My thoughts exactly. Mother is supposed to be the adult. She should have tried harder to clear the misunderstanding…
Exacly, she didn't even acknowledge the fact that she was her daughter, how can she act so sad as if it's Si Xian's fault.

I don't think the change in the ML's attitude has anything to do with the social distance between them, for a…
I completely agree with you. To me, those comments sounded kind of bitter. He is the vice president of a company and has been surrounded by exceptional people his entire lifeβ€”people from his field, entrepreneurs, celebrities, artists, and so on. He is constantly around people who are talented and accomplished. As you very well explained, someone who is confident in their worth and abilities, knows what they want from their career and life, and works hard to achieve it can be incredibly captivating. It's completely understandable that someone could admire them or even fall in love with them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fact that he fell for the more developed version of her. If anything, it shows that he appreciates her growth and the person she has become.

Honestly, I'm all for parents trying to fix their relationships with their kids. No matter when it happens, this bond can be beautiful and worth trying to repair. But I don't really see it with Si Xian and her mother. When Si Xian was a little girl, she saw her mother hugging another man outside a car while she was divorcing her father. She assumed that her mother was cheating, which is why she chose to stay with her dad and cut almost all contact with her mother. But shouldn't a mother always try to hold on to her child's hand? Okay, Si Xian misunderstood the situation, but did her mother ever try to find out why her daughter suddenly stopped speaking to her? So many parents divorce while their children still maintain good relationships with both of them. When her father died, was she there for her? When Si Xian had to sell her house to afford aviation academy, was she there? When she needed comfort, was she there? During the Lunar New Year, was she there? No, she wasn't.
I seriously don't understand why the drama is pushing this narrative of an innocent, misunderstood mother who supposedly only wanted the best for her child. I guess this reconciliation is part of the drama's genre and its attempt to keep the story from becoming too dramatic, as well as to heal a painful part of Si Xian's childhood.

Your comment was very insightful and informative. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I'm on the younger side, and I hope I will never be in a relationship with an abusive man, but it's really sad to see these kinds of dramas trending.
The "green forest" male leads may be far from reality, but at least they show a healthier side of men and provide examples of how women should be treated. Honestly, if women watched this drama and thought, "Yes, I don't like this kind of toxicity. I want a nice boyfriend," it could have a much more positive effect. But some people are easily influenced by how interesting toxic relationships can look.

In as much as I Love Jing boran, can we admit this character Luan Nian is actually toxic? I mean yeah that line…
It's not even the bare minimum, hitting and hurting somebody is a crime. Honestly, I think people have a hard time separating finding an actor handsome or the characters he plays attractive and not accepting/ disliking their acts. This is very dangerous especially for younger audiences, that may romanticise this kind of behaviour as ideal from a partner.
