On ep10 and i like ML even less now. He's so childish. His childish sulking and refusal to communicate really got on my nerves. The best thing about him is his BDE. And FL is a hormonal chic who can't control her tears even in public. Most of the support characters here are either materialistic or shallow busybodies (;一_一), as if they have nothing better to do than prying into other people's private lives and gossiping.
i don't get why some say 2ML is creepy. ML is the creepy one in my opinion. He has no sense of privacy. I prefer 2ML cuz he's a bit eccentric but very refined and mature with a sense of humour, plus his friendship with the FL is adorable, unlike the childish, intrusive ML.
Cheng is not a perfect character who has no flaws, but he's proactive and serious in his romantic pursuit, and…
on ep28 and I have a major turnaround. I friggin love this episode. This is where Cheng made a major leap in his character:
***Before: control freak, egoistic maverick, capricious, unapologetic, passive-aggressive, lack of understanding, domineering, always bottle his emotions and shoulder the burden alone, too prideful that his ego hurts easily, never admits he's wrong, never listens to others, blame himself and shuts his beloved one out.
***After: introspective, teamwork, receptive, willing to admit his flaws and faults, remorseful, interdependent, willing to change into a better version of himself
His apology is sincere and very satisfactory. I no longer resent him and even am thankful to him, because i didn't understand his acting out and self-ostracization, because of which FL got hurt emotionally. Now i get why he did it and he's so endearing in my eyes. It opens up new perspective for me, which makes me love him along with his flaws <3
Cheng is not a perfect character who has no flaws, but he's proactive and serious in his romantic pursuit, and…
My problem with Cheng is that he's quite imposing and overbearing at times. He fell in love with FL because of her capability and her cuteness, which i find quite troubling because it's not based on emotional connection, which makes me feel uneasy. I don't see much emotional support from him to FL either. And i don't get why he's so passive-agressive and angry at FL so many times, through no fault of her own. FL is unwilling to hold hand in front of his fans to protect his image, and he sulks despite knowing it? Ep25, FL say things to defend him, and instead of thanking her, he ...forgives her???! Sounds utterly ridiculous to me since she did nothing wrong. Ep26 she got hurt and decided to entrust the next match to Lu Yue for safety concerns, and he got mad and stormed out, then ignores her the following day?? It really vexes me when FL is always the one to concede to his unreasonable sulking and apologize to him all the time.
Further, he gives off the vibe of a boss, a mentor, or a brother, not a boyfriend, because he has quite an authoritative influence over FL and can tell FL what to do and what not, not the other way around. It is my wish to see their role reversed, where FL has the full authority to henpeck ML who doesn't dare to utter a single complaint lol.
the FL is never happy. The entire drama is her pouting and fretting - over internet comments. wtf? its the 2020s.…
that's her default facial feature. Her lower lip is thick which i think gave you the impression that she pouts. Plus, i appreciate that she doesn't smile too often or act shy, because that would give me the impression that she's an easy girl or a people-pleaser. I also like the fact that she is quite self-assured and mature.
As for the internet comments, I guess you have never been placed in the similar situation where many people vilify and verbally attack/criticize everything you do. Cyberbullying can have grave and even fatal impact on one's mental health. There has been many IRL cases in the past where celebrities committed suicide due to depression largely because of cyber violence (Sulli's death is an ideal example for this).
Cheng is not a perfect character who has no flaws, but he's proactive and serious in his romantic pursuit, and has major character development, which is quite endearing. His kisses are steamy and his chemistry with the FL sizzling. The way he looks at FL is very caring as well as alluring, which indicates he is gravitated towards FL and cares and yearns for her a lot.
As for FL, I love the fact that she is not a wimpy damsel in distress, who acts all shy and timid when ML is around or is intimidated by ML (kudos to Tong Yao for playing her role well and not turning into an annoying character). FL is proud, capable, and doesn't embarrass herself in front of ML (unlike the FL in Love Scenery). She's also strong, professional, mature, perceptive, loving, caring, and understanding. She doesn't succumb to adversities, as she always stands up after each setback. She doesn't allow herself to be victimized. She's willing to understand and embrace ML along with all his flaws. Understanding and acceptance are crucial factors in a relationship, and she excels at it.
I am only on Episode 1, but after rewatching PYHOMS, I can tell that that is a drama where "dragging" is a whole…
hope you enjoy it instead of feeling cheated like me lol. What i'm pissed off about is that ML enjoy making FL feeling frustrated, disappointed, humiliated, misunderstood, and other negative emotions, right before resolving her grievances. He enjoys seeing FL begging and throwing herself at him, or being at his mercy like a masochist. While some may enjoy this approach and think it's romantic, I'm the type who hold grudges for a long time and am absolutely averse to manipulation, so i find ML really controlling, overbearing, and obnoxious. But it's my opinion, not necessarily yours or anyone else's, so watch and judge for yourself. It's just my advice that you back out soon if you think the same as me, if you don't want to waste time and stay in a bad mood for the rest of the day.
on ep11 and gosh the plot is so lame and super dragggggggy. I skipped a bunch of scenes and watch 11 eps in 3 hours. I really don't get the purpose of the virtual romance scenes in this drama. They make their interaction superficial and their so-called romance so fake, forced, incredulous, and utterly ridiculous. I find virtual skinship with a stranger online utterly unbelievable, much less romantic.
On top of that, FL's character is more like that of a 13 years old, not 30. Dunno why she keeps embarrassing herself and acting all shy in front of ML. She's 30 and he's 21 for god's sake. She gave me severe secondhand embarrassment (¬_¬). I really dont like ML's cocky behavior and his hard-to-get play. What's even more unacceptable is that he snickered and smirked while looking amused after FL tripped and fell on her back, instead of showing concerns. I absolutely love Lin Yi as Gu Wei Yi in PYHOMS, but here he's in my list of the most despicable ML cuz he makes my blood boil.
TL;DR, this drama is overrated and overhyped with ridiculous plot and horrible character writing. Undoubtedly dropped.
the love triangle in the last 4 eps is rlly rlly reallly redundant and vexing.
- I don't get how tf ML seems totally okay and have no problem with FL being kept in the dark and misunderstanding him. He doesn't rush to clear the misunderstanding right from the beginning, as if he didn't even worry that she might felt hurt, because he thought communication is unnecessary.
- His apology seems superficial and insincere. Felt like he takes her for granted, and doesn't even know his secretive behaviours are the source of her distress. Not to mention he didn't even apologize to her when she almost got kidnapped because of him, which is totally unacceptable to me.
- He is OK with concealing the fact from her (aka lying by omission) in the name of him wanting to get close to her.
- Despite having already experienced the impact of misunderstanding, he couldn't learn how to treasure her feelings and desire by proper communication.
IRL i wouldn't wanna get romantically involved with this guy because of his manipulative, possessive, uncaring, unapologetic, and inconsiderate nature. The last 4 eps gave me anger flash, which offsets and undoes most of his good-standing image as a result of his character growth, and because of that i'm totally unstanning ML.
on ep9 and FL is making it really hard for me to watch. She gives me secondhand embarrassment and immense discomfort with her childish behaviours and incessant swooning, which kinda creeps me out *cringe*
on ep30 and I'm drooling over Bai Jing Ting's chiseled muscles *nosebleed*
It's on hold for me cuz I haven't finished the 3 last eps. Their chemistry is okay but not a lot of kiss scenes. Plot- and character-wise, it was good. Would be great if they didn't drag the plot and include many propaganda. Mainly ML pursuing FL, which i like. I skipped a lot of medical and police scenes though, i only watch moments when they're together, and didn't miss out anything. If you're a fan of BJT from Reset, this drama is the perfect chance for you to ogle at him.
ML's acting is so wooden. Whether it's him being shy, jealous, sad, worry, affectionate, smitten, angry, stressed, terrified, aggressive... they're all the same numb blankness without variation, much less micro-expressions. His crying scene is like him being constipated while forcing himself to look sad with fake tears (¬_¬). Hard to convince me ML is in love with FL, since what i can see is an inexperienced actor trying to act, not the character per se. Good thing is that his kiss scenes are very steamy and his good look is fitted for the role. Those 2 are defo his biggest advantages and are what kept me going.
lmao who styled ML's hair and did his makeup? He looks like a playboy or a baddie. That hairstyle makes him look…
On ep4 and i really can't get why FL feel all psyched when all her things were replaced without her permission. Does this girl have no sense of privacy and dignity? What about her personal data on her computer? If someone went through my things in my place, especially my electronic gadgets that contain my personal data, and replace them without discussing with me first, i'd be pissed the hell off, regardless of whether the new stuff is expensive or not.
lmao who styled ML's hair and did his makeup? He looks like a playboy or a baddie. That hairstyle makes him look stiff and doesn't suit him. It's really painful to watch ep1 where ML takes advantage of FL. It feels like he's a professional con artist.
Edit: on ep3 and I realize it's true he's a baddie lol. He's a prick who lied and deceived FL to make her indebted to him and to manipulate her to let him stick around. At least he didn't leave her in a pickle or in a desperate situation. Still if i were her i wouldn't forgive him for his betrayal and breach of trust.
