I love how the male lead’s character is developing. He’s annoying, obnoxious and quick to get upset and he can never seem to say the right thing, which constantly gets him misunderstood. Yet, it’s all portrayed at just the right level, enough to make you want to scream at him to filter his thoughts, but not enough to make you actually dislike him. Instead, his flaws make him unexpectedly endearing and add a fun tension to every scene he’s in.
Personally, I never saw Su Chang He as being in love with Su Mu Yu. From my perspective, after SCH’s brother died, SMY became the center of his world—the only person who reached out to him without ulterior motives and promised to walk the difficult path of life by his side. He was very protective of MuYu, the one he knew couldn't betray him.
Bai He Huai kept telling her father how much she preferred Su Chang He over Su Mu Yu, but the moment he showed up at the apothecary without him, she was so bitter 😏
"Master, you're right. I wasn't pretending."
"That isn't enough. Not yet."
" Was my rage not enough?"
" No, the reason your gave us isn't convincing enough. You fancy her, don't you?"
" Indeed. I fancy her."
