I have a theory. What if the Queen Mother actually liked the Grand Prince and wanted to marry him but her family opposed because they have been making queens for many generations and they didn't want their daughter to just end up with a prince? Maybe that's why she also opposed on him marrying in the past but since it's inevitable, she wants to be the one who chooses who he will end up with, both for the sake of her son and her selfless, which makes her not wanting to let him fall in love with another woman.
