I'm on ep11 and i gotta say this drama's character-writing and plot are developed naturally and consistently, not rushed or forced like ALP. The progression of romance flows naturally, with over-the-roof chemistry between leads. And it doesn't make me feel as if leads fell in love with each other because they're leads, if you know what i mean.
In terms of childishness and unworthiness, i think Hou Chi takes the cake. FL here is barely 1500 y.o, of course her behaviors and personality would be a bit immature. Nevertheless, she's not as annoying, she's not at ML's disposal or at his beck and call, despite her gravely inferior magical ability, and she never swoons over ML nor put up with/suck up to his bad-temper because of his handsomeness and immense power; unlike Hou Chi, who gave me tons of second-hand embarrassment and made me cringe like crazy at times.
As for the effect, so far i think it's fascinating and on point, albeit lacking in terms of martial arts.
Positives:- I found Hochi, Shanggu, Qing Mu, Gu Jun, Feng Ran and Wu Huan to be really nicely drawn and acted…
Totally agree. ML's final sacrifice felt like a his vendetta on FL for abandoning him previously. I really don't like Bai Jue for mistreating her, and we didn't get to see either of them apologize properly lol

Or when FL confessed her love to him, and instead of an ecstatic expression, he only gave a faint smile, as if she just gave him a candy or something trivial, not something monumental. He has been burningly longing for her for a very long time, especially after experiencing immense anguish and desperation when she vanished and exploded into thin air, yet he only gave a weak smile at her confession??
on ep35 and i get what everyone was talking about. The scene editing and transition is so anti-climatic. Some very monumental and emotional scenes were not delivered to their full potentials, namely when... [see spoiler comment below]. Feels like I was robbed of those moments big time. They should've underscored and delved into those moments, instead of cutting them short and filling the drama with a bunch of dull, repetitive, and redundant fillers. I skipped half of the drama and fast forward another quarter because neither leads were in them. Only a quarter was worth watching.
That said, I love the main couple. Their chemistry is amazing and their acting skills are mostly on point. Also, FL and ML are in my lists of top 5 best FL and top 10 best MLs respectively <3
