On No Pain No Gain Feb 7, 2026
I know No Pain No Gain is a comedic drama but I can’t help feeling sad for Pei Qian. He’s the perfect example of ā€œsuffering from success.ā€ His company is doing incredibly well, yet he can’t enjoy it at all because it leaves him with almost no money. While he watches his employees live comfortably, he barely scrapes by at the end of each month. Even setting the money aside, moments of pride and fulfillment turn into sources of stress and anxiety instead. He’s constantly on edge and forced to lie to the people who work for him. Even though the drama has plenty of fun moments, his situation is genuinely sad and I’m really curious to see what pushed that wealthy man to propose such an absurd idea in the first place.

you've already decided on your POV, so pls don't watch.
Why shouldn’t I watch the drama? I’ve only seen the first four episodes and I simply pointed out that the story seems to lean toward some propagandistic elements so far. As a viewer, I think I have every right to comment on what I’m watching. Comment sections exist for open discussion, both positive and negative. And after all, only four episodes have aired, the drama may very well take a different direction later on.

Tibet has significant mineral reserves and China has been actively developing them in recent years. While mining and resource extraction bring economic benefits, they also cause serious environmental damage, that has raised significant concern among local people. Many Tibetans feel they do not benefit fairly from this resource wealth and have little say in decision making, which has led to tension and protests. From the first four episodes, it’s already clear that the drama propagandise the situation around mining in Tibet. I want to continue watching to see where the story is ultimately headed.

Honestly, with censorship and the push for realism, it feels like the story is heading toward an ending where the female lead leaves the novel and returns to reality. If that really happens, I just hope the male lead also turns out to have been inside the novel all along, so they can reunite and continue their relationship in the present. Otherwise, it would feel far too bittersweet.

Yeah exactly. Bc a hot guy gave her attention, she should choose him? Nver mind that his attention is literally…
Exactly, your wording is perfect. He’s not just flawed, he’s genuinely violent and emotionally immature and that’s not something that should be romanticized.

"You can't get out of this house until you die". Is Im Jae I really the man that viewers of this drama believe Hong Eun Jo should end up with? Is the bar really that low?

Yes, unfortunately this seems like the last option. I have found the drama on another site, but it doesn't have any subs šŸ˜ž

The first two episodes were completely introductory, with a lot of characters being introduced at once, which made things feel confusing. However, the third episode was really good and the forth one felt much steadier now that we finally have a clearer picture of what’s going on. Since this is my first drama set in the Ten Kingdoms period, I’m even more excited to see this one!

It’s rare for me to get interested in a romcom set in the Joseon Dynasty. I can probably count the historical dramas I’ve watched on "the fingers of one hand". I gave this one a chance mainly because I really like the actors and unexpectedly I'm enjoying it a lot so far.
