personal matter. Plus, I remember when she made a promise to her father about taking Sifeng as her enemy, in her head she was already ready to break it. Dude if you can't keep a promise, don't make one in the first place. She took her oath with a grain of salt and betrayed her mission & her master, as well as went back on her own words for her father, which means her words had no weight, and she's untrustworthy & unworthy. I remember Jinmi stabbed her ML because she thought he killed her parent right? That's still an honourable cause in my book since she didn't consciously betray whom she's indebted to like XuanJi.
Btw, don't call anyone "ignorant" if you don't know their reason first.

I really hope that's the case. I was so traumatized and mentally brutalized by the pathetic incompetence of XuanJi's character. Her face is forever imprinted in my mind as XuanJi the Damsel in Distress and i can't watch anything else with her in it. By extension I'm also hesitant to watch Cheng Yi because of Sifeng's blind love for her since i think she's just unworthy. I hope this drama might help me enjoy his other works and erase that image.
I watch this because of Wang Run Ze. I adore him. His acting is so endearing, and he's such an eye-candy. I really hope he gets better scripts (with better FLs) in his future projects so i can watch him shine and thrive <3
Edit: sorry i had to drop. I just can't with the FL -_-
I should've watched this wayyy sooner. This is a masterpiece. Every character was so well-developed and brought to life with superb acting. All of them were so realistic and relatable because of the maturity in their characters and the journey they experienced. I love how everyone has their own pain, regrets, guilt, burden, and struggles, but still carry on living, being kind, and finding happiness, especially in the face of loss and separation in life. I laughed and cried my eyeballs out. The plot was masterfully crafted and condensed with meaningful life messages. If you're not into immature characters who make dumb or malicious decisions for the sake of creating melodrama, and are looking for heart-warming stories of real substance that simultaneously break your heart and heal it, this one is defo for you.
Yes he compromised his integrity by having a deal with wuhuan. Later he regrets for making a deal with her, he…
"He's just a normal immortal, not a god, otherwise he would call himself one"-> this is just your assumption. I don't see a god would call himself a god on first talk with a stranger anywhere in the drama. Bai Jue wouldn't entrust such a major responsibility to a random immortal with no fighting experience. Plus, he defeated Chi Hou, who was an upper god at the time. The reason why he lost to Jing Yang was when he fought with Jing Yang his power was greatly impacted because he lent FL the tower, which is tied and infused with his core spirit, so most of his power was gone. About underestimating Wuhuan, I'm just stating fact. At the time she was just an upper god without much cultivation, much like Chi Hou at the time, and only after she was exposed and punished did she gain more power.
"wuhuan was a goddess and the heavenly empress, she hold lots of power, so he chose to deal with her" -> she was just a stand-in while other gods were away. Heavenly Goddess is just a fancy title. And Jing Yang is inherently rude. He's rude to everyone and even those above his rank. He even shade or snap at a god in front of him (Tian Qi and Bai Jue if i remember correctly). Even if he's not inherently rude, he would still be rude to Bixi because he already considered Bixi an enemy and a threat to his mom.

"You wouldn't know how power can bend other people's will" "Who would question a heavenly empress or the older son of the emperor, he was just a servant who is tasked with guarding the humans, he couldn't say no to a higher authority." Power obviously can't be his motive, much less power from Wuhuan. Bixi existed way before the prince was born, and highly likely before the empress. He served Bai Jue before the god died, and he was already a decorated warrior who was entrusted with protecting the human realm and the tower by Bai Jue himself. At the time Wuhuan was only 20.000 y.o, a maid who just began her journey. As such, he may even have much more cultivation than her. His life mission is to keep the realm from evil, not gaining power. Yet for no understandable reason, Bixi, an upright and seemingly wise god, suddenly turned dumb and voluntarily lowered himself before an ill-intentioned queen to frame an obviously innocent lady, hand over the authority to protect human to the queen, and put the whole realm at the mercy of a bully who can't even own up to her mistake and frame others for it, just because of her glaringly flip-flop promise that obviously she's unable to keep? Where's his stellar judgment of character that he used on FL flown off to? He managed to fend off lies and deception for 60,000 years and was flipped by a maid who has no leverage against him within less than a day? She doesn't even look and sound convincing btw. What did she threaten him with? Nothing. No guarantee that she would fulfill her end of the deal either. If you can't see the contradiction, I don't know what else to say. I would believe it if he was forced or controlled by some drug. This is just bad writing.

which only proves he's a plot device and his character is inconsistent. Even a kid could tell Wuhuan was lying. With thousands of years of experience of dealing with deceptive gods, immortals, and demons who tried to steal the tower, he must have known better than falling for such an obvious trick of an obviously ill-intentioned upper goddess with inadequate ability to protect the realm. It can easily be seen that Wuhuan was only an upper goddess at the time, her spiritual power cannot be compared to a true god, and thus obviously she has no leverage, and Bixi must have known it, but he still fell for it??? Also it was established earlier that he's not someone who can be easily swayed by others, as FL almost paid for it with her life to convince him, so a servant with ill intention certainly couldn't trick him with such bad and weak excuse right? But she did omg xD! His judgement of character suddenly went from humane and on point one day to inhumane and abysmal only a day later, with little convincing needed from a servant who has no true leverage in order to ruin one's reputation...... Such a flagrant contradiction. It's just bad writing is all. Other characters are written well so far, only he's an exception. Sorry for my ranting but i thought they did his character injustice.
